I stared at my reflection in the mirror, tears dropping from my eyes.
I can't believe I fought?! Like I fought and defended myself and the hell.. How was I able to see through that girl's bag.. It wasn't even transparent..

How did that happen?
And why did I suddenly feel like a different force was taking over my body.. I knew it wasn't me back there, I possibly can't have that much morale..

Something else led me and as much as it bit more at my curiosity, I still couldn't help but feel proud of myself.. That will be the first time in many years that I'll have been so fierce or should I say self-defending.

But still..really, how did that happen??
I looked at my reflection and apart from the crystal blue color my iris had become, I noticed the cut on my face start to close up, it wasn't too surprising tho..

Melvin had told me that the necklace bears all my pains now and-

Wait.. Could it also have been the cause of my body being controlled or the fact that I see through things?

Wow.. What if it is. What does it even mean?
Could it be good or bad?
Well whatever it is, I don't think I'm comfortable around this new changes.. Everything comes with a bad side right, what if this one Is worse than the good one..

What if?
And why's my eyes now blue, I could see the resemblance from it in Melvin's and the necklace I had on, so it has to be from the necklace..

Geez!

I stare at my eyes from the mirror.. True it's strange but at the same time beautiful..
I've always liked a blue colored eye and it looked good on Melvin too.. I just hope there's nothing more to this.

I heard the bell go off from where I stood and I quickly dabbed my tears, rearranged my hair and head to the exit.. I opened the door and my eyes collided with Clara's, she was obviously just coming in and..
Is she also just coming to school?

"Hey," she called, coming toward me and I gradually close the door and caught up with her. "I heard about what happened. Are you okay?" She asked and I nodded, taking in a quick sniff.

"I'm good now, thanks" I said.

"You should be. You did a great job defending yourself, I could see the surprise on everyone's face" she said, with one of her cute smiles on.

"You think so?" I asked and she nodded. "Well thanks" I added.

I was taken by surprise too!

"Okay, next period's on. Let's go in, just wanted to be sure you were okay" she said and I nodded before following her.

"You're just coming in, aren't you?" I asked her on our way to class.

"Yup. Had to take care of something first" she answered, giving me a cocky smile.

"And you were allowed in by this time?" I asked.

"Of course. Let's just say the authorities were understanding enough" she said and I nodded, the rest of the journey was made in silence.

School ended that day, with me getting most of the stares and caring less about it. After exchanging byes with Clara, I hit the road to the bus station.
"Kayla!" I heard my name from behind and immediately I knew the caller, I could hear his feet running to get to me.

I sighed inwardly and kept walking, he reached me and I turned to him.

"What part of stay away from me do you not understand?" I asked. He stared blankly at me and it took a while for me to see what it was.. I gave him an eye roll and began walking..

"Your eyes.." He started but his voice trailed off.

"They're blue. I know" I told him plainly. "It's from the necklace, isn't it?" I asked and he nodded slowly. "And everything that happened earlier today?"

He nodded again.

"It might look strange at first but you'll get used to it"

"Get used to it?" I repeated "Like I'll be stuck with it for life?"

"No, not for life. It'll disappear once you're able to take the necklace off" he said.

"And when will that happen?" I asked and he shrug.

"I don't know" he replied and I sighed. "But your eyes will be back to normal by tomorrow" he added and I sighed again.

And the good thing goes.

"So I get controlled by something every now and then?"

"Only when necessary" he said and I gave him a confused look. "Look, because of the necklace, you posses a part of me now and it's more like a connection cos a part of my life is with you. And it makes you defensive, it helps when it feels you need it, gives you strength and informs you when there's trouble" he explained and I nodded.

Well, that isn't so bad but I can't understand why I still feel uncomfortable about it.

"That explains why my cut earlier healed up" he said.

"Yes. And can I ask you something?" He asked.

"What?" I asked.

"The guy that offered to help you after the fight, I saw how you stared at him.. You were angry and I was just curious.. Who is he?" He asked.

Jake?

"Well, yes. I was angry and who he is.. Well, it's um none of your business. Keep staying away and I'm taking the bus...So Bye" I rushed my words and quickly hopped into the nearest bus, it began driving and I saw Melvin staring at me from the window. I sighed and pushed my gaze off.
🍥Melvin's POV🍥
I made my way to the cave.
Seems my guess is right after all, that guy didn't seem like a friend. He's probably a rival according to Kayla's reaction and during the fight I couldn't help but see the surprised look on his face..

He obviously haven't seen her that way before and with the way she rejected him, he must be more like an enemy.

But still I'm curious..
The necklace reacted pretty quick,I didn't expect the signs that quick but it did well all the same..

I got to the cave and Belle was in the position I had left her in the morning. She suddenly turned after I entered.

"So," she asked with so much curiosity.

"Good afternoon to you too Belle" I said with a bit of humor and she smiled.

"Well son, if you know how serious it is, you'll save that greeting first" she said and I frowned.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

"It's about Lucinda, tell me Mel.. Did you see the mark?" She asked, etches of curiosity in her face.

Oh that is it.

"Yes Belle, I saw it. It was right behind her neck," I said and she froze..

