DON'T LET YOUR PAST HOLD YOU BACK

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." - Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)

Yesterday's mistakes, failures, and hurts can weigh heavily on our minds, making us wonder if we'll ever move forward. But God says, "Forget the former things!" He's not asking us to erase our memories, but to shift our focus from what's behind to what's ahead.

The Israelites, fresh out of slavery, faced a daunting wilderness. But God promised to make a way where there seemed to be none. Just like them, we have a choice: let our past define us or let God's promise propel us forward.

Philippians 3:13-14 reminds us, "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me..." (NIV).

God sees potential in you, even where you see scars. Don't let shame, guilt, or regret hold you back. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, NIV).

Steps to overcoming the past:
* Don't dwell on the past, rather focus on what God is doing now.
* Release the guilt, shame and anger.
* Renew your mind with scripture.
* Focus your mind with God's promises and character.

Beloved, release your past to God and step into His new thing. What wilderness is, He's making a way through for you.

*Prayer:* Lord, help me let go of my past and trust Your promise for a brighter future. Amen 🙏.

Title: God Does Great and Mighty Things

Text: Jeremiah 32:17, Psalm 126:2-3, Acts 2:11

Beloved, have you ever faced a situation that seemed impossible? A mountain too high to climb? A giant too big to defeat? Today, we're reminded that our God does great and mighty things! He's the God who brings light to darkness, hope to despair, and life to death.

Note the following;

- God's Power is Limitless

"Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you." - Jeremiah 32:17

God's power is limitless. He created the universe with a word. He parted the Red Sea. He raised Jesus from the dead! Think about it - the same God who did all these mighty acts is the same God who's with us today.

- He can turn impossible situations around (Genesis 18:14)
- He can make a way where there's no way (Isaiah 43:19)
- He can bring joy in the midst of sorrow (John 16:20)

- God Does Great Things

"When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, 'The Lord has done great things for them.'" - Psalm 126:2-3

God does great things! He restores, he heals, he delivers. When we trust him, he'll do great things in our lives. Look at the testimonies of:
- David defeating Goliath (1 Samuel 17)
- Daniel in the lion's den (Daniel 6)
- Jesus feeding the 5,000 (Matthew 14:13-21)

- The Holy Spirit Empowers

"...and they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, 'What does this mean?'" - Acts 2:11

The Holy Spirit empowers us to do great and mighty things! On the day of Pentecost, the disciples spoke in tongues, and 3,000 were saved. The same Spirit lives in us, enabling us to:
- Share the gospel with boldness (Acts 4:31)
- Heal the sick and cast out demons (Mark 16:17-18)
- Love and serve others selflessly (Galatians 5:22-23)

- Things to do:

- Believe he can do the impossible, even when it seems crazy.
- Step out, knowing God's with you. Like Peter stepping out of the boat (Matthew 14:29).
- Anticipate God working through you. You're not just a believer, you're a vessel for greatness!

Beloved, Our God is the God of great and mighty things! Let's trust him, step out in faith, and see his power unleashed in our lives.
