As we wake up to the realization that we're already three months into the new year, it's a perfect time to reflect on the plans we made at the beginning of the year and assess our progress. Have we taken action on the strategies we outlined? Have we diligently worked on improving our craft, or have we been waiting for the elusive 'perfect time' to start?

Let's remember that the perfect moment may never arrive. It's March already, and the time for action is now. Let's recommit ourselves to our goals, take bold steps forward, and make tangible progress towards our aspirations.

Whether it's refining our financial habits, pursuing entrepreneurial ventures, or investing in personal development, let's embrace this month with determination and enthusiasm.

Let's make March the month of action and progress!

Best regards,
SMS team.

The Christmas period is a time of reflection. It's a time to sit down and reflect about life in general. A time to think about your spirituality, finances, academics and life in general.

The holiday is meant to allow you time to take stock. To review your year, and see what you did wrong, as well as the things you did right. A time to look at the goals that were actualized and why, as well as the ones that failed and the reason why.

In the spirit of celebration, the Smart Money Student Community enjoins you to make sober reflections, and set the coming year right. Leave 2023 in 2023, only pick up the lessons and apply it in the coming year.

Warm regards from SMS.
We're rooting for you.

*Key takeaways from the just concluded CV webinar*

The major factor that determines if you'd even get to the interview stage is what you put into your CV.

It takes recruiters about 6 secs to makes a hiring decision, so you have to get your CV right if you really want to get the job.

As a result, you need to speak the language of the recruitment.

What you should add to your CV
* The requirements - make sure the job requirements feature well in your CV. ie lay emphasis on the job requirements that you met, as those are the initial things the recruiters look out for.
* Specific contributions you made in your previous jobs or internship
* Areas of interest (instead of hobbies)

What you shouldn't add
* Titles not related to the job
* Job experiences that has no connection with the one you're looking for

No industry experience?
* Then add any volunteer work that you've done in the past, and the skills you were able to gain from it, and how those skills would be beneficial in the job you're applying.
* Transferable skills such as detail management, time management, communication skills, planning, collaboration

The Don'ts
* Don't send a CV without a body of letter. You must construct a body of letter to go with your CV, this highly contributes to whether your CV would be read or not.
* Don't send a video of your CV. Send a PDF instead.
* Don't put all the names you've ever identified with, a simple first and last name would do

Getting a job is a job on its own, and if you must construct a CV, you have to do it well.

At SMS, we believe that the key to sustainable socio-economic development lies amongst young people.

Which is why for the past three years we have being committed to empowering undergraduates in mostly rural communities to be economically productive as a way to reduce the drop out rate and pay it forward when it comes to unemployment.

To scale our efforts to reach more undergraduates, we are designing a free business mentorship course for undergraduates.

This course is necessitated by my interactions with several undergraduates who are entrepreneurs and business owners but lack the common knowledge to grow their businesses.

We would be partnering with skilled entrepreneurs and business owners to make this happen.

If you want to help an undergraduate thrive and become economically productive, so we foster an economy inclusive of young people, I look forward to hearing from you.

If you know any undergraduates, invite them to watch this space.

Landing your dream job isn't that difficult, if you have the right information.

One of the things you need to get right is the quality of the CV you right. A good CV gives you a good "first impression" and stands you above the rest.

Writing a CV is easy, but writing an outstanding CV ... That may be difficult. You need to know the right information, and you need to know how to structure it well.

Our speakers would be dealing with this extensively on the upcoming webinar. To save a space for yourself, click on the link below right now๐Ÿ‘‡: https://forms.gle/WPZhsEwsTRusdg7k7
