🇳🇬 Nigeria has recorded West Africa’s first tele-robotic surgery.

A patient in Abuja underwent a complex kidney operation while the surgical team operated remotely from Redeemer’s Health Village in Mowe, Ogun State, with the procedure carried out in real time across roughly 500km.

The surgery was a right radical nephrectomy, performed to remove a kidney affected by a cancerous tumour.

The procedure involved Redeemer’s Health Village, RoboMed Global and Nisa Premier Hospital in Abuja, and was led by Prof. Obi Ekwenna-Davis, a professor of Urology and Transplantation and co-founder of RoboMed Global.

Beyond the milestone itself, tele-robotic surgery could create new possibilities for connecting specialist surgical expertise with patients in different locations.

🚨 LAGOS FLOOD ALERT

The Lagos State Government has directed residents in flood-prone and low-lying communities to temporarily move to higher ground as flood risks increase across parts of the state.

Some people who interacted with the links have reported losing ₦1.8 million, almost ₦400,000 and $2,500.

At this point, it feels like we have to question almost everything we buy.

Fake and counterfeit products are not a new problem in Nigeria, but the scale of the problem and how difficult some of these products are to identify raises a bigger question: how do we protect consumers when spotting a fake is becoming harder?

The responsibility cannot sit entirely with the person standing in a shop trying to decide whether a product is genuine.

We need stronger systems for verification, better tracking, effective enforcement and easier ways to report suspicious products.

Because when a fake can look this real, trust should not have to be a guessing game.

Katsina State just launched a fleet of 238 tricycle ambulances to serve rural areas, alongside 18 advanced ones. This happened right after commissioning the newly upgraded Charanchi General Hospital.

It’s a solid step for emergency healthcare access if the vehicles are managed properly.
