🧱 NAIJA CONSTRUCTION DAILY 🔨

Today's Topic: Why Your House Dey Crack 6 Months After Roofing 😩

No be jazz. Na poor foundation and greedy builders or you wanting to cut cost.
Truth is, many new buildings in Nigeria are disasters waiting to happen, because people cut corners and trust the wrong hands.

– Some so-called contractors no sabi basic soil test.
– Relatives dey pocket your money, use substandard rods and cement.
– And you? You dey abroad or busy, thinking “family is handling it.” Omo!

Quick Tips to Avoid Wahala: ✅ Do soil test before you dig foundation (especially swampy areas).
✅ Always double-check iron rod size – 10mm is not 8mm!
✅ Never buy cement from untrusted people “promo boys.” high chance it’s rebag.

🚨 You can’t afford to or be careless with your dream home.
Start right. Supervise well. Trust but verify.
Your house is not a “family project,” it’s your legacy.

🏗️ DAILY CONSTRUCTION TIP – NIGERIA EDITION

Topic: Don’t Let Cement Cheat You. How to Measure Properly 🧱

Too many builders are losing money because of wrong cement measurements. Some “contractors” will tell you one bag is enough for 50 blocks. LIE🤥

✅ Standard ratio for block molding is: 1 bag of cement = 20–25 blocks (for solid quality)
Anything more = weak blocks. But as Nigerians trying to economize, 35 should be your max measure for standard mould.

🚫 Watch out for:
- Labourers using extra sand to “stretch” the mix
- Mixing on bare soil (you lose cement to the ground, always build bunkers)
- Buying blocks from from open markets with fake brands will leave your structure weak, it's recommended you mould the blocks for your structure yourself.

Pro Tip: Always insist on mixing in your presence. Better still, let them measure the sand and cement in your presence. Na your money dey ground o!
