Many people ask me, “Where can I get people that will buy all my broilers at once?”
At first, it sounds like a basic question, but when you hear how many farmers are stuck with mature birds and no buyers, you’ll understand why this topic is important.
If you are new to poultry farming, you may think that once your birds are mature, buyers will just show up. It doesn’t work like that. You have to go out and look for them.
1. Visit your local market.
No shame in it. This is where the poultry hustle starts. Most markets have a section where people buy and sell live chickens. Go there. Talk to the sellers. Some of them buy 10 to 50 birds every week. Build friendship, give them good offers, and let them test your birds. If your birds are healthy and clean, they will call you back.
2. Try hotels, but expect some rejections.
Hotels can be tough. Many already have their regular suppliers and may not want to try someone new. But still introduce yourself. Be polite. Drop your number. There are days their suppliers won’t deliver or they have more guests than usual. That’s when your phone will ring.
3. Eateries can surprise you.
Like hotels, they already have suppliers. But when they get a big contract to serve food at events, they look for extra hands. If you introduced yourself earlier, they will remember you and call.
4. Use Google. It works.
Don’t wait until your birds are big and eating up your profit. Pick up your phone and search for “cold rooms near me.”
Cold rooms buy in large quantities. They process and sell frozen chicken. Call them. Visit. Send a message. Some may not respond immediately, but if you are consistent and reliable, you’ll get noticed. And once they trust you, they’ll be the ones asking if your birds are ready.
Now here’s the real reason many farmers struggle to sell; they are not proactive.
You want to sell at 6 weeks, but you wait till week 6 before you start looking for buyers. That’s a big mistake. Start from week 4. Begin to tell people that your birds will be ready in 2 weeks. Remind them the next week. Tell more people than you actually need. Let it be that you are the one disappointing some of them because your birds sold out quickly, not them disappointing you because they have other options. That’s how to raise your value.
Poultry farming is not just about raising birds. It’s about planning ahead, selling smart, and staying visible.

The Commandments of Successful Poultry Farming
Do you truly love poultry farming and want to build a lasting, profitable business?
Then, you must strictly follow these important rules that every serious farmer should live by.
1. Stock Only the Number of Birds You Can Care For
Raising too many birds without proper care leads to disaster. It is smarter to raise 200 healthy birds than to struggle with 500 hungry, sickly ones. Healthy birds grow faster, stay stronger, and bring better profits.
2. Never Borrow Money to Start Poultry Unless You Are Highly Experienced
Borrowing puts heavy pressure on you and your business. Poultry farming has many surprises, and only experience teaches you how to manage them. Start with what you can afford, grow your skills, then expand safely.
3. Be Alert Every Day
In poultry farming, small details can make or break your farm. Every morning, check your birds closely. Watch how they move, eat, and react. Small changes, if noticed early, can prevent major problems.
4. Pay Attention to Warning Signs
Birds always communicate with their behavior. Loss of appetite, unusual quietness, strange smells, or slow movement are signs of trouble. Know your birds well and act fast when you notice anything unusual.
5. Do Not Change Feed Carelessly
Sudden changes in feed can shock your birds' system, causing stress, sickness, and lower performance. If you must switch feeds, mix old and new feed gradually over several days to help the birds adjust smoothly.
6. Never Let Your Birds Run Out of Water
Water is life. A bird can survive longer without feed but only a few hours without water. Lack of water leads to heat stress, weak immunity, and death. Always provide clean, fresh water without fail.
7. Only Give Water You Can Drink Yourself
Waterborne diseases are deadly and difficult to control.
