“I checked my daughter as a mother, and she has been touched. I’m calling on the government and police to arrest this man to pay for what he did to my daughter.”

“We also express worry about the safety of young girls in Ogbogoro as the incident seems to be a recurring one considering the fact that a similar incident happened on February 15, 2024, in the same Ogbogoro, where a 42-year-old man and two of his gang members abducted a 12-year-old girl to an uncompleted building where she was defiled for days.
“The police must ensure that such incidents do not become a norm in that area.”

International Human Rights Day:Activist Cautions Against Stomach Activism, Blackmail Calls For Equality
A human rights advocate, Prince Wiro has cautioned against stomach activism, blackmail by acclaimed human rights advocates even as he called for equality in human rights advocacy by individauls and group.
Prince Wiro who is also the National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability campaign in a statement in commemoration of the United Nations International Human Rights Day 2023 with the theme :"Freedom,Equality and Justice For All" said there cannot be equality in human rights in Nigeria if activists gives preference to advocacy against infringement on rights of the rich,Politicians, known figures over infringement on rights of the poor, down trodden, voiceless in the society because of material/cash benefits which he described as 'stomach activism'.
He said some activists only put on their garment of activism when the rights abuse is against the rich, politician, known figures in society because of monetary gain but shy away when it involves the down trodden in the society.
The Rights Advocate stated that for there to be justice for all, the State apparatus, judicial system, constitution must ensure equality when dealing with individauls irrespective of their social status in the society.
He also cautioned against blackmail by rights advocates/organizations that use it as a tool to extort money from oppressors and rights abusers while adding that such practice is a sharp deviation from principles from human rights advocacy and encourages oppressors to perpetrate rights abuses.
Our correspondents reports that the significance of human rights day celebration 10th December every year,is to reflect on the progress made in promoting human rights and to highlight the challenges that persist.
We Join Other Well Meaning Individauls And Organizations In The World To Mark International Human Rights Day With The Theme "Freedom,Equality And Justice For All".
Human Rights Is A Fundamental Rights Of Every Citizen. Government At All Levels Must Be Committed In Ensuring Equality In Human Rights Of Its Citizens Irrespective Of Their Social Status.

Take Of Prince Wiro,National Coordinator Of Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campain On 27 Year old Onyekachi Ugiri, Native of Anambra State and Pro-Governor Siminalayi Fubara Protester Killed By Bullet Allegedly Fired By Police On Tuesday,31st October,2023 At Old GRA PortHarcourt.
It is very worrisome that National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN),Rivers State branch has not deemed it fit to visit the family of Onyekachi Ugiri who was protesting in favour of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a Youth before he met his untimely death.
Let me assume though not conceding that Amb.Chijioke Ihunwo is being security conscious because his being trailed by some persons, are there no other executives who can visit, condole with the family of the deceased? The action of NYCN so far on this matter in my view is insensitive and smacks irresponsibility.
I call on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to provide succour to the family of the slain Onyekachi Ugiri by directing the new Commissioner of Police,CP Tunji Disu to order a comprehensive and encompassing investigation into the killing of Onyekachi Ugiri with a view to ensuring justice on the matter and recovering the remains of the deceased.
It is not also out of place if Governor Siminalayi Fubara visits the family of the deceased directly or in proxy considering the fact that Mr Onyekachi Ugiri died while protesting in defence of the mandate of Governor Fubara.
Posterity will surely judge our actions and inactions in certain matters.
As an organization that places premium on human life, Centre For Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign has being in constant touch with the family of the deceased since the day of the incident to ensure justice is served.
