We almost lost a good employee because we thought she was a bad one.

About a year ago, we deployed one of our staff to a residential apartment for routine janitorial services.

Almost every day, there was one complaint or another.

“She does this.”

“She doesn’t do that.”

We kept listening and addressing the complaints.

Then one day, I decided we should redeploy her.

We moved her to another residential apartment where she works four times a week.

A year later…

The client called me.

She wants me to be present, or send an Embish representative, to join her in celebrating this same lady’s one-year work anniversary.

No complaints.

In fact, according to her appraisal and the client’s feedback, she has been excellent. She sometimes goes beyond what is expected of her.

Honestly, I am happy for her.

When managing people, I usually investigate before reaching a conclusion.

The employee can be the problem.

The client can be the problem.

The environment can be the problem.

And two people can simply be a bad fit for each other.
