It’s not your decision to make!
I’ve come to understand majorly in this part of the world, parents decide or choose career pathways for their ward/children. Often times, this is as a result of personal gains or interest.
Today in our societies, we have too many unfulfilled, unhappy and people walking in the shadows of their parents( ie… children whose parents has successfully made to fulfill an ambition, career or dream they couldn’t accomplish). Research have it in a 2021 study published in Developmental Psychology, that around 23% of children suffer this dis- functional lifestylel, just imagine what percentage it is now?
As a graduate of Educational Technology and happy with my career path, it’s how I once didn’t enjoy and want to practice the course I started off into the university. Back then as an undergraduate, and even now, when you hear what some children or student’s remark on their course of study or experience in school, you wonder if parents truly listen to their children or take out time to understand their children and their strength.
Comparisons won’t put your ward at their peak or bring out the best from them. With twins, there’s no certainty of them doing or having interest on similar things. Let this be a wake up call to parents, caregivers/guidance to allow flexibility and let their wards take up the decision of making the choice of their career paths. It’s true some wards can want to go rogue, but in instances as this, your place is to bring guidance and support, fully knowing it's your ward who will go doing all the studying, taking the assessments and expected to produce good grades, and it’s best they made this important decision by themselves.
Take out time to apply the pointers below:
Be a guide and not control.
Teach and not force.
Build and not break.
The support you give your wards go a long way in shaping their future and the society at large.
PS: my sign out day from the university, which happened to be my happiest day because it’s been a long time coming.

Learning is progressive, but how you measure it matters. Every child has the potential for greatness—sometimes, they just need the right guidance to unlock it!

A different Approach!!
Formal education is good and should be encouraged at all cost but what if the unexpected happens? It's good children do according to the bidding of their parents on career selection but what if the parents learns to listen to the child and hear him/her out?
The balance in these two scenarios all lies in the strength, desires and happiness of the child in play. The reason why many children don't really perform well in a given task/function, is because, either they are forced, compared or no enough reinforcement. If narrowed down to education, watch the aftermath of always complaining on a child who doesn't do well and the one encouraged and corrected in love.
Learning on its own is not fun because of the systems of education, then couple with the stress of trying to produce a good result but all brought to nothing,is already frustrating. Can I whisper something quickly? Don't add to the stress! If a child is not doing well or producing enough results, then their a reason. Always look out first for the well-being of the child before every other expectations.
Come to think of it, not all children are meant to fully undergo formal education. Once a child can read and write, then the next look out, should be, what's best for the child, not with selfish interest but in the best interest of the child. A child might be having difficulty in science but good in art classes, another might be intellectually sound and the other vocationally sound.
All kids are not expected to produce same results, because as the faces are different, so are the strength and desires. The most look out, in every child should be results, and not similarities of results because comparing A to B, will drain the abilities, potentials, and uniqueness of ever becoming a great child.
Rating a child's success only based on academic performance or ability to perform like other kids, will not only destabilize the child but also ruin the chances of ever seeing good in himself/herself again.
Choose to reinforce more, rather than complaining!
Choose to know the child, rather than compare!!
Choose to believe more, rather than conclude!!!

In creation, you will find; different race, colour, culture and ethnicity. The intention behind all of it's unique, well crafted work from it's creator(God) was for beauty and excellence, serving individual(different) purpose(s).
Diversity brings beauty to creation, imagine having just the male gender, cassava as only farm produce or just one kind of profession(Doctors)?Learning or the education field is not left out, as there are also different domains, types/forms or methods of learning.
Learning is cognitive and it's best handled according to individuality. Comparing the method that works for A to also work for B is completely unaccepted as every individual has been built differently. The brain functions best, when under right conditioning.
In short, embracing individuality of learning simplifies the concept of identifying and applying the learning method(s), that works for you.
