PRESS RELEASE: LIBRETTO AFRICAN ANTHOLOGY PRIZE (LAAP) CANCELATION ANNOUNCEMENT

We regret to announce that the much-anticipated 2024 Libretto African Anthology Prize (LAAP) For Children Literature will no longer be moving forward as planned. After careful review, we found that we did not receive enough quality submissions to meet the high standards we have set for this publication.

At Libretto, our mission has always been to provide a platform for outstanding creative voices and to deliver a collection that resonates deeply with our readers. While this decision was not an easy one, we believe it is the right choice to preserve the integrity and vision of the anthology.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took the time to submit their work and support this initiative. For contributors whose pieces were under consideration, we will be reaching out individually regarding next steps.

In our commitment to fostering creativity, the libretto African Anthology Prize (LAAP) will this year focus on recognizing and celebrating outstanding playwriting talent in Africa, showcasing the artistry of African drama. Further announcements will be made regarding the submission guidelines in due time.
