Joseph Nyamkor from Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State was once a man many people admired. He worked hard on his farm, owned a car, built his own house, and lived happily with his wife and two children. Life was good, and the future looked bright. But life has a way of changing without warning.

Suddenly, everything Joseph had fell apart. His wife left living with the children, his car was involved in an accident, and he lost his home. The man who once provided for others became the one in need. With no food to feed himself and his children, desperãtion pushed him to take food from other people’s farms just to survive. Instead of compassion, he was caught and punished as a thiêf.

Many people judged him based on what they saw in that moment, forgetting that he was once successful and hardworking. They did not ask what led him there. They did not consider his paîn, lõss, or struggle.

Joseph’s story is a reminder that life can humble anyone. Today’s comfort can become tomorrow’s hardship. Instead of looking down on people because of their current situation, we should show empathy and understanding. Kindness costs nothing, but it can save a life.
