“INTERNET SLANG “/ “CHAT ABBREVIATIONS”
Are you in this category?
Don't pretend not to be. 😜
“Internet Slang” is the practice of using abbreviations or phonetic substitutions in informal written communication, such as "nd" for "and" or "wat" for "what,"
Other words for Internet Slang are;
▶️texting shorthand
▶️text speak
▶️internet slang
▶️chat abbreviations
This type of language is commonly used in digital communication, such as text messages, social media posts, and online chats, to save time and characters while typing.
✍️It's essential to note that while these abbreviations are acceptable in casual communication, they may not be appropriate in more formal contexts as this can pose several disadvantages or drawbacks such as :
🎯Miscommunication: You may not be universally understood, which can lead to confusion or misinterpretation of the intended message.
🎯Lack of Clarity: Texting shorthand can sacrifice clarity and accuracy in communication and makes it difficult for the reader to fully grasp the meaning.
🎯Informality: This technique of communication can come across as informal and may not be suitable for experienced or formal contexts where proper language usage is expected.
🎯Impact on Writing Skills: When this style of texting is frequently used, it can lead to a decline in writing skills, as individuals may become accustomed to using shortcuts rather than practising proper grammar and spelling.
🎯Limited Expression: Using abbreviations might limit one's ability to express complex ideas or emotions effectively due to the restricted vocabulary.
🎯Understanding: Overuse of texting shorthand could result in others perceiving the writer as less serious or less intelligent, especially in situations where clear communication is essential.
🎯Loss of Linguistic Richness: Speech is a tool for expressing thoughts, emotions, and nuances. Relying heavily on shorthand can result in a loss of the richness and depth that language offers.
🎯Complication in Transition: People who frequently use Internet slang might find it challenging to switch to formal language when required, such as in educational or professional writing or examination.
🎯Misuse in Formal Settings: Mistakenly using texting shorthand in formal documents, emails, or academic papers can harm credibility and professionalism.
🎯Social Implications: Some people may view excessive use of texting shorthand as a lack of effort or respect in communication, potentially impacting relationships.
In summary, while Internet Slang can be convenient in casual conversations, it's important to consider the context and audience when deciding whether to use it.
Striking a balance between CASUAL and FORMAL communication is crucial to avoid the potential drawbacks associated with overusing abbreviations and shortcuts.

I HATE SLURPING/CHOMPING SOUND😡
Do you?
Slurping or Chomping is the act of making a loud sucking noise while consuming liquids or eating, often done when drinking something like soup, noodles, beverage, or chewing any kind of food.
These terms describe the audible and noisy sounds made while consuming liquids and/or while eating and can be considered
impolite or bothersome in certain cultures or situations.
Other words for slurping or chomping include;
➡️ sipping noisily
➡️ gulping
➡️ smacking
➡️ Chewing
➡️ munching
I had a friend with this bad eating habit and efforts to correct this were thwarted.
If you have dined with people with this bad eating habit, you can attest to how uncomfortable it is.

The words ‘hear’ and ‘listen’ are most easily confused in grammar.
It's crucial to note the difference between these two words to be able to use them correctly in our daily communication with people.
Hearing’ is an event; it is something which happens to us as a natural cycle.
‘Listening’ is an action; it is something we do deliberately.
Let's compare the two words in a sentence.
Hear : The line is very bad. I can’t hear you.
Listen: Smith! Listen to me! I have something important to tell you.
Sometimes we can use either hear or listen to, depending on whether we want to emphasise the event or the action:
Example: I love hearing/listening to the sound of falling rain.
➡️I can hear you. ✅
➡️I am hearing you. ❌ (It's wrong to use ‘hear’ in a continuous form)
Did you learn something?
