As we mark ๐ช๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ, the conversation goes beyond access to hospitals; it is about whether those facilities can function at all.
In many last-mile coastal communities, the absence of reliable power limits essential services, from vaccine storage to emergency care, leaving the most vulnerable at risk.
In 2023, the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta - PIND, in collaboration with the U.S. Government-led Power Africa ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต ๐๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ง๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐๐น๐น๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ (๐๐๐ง๐), supported access to renewable energy for healthcare facilities across the region. Through this initiative, PIND drove solar electrification effortsโbringing power closer to communities and improving access to care.

Youth across the region are stepping forwardโshaping conversations and influencing decisions at the national level. Itโs a clear reminder that nothing for youth, without youth, must remain the foundation of true inclusion.
As we reflect on the Zonal Youth Consultations for the National Youth Policy, weโre turning the conversation back to you.

At our recent South-South Zonal Consultation, one truth became undeniable: Inclusion is not a "favor" to the youthโit is a technical necessity for regional stability.
When we stop treating young people as mere beneficiaries and start recognizing them as experts in their own lived realities, policy stops being a document on a desk and becomes an engine for impact.
Temple Halliday captured this shift perfectly during our sessions. At NDLink, we aren't just facilitating conversations; we are institutionalizing a new standard for governanceโone where the youth have a permanent, structural seat at the table.
We are moving beyond the consultation room and into the implementation phase, ensuring these "expert realities" shape the future of the Niger Delta from the ground up.

In Rivers State, ๐ก๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ธ, in collaboration with Nigeria Youth SDGs Network, brought together young voices from across the South-South for the National Youth Policy Review consultation.
We created a space where lived experiences met policy design. Young people spoke not just as participants, but as experts of their own realities, contributing insights that will shape Nigeriaโs evolving youth policy.
One message stood out: the challenge is not a lack of ideasโit is building systems that turn those ideas into real impact. From digital opportunities and talent mobility to sustaining youth-led enterprises, the conversations focused on what it takes to turn ambition into action.
For NDLink, this is what meaningful inclusion looks likeโbridging the gap between policy and lived experience, and ensuring youth voices shape the decisions that affect their future.

The 2nd Niger Delta Games proved that the potential is there. However, identification is only the entry point.
The fundamental challenge for stakeholders remains:
By utilizing the data gathered during the games, stakeholders can create a structured route to move youth from local identification to international professional excellence.

The Niger Deltaโs rich cultural and ethnic diversity is a powerful, yet untapped, driver of sustainable development. Local systems, ranging from farming and fishing networks to markets and festivals, can create jobs, strengthen livelihoods, and foster resilient communities.
By engaging local governance structures and cultural economies, development initiatives can be more inclusive, community-led, and impactful.