"So shes-" she stuttered, gulping her words.

"Lucinda? Yes" I said and her eyes popped wider..

"What!" She je**ed, shock evident in her face..

She gave me a look after I burst into laughter..
"I was just kidding!" I said, trying to suppress my laughter. I can't remember when last I've laughed this hard.

"It's not funny" she chided.

"You should've seen your face" I blurted out, still laughing.. She reached for me and slapped my arm as my palm covered my lips.

"Anyone would've acted that way and I wasn't all that shocked at it. I mean you've killed people after sucking their blood, so-" she shrugged nonchalantly "I just hope this joke doesn't get real and takes me as a victim" she said with a slow sigh and I frowned..

Wow..I can't believe she's this scared of me.. Did I freak her out that much?

As I push my gaze back to her, she was getting on her feet and gathering her books..
"Where are you going?" I asked.

"Lunch period's over, I have to leave before I get pitch forked by your many es**rt" she said and walk away.

"Wait for me!" I called after her and stood up too but she only increased her pace.
💄Kayla's POV💄
I walked towards the hall, heading to my locker to fetch my books before beginning my journey back to class. I was drawing closer to my locker when I heard distant footsteps, gradually they drew closer and before I knew it I was roughly pushed and my back hit a wall, sending a sharp pain to it in the process. Suppressing it, I caught my glass from falling but couldn't save my books and I looked up to see whoever pushed me that hard. It was Becky.

"Why did you push me so hard?!" I asked but got a smirk as a response. I ignored it and bent to pick my books but they were brushed aside carelessly by a foot, I looked up and immediately got dragged up by my hair, I whimpered.

"W-what are you doing?" I shrieked, trying to pull myself off.

"Just cut the act and bring it out!" She bellowed, tightening her grip on my hair.

"Let go Becky.. I don't know what you're talking about" I defended.

"Oh please Kayla, you know exactly what I'm talking about and you better hurry up before I beat you real bad" she said and I shut my eyes at my burning scalp.. She was pulling my hair pretty hard and her friends were preventing me from helping myself.

I have no idea what she's talking about..

"But..I don't even understand what you're saying" I cried, "please let go" I said.

"I will if you quit the pretense. Just because I let you get off with the first one doesn't mean I'll do the same for this one, okay. So just bring it out now!" She yelled and I managed to look around to see so much stares at us..
"Tell me Kay, how do you think Melvin will feel knowing that he's hanging out with a shameless thief and a low life. Someone who can't admit her wrongs, huh?" She asked me and I didn't know where the strength came from but I successfully yanked her off me and gave her a frown.
pain itching my sides.

"This is about Melvin?" I asked, catching my breath.

"It's about you stealing my designers silver bangles, I saw you staring hungrily at it in class so you must've taken it!" She spat at my face. "And then you push yourself around Melvin like a desperate bitch! Aren't you the most shameless thing ever?!"

I gulped the hurt.

"I know nothing about your bangles" I replied her simply and bent, gathering up my books and I felt it being pushed off my grip. I looked up to see one of Becky's friend..

"You lying thief!" She sent a slap across my face, disarranging my glasses.. "You had better bring it out it out now or I'll report you to the authorities"

"I said I didn't take them, okay!" I yelled "I don't even know what you're talking about" I defended.
"You-
As she made to hit me again, I caught it and I didn't know how but I was suddenly able to look through the purse she held in her palm and in it I saw three bangles, pretty and very attractive and I had no idea why but I felt like they belonged to Becky.

The missing bangles she was talking about!

"Why don't you bring it out" I said, pushing her hand down.

"What're you-
She couldn't complete her words before I dragged the purse away from her grip and tore it open..

Wait what.. How did that happen? Tearing something as thick as that in one try, I didn't even have to put in much effort.
She tried collecting it from me but by then the whole content of the purse was already on the floor, including the bangles..
I noticed the sudden shock expression on her face.

"What?" Becky said walking toward me. She bent and picked the bangles from the floor "Tina. It was you?" She said, turning to the girl with a flabbergasted look and I could see the shocked expression on everyone's face..
The Tina girl suddenly became sp*echless as she stared at her shoes.

"You Bitch!" She glared at me and I didn't know when I smirked. I could swear I wasn't myself.. I didn't know what was inside my body..
Or controlling it.
She mmediately raised her hand to slap me and I caught it and gave her a slap..

Okay.. What! That wasn't me. What's happening to me.
I twisted her hand backward and pushed her, it was so hard that she fell on the lockers, the handle meeting with her nose and I think I saw blood falling from it. My glass fell in the process and I suddenly became partially blind and she must've taken that as an opportunity cos I felt myself landing on my butt to the floor. I heard whimpers and then angry shouts/gasps, then footsteps.

The footsteps gradually began to go down and while I sat on the floor, I used my palm to sweep the floor hoping it'd touch my glasses but I couldn't reach it.. I didn't even see where it was.

I felt a presence and saw the dim figure of a person.

"Here" I heard the familiar yet distant voice and I immediately caught sight of my glasses and I grabbed it from his hand and put it on.. My sight became clear..

