POLICE EXTORTION AND ABDUCTION IN IMO
Another disturbing allegation of police brutality and extortion in Imo: a young man claims officers stopped him, abducted him, threatened to shoot him and allegedly forced him to surrender his ATM PIN before withdrawing ₦582,000.
Sadly, allegations of police extortion, harassment and unlawful detention continue to surface across Imo State, with little or nothing seemingly done about it.
At some point, the silence becomes a statement.
A government that allows citizens to be brutalised by those meant to protect them, through its silence and body language, gives the impression that such brutality is acceptable.
Imo people deserve protection, not extortion, abduction or brutal¡ty.

So, all of you who are promising your constituents heaven and earth, please promise less. Under this government, there may be little or nothing to work with.
And for those expecting to get in through “results from above” if your people didn’t vote for you, who exactly are you planning to do constituency projects for?

CP Audu Garba Bosso I put it to you that you're leading a criminal syndicate as the Imo state Commissioner for police.

Just a few weeks ago, my friend was assaulted by your men. When he told me how much he suffered in the hands of your police officers and how much they extorted from him, I thought he was joking. Little did I know today would be my own turn.

Someone sent me a waybill from Lagos but the waybill was mistakenly sent to Owerri instead of Orlu where I stay. When the waybill arrived and I was called to come and get it. I decided to use one stone to kill two birds. I had a lot of tear-tear money with me that had pilled up for months. I run a POS business and when people deposit money especially in large amounts, Some tear tear money will follow enter. But when it's time to pay people, people will start rejecting some of the cash. So what we do is to keep the badly torn/rejected ones separate and when it gets big we will mix them with good ones and go and deposit them in the bank.

That was what I decided to do today. Since I was going to Owerri to pick up a waybill I also decided to use the opportunity to carry the tear tear money that has pilled up to bank since today is Monday and banks do not open here in Orlu on Mondays because of the Monday sit at home.

On our way to Owerri a group of Police officers that were conducting stop and search stopped our bus and asked everyone to come down. They searched everyone and discovered a cash of 300k on me. They asked what the money was for and I explained but all my explanations were felling on deaf ears. They told me I was part of a kidnapping syndicate and the money was my own share of a ransom paid to us. They asked me to enter motor which I did not knowing that would be beginning of their torment and physical assault. Nothing your men didn't do to me. This one would hit me from here another would hit my head while the third one would kick me with his boot. I asked them when carrying cash became a crime in Nigeria. But the more I told them I didn't know what the were talking about, the more your men tormented me. Soon 3 other innocent people they arrested joined me in the vehicle. One of them was arrested because he had a lady's pant in his bag. Your men said they were taking us to the station and I told them I was willing to follow them to the station. If not for any other thing let me know what my offense was. CP Audu Garba Bosso this got your men more angry and that was when one started to hit my head with the butt of his gun. CP Audu Garba Bosso your men drove us from around Nworie Ubi into Owerri. While in the vehicle they kept asking us how much we were going to pay. I didn't even utter a word. The one sitting close to me was hitting my head anyhow. If he asks how much I was going to pay to secure my release and I don't reply, he will blow my head. Dear Commissioner, it was a very terrifying experience in the hands of your men today. CP Audu Garba Bosso your men drove us into the state CID. But instead of dropping us off at the station. Your men reversed and took us to a lonely street. They asked us how much we were going to pay. That if we didn't pay, they were going to drop us off at the station that they were just pitying us. One of us accepted to pay them 40,000. They drove us to a POS girl's shop and withdrew the money after which they left the guy to go. They asked me how much I was going to pay but when I wouldn't respond they gave me a general beating. I kept insisting I was innocent and didn't know what they were talking about. CP Audu Garba Bosso another one of us accepted to pay them 30,000. They took us to the same POS girl and withdrew the money. When they were certain I was not giving in to their demands. They took me and the last person left back to the lonely street and asked me to get down. When I got down they zoomed off with my money. My hard earned money CP
