Bandits Abduct IBEDC Workers Along Ibadan-Ijebu Expressway, Demand N300m Ransom as Families Raise Alarm
Two staff members of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) from the Sagamu/Ikenne Business Unit have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ogunmakin area along Ibadan-Ijebu expressway, Ogun State.
The incident happened on April 29, 2026, while the workers were carrying out official duties for the company.
The kidnappers are demanding a total ransom of N40million to 20million for each victim. Despite ongoing talks with the families, the amount has not been reduced.
According to family members, the abductors contacted them using one of the victim’s phones. During a recent video call with his wife, both victims were seen badly beaten and in poor condition. Their families fear for their lives if urgent help does not come.
One of the victims is reported to be a relative of the source of this report. The family described the situation as heartbreaking and said the victims are suffering serious injuries.
The families also claimed that when they informed IBEDC headquarters, they were told to handle the situation themselves, with the company allegedly saying it was not their responsibility.
This has raised concerns, as the workers were said to be on official duty at the time of the attack.
The families are calling on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, and Amotekun Corps, to act quickly and rescue the victims.
They also appealed to the Ogun State Government and the Federal Ministry of Power to step in and ensure the safe return of the workers.
The families are urging the public to share the information widely to attract attention and speed up rescue efforts.

Ado-Odo Begins 2nd Coronation Anniversary Rites with the Fetching of Ìjí Water
There is a quiet power that comes with tradition, one that binds the past to the present and prepares a people for what lies ahead. That spirit came alive in Adó as the Adherents of the African Traditional Religion formally began the commencement of activities marking the 2nd Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty, Aláyélúwà Ọba Olúṣọlá Idris Adébọ̀wálé Làmídì-Ọsọ́lọ̀ [ANIMN, MCIHRM, MIPMA], the Oba of Adó and Olófin Adimula Oòduà of Àwórìland.
The activities began on Monday, 4th May, 2026, not with noise or spectacle, but with something far more profound, which was the sacred rite of fetching the Ìjí Water by the Olóòṣà who gathered in their numbers to observe this age-old tradition.
The Ìjí water entails purity, renewal and divine connection. It is the water through which prayers are lifted, through which the land is spiritually cleansed and through which the people seek the blessings of the ancestors and the gods.
Supplications were offered for peace in the land, steady progress, prosperity, divine guidance for the throne and every son and daughter of our dear kingdom and the entire Àwórìland.
His Majesty has expressed deep appreciation to all Olóòṣà, chiefs, priests, priestesses and the entire people of Ado-Odo whose presence and participation give life to these sacred observances.
Chief Kazeem Akinsola Nasir [CFM, CABM, MERIN],
The Ìríjú Oba & Secretary to the Palace of the Oba of Adó & Olofin Adimula Oodua of Aworiland.
