Kogi Deputy Gov Hails Renewed Hope Movement, Says Tinubu’s Policies Already Yielding Results
The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, has commended the Renewed Hope Grassroots Movement for aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a true reflection of the administration’s vision for national recovery.
Speaking during a visit by leaders of the movement from Ofu Local Government to his country home in Ejule on Sunday, the Deputy Governor said the bold reforms of President Tinubu, including the removal of fuel subsidy are beginning to ease the economic pains of Nigerians. He noted that prices of foodstuffs are gradually stabilizing while the economy shows encouraging signs of recovery.
Comrade Joel explained that the Renewed Hope Agenda has also had positive ripple effects at the state level, as many governors are now able to pay full salaries and pensions for the first time in history. According to him, this has brought significant relief to civil servants and retirees, restoring public confidence in government.
“The hope of Nigerians is being renewed by the day,” he said, expressing optimism that before 2026, more citizens would begin to testify to the visible improvements in governance and the economy.
He further listed various federal relief initiatives aimed at lifting citizens out of poverty and improving their livelihoods, describing the Tinubu-led administration as “a government truly for the people.”
The Deputy Governor also expressed confidence in the leadership of the Renewed Hope Grassroots Movement, urging them to sustain their mobilization efforts to consolidate the administration’s gains ahead of future elections.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the Renewed Hope Grassroots Movement in Ofu Local Government, Mrs. Hanatu Odiba, said her visit was to formally inform the Deputy Governor of her appointment and to reaffirm the group’s commitment to promoting unity, advancing the political interests of their principal, and ensuring victory through robust grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A dramatic family dispute has spilled onto social media, with Richmond Macgrey , the former father-in-law of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan, demanding a public apology from the lawmaker.
Macgrey’s Facebook post on Thursday accused Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan of “disrespecting my daughter and family enough” and “taking my daughter’s glory.”
The post was a clear ultimatum: Macgrey demanded that the Senator “publicly apologise and take down these photos,” warning that he would escalate the feud if she failed to comply.
“Don’t forget I kept all the documents you sent me,” he wrote, suggesting he holds sensitive information, and dramatically declared, “The drums are out. We may soon start dancing in the market square.”
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan made a formal allegation of sexual harassment against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio , claiming he made repeated unwanted advances and tied the advancement of her legislative motions to demands for sexual favours—allegations which Akpabio vehemently denied.
Shortly after she went public and filed a petition, the Senate, led by Akpabio, voted to suspend her for six months without pay. The official grounds cited for the suspension were not the sexual harassment allegation, which the Ethics Committee dismissed on procedural grounds, but rather an earlier argument concerning her seating arrangement and alleged disruptive behaviour.
This swift disciplinary action, seen by critics and women’s rights groups as a clear attempt to silence and victimize her for speaking out, sparked nationwide protests and a major debate on gender-based violence and institutional impunity within Nigerian politics.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is a Nigerian Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
She is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and made history as the first elected female senator in Kogi State. Her term began in November 2023 after she won a favorable judgment from the Court of Appeal regarding the 2023 senatorial election.

After serving time in prison, Dani Alves has been found not guilty of r**e.
Life moves on like nothing happened—especially for the woman who destroyed his life. She walks free.
Dani lost everything—absolutely everything, including his family. As a man, the game was rigged against him from the start.
Once worth $60 million, his empire collapsed after being accused of r**e in a Barcelona nightclub bathroom. At 39, Dani spent 14 months in Brians 2 prison.
Sponsors like Puma cut ties, costing him millions. Lawsuits piled up, including a $2.2 million claim from Pumas UNAM. His marriage to Joana Sanz also crumbled, ending in a 2024 divorce filing.
Convicted in February 2024 under Spain’s strict consent laws—based largely on the accuser’s testimony—he was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison and ordered to pay €150,000 in damages (covered in part by allies, including Neymar’s family). Despite proclaiming his innocence, Alves appealed.
On March 28, 2025, Catalonia’s High Court unanimously acquitted him, citing “flaws and inaccuracies” in the evidence, inconsistencies in the woman’s story, and a lack of corroborating proof. He walked free after 839 days behind bars.
Meanwhile, the accuser remains anonymous—and uncharged for an unproven claim.

Kogi Govt Deploys Infrastructure to Curb Erosion, Control Flooding
The Kogi State Government has reiterated its commitment to tackling erosion and flooding through the deployment of infrastructure designed to provide lasting solutions to ecological challenges across the State.
Speaking in Lokoja on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo said the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo-led administration is determined to change the face of Kogi with solution-tailored infrastructure that guarantees safety, sustainability, and improved quality of life for the people.
According to him, newly constructed drainage systems in parts of the State, including Etahi, OMIGBO and Olubojo in Ankpa, have already begun delivering results. “Our drains are working as designed. Rainwater is being efficiently collected and channeled away, reducing the risk of flooding. Within minutes of heavy rainfall, the water is soaked away, leaving communities safe and accessible,” he explained.
The Commissioner further disclosed that the government is leveraging the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project to strengthen flood control measures and reclaim land previously destroyed by ecological challenges.
"Kogi ACReSAL under Barr. Ladi Jatto has become a game-changing platform for the administration as we are making the best of the opportunities offered to drive sustainable solutions to ecological challenges", he said.
Fanwo stressed that the administration’s environmental initiatives reflect Governor Ododo’s vision of building resilient communities through sustainable projects that directly address the peculiar needs of the State.
“Kogi is no longer just reacting to ecological disasters; we are proactively deploying infrastructure that prevents them. This is a new dawn in our approach to flood control and environmental sustainability,” he added.

African Defence Chiefs Call for United Front Against Insecurity as Abuja Summit Concludes
By Buffalo Reporter
Abuja, Nigeria
The inaugural African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit has officially concluded in Abuja, Nigeria, with thirty-seven Defence Chiefs urging stronger continental collaboration to combat insecurity and terrorism across Africa.
The six-day summit tackled a wide range of pressing issues, including border management, regional security, strategic defence cooperation, the role of artificial intelligence in security, public-private partnerships in defence resourcing, and maritime threats.
The Defence Chiefs emphasised that Africa’s destiny transcends the colonial borders that once divided it.
They criticised the continent’s inherited economic and technological frameworks, asserting that these systems are inadequate for Africa’s development.
Instead, they called for homegrown infrastructure and innovation tailored to the continent’s unique needs.
The summit recommended enhanced Defence Cooperation, calling for African nations to coordinate joint operations and strengthen ties among their Defence Forces.
The summit also recommended Smart Border Control, where the Chiefs of Defence emphasised the adoption of intelligent systems to facilitate free movement while safeguarding against transnational crimes, and designating border areas as hubs for socio-economic growth and improved security. They called for community Involvement in border security management.
The Summit also recommended ways of combatting terrorism by establishing early warning systems, capacity-building initiatives, and tackling root causes such as poverty and weak governance.
Other recommendations included developing a continental framework for ethical Artificial Intelligence use in security, alongside talent development and joint research, utilising African Development Bank funds for military bases, training centres, surveillance drones, and logistics and strengthening legal frameworks and resource-sharing to address piracy, illegal fishing, and smuggling.
Commander Zambia Army, Lieutenant General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele, hailed the summit as a success, stressing that no African nation can tackle insecurity in isolation.
He noted that preserving peace in Africa calls for concerted efforts from all member states.
The summit concluded with a unanimous recommendation to institutionalise the gathering as an annual event, with dates for the 2026 edition to be announced.
