15 Private Health Facilities Shut Down In Niger State As One Fake Doctor Gets Arrested In Suleja

The Niger State Private Health Facilities Agency has shut down 15 private health facilities and arrested a man allegedly posing as a medical doctor during an enforcement operation in the Suleja Local Government Area of the state.

Executive Chairman of NiSPHFA, Dr Abdullahi Suleiman, disclosed this during an inspection in Suleja on Saturday after the agency’s task force carried out inspections of selected private health facilities in the area.

He said the operation followed intelligence reports and routine regulatory inspections aimed at sanitising the healthcare sector and protecting residents from unsafe medical practices.

Suleiman said the task force sealed Ellamara Specialist Hospital after discovering that a suspect was allegedly providing medical services without the required qualifications, professional registration and a valid practising licence.

He warned owners of private health facilities against employing unqualified personnel, stressing that the agency would not tolerate any action capable of endangering patients’ lives.

“The affected facility has been sealed pending the conclusion of investigations, while the suspect has been handed over to security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution,” he said.

Suleiman disclosed that a total of 15 private health facilities were shut down during the exercise for various regulatory infractions, including failure to meet operational standards and non-compliance with licensing requirements.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious healthcare practices to the appropriate authorities.

Suleiman reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to strengthen oversight of private healthcare establishments and ensure that only qualified professionals provide medical services across the state.

Court Sentences Five Men Linked To Papiri School Attack To 25 Years Jail Each

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced five men arrested by the DSS over their involvement in the November 2025 attack on St. Joseph Catholic Church School in Papiri, Niger State, to 25 years imprisonment each.

The judgment was delivered on Thursday by Justice Binta Nyako after the defendants pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges brought against them by the Federal Government.

Two of the convicts are citizens of the Republic of Niger, while the others are from Niger State, Nigeria.

The convicts are named as follows:

** Yusuf Muhammad (also known as Bature)
** Goni Ibrahim Bindi (alias Goni Mutua)
** Sani Tukur (alias Danladi),
** Mubarak Ibrahim, and
** Musa Alhaji Adamu (alias Gado Banufe) —

They were accused of supporting terrorist activities and unlawfully facilitating the movement of weapons intended for members of the Boko Haram insurgent group.

According to court documents, the five men conspired between April 23 and 24, 2026, to transport 15 AK-103 rifles and 1,434 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition from the Diffa Region of Niger Republic to a suspected Boko Haram member identified as Malam Ahmad in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The offences contravened provisions of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and the Fi****ms Act.

The DSS arrested the suspects on May 31, 2026, during separate operations.

During one of the arrests, operatives reportedly recovered the cache of weapons and ammunition concealed inside sacks in a Volkswagen Golf vehicle.

The arms, ammunition and vehicle were tendered as exhibits during the trial.

Justice Nyako subsequently ordered the forfeiture of the vehicle to the Federal Government.

The swift prosecution and sentencing of the suspects has drawn attention as one of the fastest terrorism-related trials conducted in Nigeria in recent years.
