I had a wonderful moment with Afolabi Solebo Esq., the General Manager of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, who shared insights on the agency's journey under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu's leadership.

It's a must-watch as he discusses the importance of consumers actively exercising their rights. The agency is one of the most active in Lagos, helping individuals with various issues, including disputing electricity bills, repurchasing television sets, and obtaining refunds for flight tickets. They have assisted many of us in reclaiming what is rightfully ours when faced with disappointment from manufacturers and suppliers.

Additionally, it's worth noting that even the e-commerce sector is accountable and provides refunds when they fail to meet customer expectations.

BrandXchange, the organizers of the Consumers Value Awards (CVA) 2025 are pleased to announce that the nomination period has been officially extended and will now close on May 30, 2025. This extension offers more opportunity for brands, organizations, and consumers to participate in one of Nigeria’s most credible consumer-centered recognition platforms.

Now in its fourth edition, the CVA continues to champion excellence, transparency, and value in the marketplace by recognizing brands that deliver outstanding consumer satisfaction and uphold ethical standards.

The theme for the 2025 edition – "Beyond Prices – Consumer Trust, Digital Experience and Accountability" – reflects the evolving expectations of consumers in the country. It highlights the need for brands to go beyond pricing strategies and focus on building deeper trust, offering seamless digital engagement, and demonstrating corporate responsibility across every touch point.

"In today’s dynamic consumer landscape, price alone is no longer the sole driver of loyalty," said Akonte Ekine, Convener CVA "Consumers are demanding more transparency, a stronger digital experience, and measurable accountability from the brands they interact with.
