Pibcid - Participation Initiative for Behavioural Change In Development

As part of efforts to ensure effective learning outcomes. The Kogi State AGILE Project with funding support by World Bank-under the Alternative/second Chance Education (SCE) Programme through its implementating partner, Participation Initiative for Behavioral Change in Development (PIBCID) successfully carried out implementation support for the distribution of learning primers to the 65 non-formal literacy centres across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

The exercise supported and provide adequate learning materials for newly enrolled learners and the existing learners who have processed to the Life Skills classes with essential instructional materials, while facilitators received orientation on proper learner registration, documentation, and record management to strengthen effective programme implementation.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment to ensuring that out-of-school adolescent girls and young women have access to quality education, life skills, and opportunities for a better future.

Participation Initiative for Behavioural Change in Development in partnership with Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL) and Ministry of Justice organized a one day State Level Dialogue to Commomorate 2026 Trafficking Day in Persons.

"Human trafficking thrives where vulnerability meets deception and where silence allows criminal networks to operate unchecked."

That powerful reminder echoed throughout the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons commemoration held in Kogi State under the global theme, "Trapped Behind the Scam."

The event brought together government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organizations, development partners, educational institutions, the media, youth representatives, disability advocates, and other stakeholders to reaffirm a shared commitment to ending human trafficking in all its forms.

As trafficking increasingly shifts to digital spaces through fake job offers, fraudulent recruitment agencies, online relationships, and cyber-enabled scams, the need for collective action has never been greater.

The dialogue emphasized that combating trafficking requires strong partnerships, increased public awareness, strengthened law enforcement, community vigilance, and sustainable support for survivors.

A major highlight of the meeting was the declaration and inauguration of Anti-Human Trafficking Ambassadors for selected secondary schools and tertiary institutions, who will serve as champions and advocates in raising awareness and mobilising students and communities against the scourge of human trafficking.

The dialogue culminated in a communiqué, outlining key resolutions and commitments on the way forward.
It was indeed a meaningful gathering, reaffirming the commitment of all stakeholders to work together to prevent trafficking, protect victims and survivors, and bring traffickers to justice.

Together, we reaffirmed our resolve to build communities where opportunities are genuine, migration is safe, technology is used responsibly, and every individual's dignity, freedom, and rights are protected.

Ending trafficking is not the responsibility of government alone—it is a collective duty. Let us remain vigilant, speak up against exploitation, and work together to ensure that no one is ever .