Finally!

My gaze immediately rested on the figure that had become clear and a blank stare rested on my face..
My heart beat with sudden anger.

"Y-you have a cut" he bent and made to touch my cheek but I slapped his hand away, giving him a glare and at the same time a gob smacked look.

How dare him!

"Mind your own business, Jake" I said angrily and stood up, ignoring his offer to help me up. I pushed past him and felt his palm encircling my hand, preventing me from walking.. I gave him a glare.

"Look Kayla-
I yanked my hand off his and walked away to class..

"Kayla wait," Melvin ran up to me.

"Stay away from me!" I told him "All of you!" I yelled, tears blinding a side of my eye and I changed direction and ran to the bathroom, hiding my teary face.
💪Melvin's POV💪
I stared after her as she ran past me, confused about running after her or just staying away as she had said.. Why does she always want me to stay away..
I mean this isn't my fault right?

Or is it?
But how?

It's normal for her not to really see me as a friend but I can't be that bad right? Geez..I must've really scared her..

Well, what else could I have done.. It was the only option I had.

I just really hate myself..

I looked down.
Dejected.

"What the heck happened?" I turned to see Clara staring at me questioningly and breathlessly. Alarmed,I quickly shifted away from her..

"Where's Kayla?" She asked again and I only pointed at the direction she went to without uttering a word.. She nodded and started walking towards it and as she walked, she flipped her hair to her shoulder and I caught sight of it..

The 'L' tattoo?!

I cringed immediately as fear rose up like a bile to my throat..

C-clara is...?
My throat dried up.
So who else remembers Jake? Kayla's ex-boyfriend from chapter one.. Why's he suddenly here?!
plus who can tell what really happened to Kayla??

I looked from Melvin back to Clara who had just taken a bite from her meal and was chewing.
"Okay. I'm kind of not getting this, what do you mean by you know Melvin from the past" I asked.

"Well we used to attend the same school then and duh.. Are you really falling for this, I'm just kidding!" She exclaims with a small frown.. I sighed but gave her a skeptical look.

"What?" Melvin asked "that was a joke?" He asked, uncertainty in his voice.

"Well yes. Except you know me but I don't know you. I can't believe you took that serious" she said, smiling.

"It didn't sound like a joke to me a-and well, why do you both look alike so much and your name's Clara, it's familiar" he said.

"Really? Well I've never met you before Melvin and yeah.. Nice knowing you so how or where do you know me from?" She shrugged.

"Well it's- forget about it. It's been so long and I can't really grab much from it so.. Um I'll just head to class instead" he said and left without another word, many stares accompanying him.
I turned to look at Clara.

"He's pretty good looking tho" she said, with a mouthful of food.
*And he's a beast*
I really don't think she'll say that if she was in my shoes, I don't think anyone will.
I gave her a slight nod and took a sip from her orange juice before getting up to grab mine.
√Melvin's POV√
I stopped, took a deep breath and continued walking.
I can't seem to get her off my head.. Those words, she said them like she knew me, everything about me and then she's Clara and with Kayla's face.. What the heck does it mean?
Could it be a coincidence or is there really something behind her? Who exactly is she?
Why did she talk about not being the Clara in my mind but a different one? She definitely has to know something!
I got to class and just took the first seat I saw, going deep in thought again..
There has to be something about her.. And I need to discover it.

School ended that day with me not being hyped as I was initially, now I just needed to see Belle.. I got out of class, once more pulling the stares and attention seekers aside.. I got out of the building and almost immediately sight Kayla and Clara talking and smiling.. I didn't bother going near, I'm still very much suspicious about her.. I don't know how I got this bad feeling. I reached the cave in no time and Belle was on her usual spot doing whatever.

"Belle," I called and she tilt her head to give me a look. "There's something I need to find out" I said, going towards her and she gave me a full look..

"What is that?" She asked and I told her about Clara, she suddenly had a frown.

"Her name is Clara?" She asked.
"Yes, and it's the same name with my supposed ex.. She also said something about knowing me from the past.. It was like she knows me" I told her and she sighed then became quiet.
"It can't be that she's Clara, right?"

"She isn't. She's evil" she said plainly.

"Evil?" I repeated "like she's bad?"

"It's a guess Melvin and I really hope it's not what I'm thinking but when next you see her, I want you to check the back of her neck for a print, it's a letter 'L'. If she has it then my guess will be completely correct" she said.

"That she might be.. Lucinda?"

"Yes or a co witch on a different mission, for now I can only tell that she's up to no good. Witches have the power to shape-shift, she's doing that to confuse and distract you from your aim. So you should avoid her, especially when you see the 'L' sign on her neck" she said. "It's a hint Melvin but on no account must she be aware of your mission, keep the distance and make it unnoticeable"

My brows narrowed and I gave Belle a nod..
Is Lucinda really that desperate to ruin me?!

"And Kayla, what if she says something to her or she harms her?"

"She won't. I'll find a way to make sure that doesn't happen. She can't harm her" Belle assured.

"Okay" I said and sighed.
👧Clara's POV👧
I stared into granny's inquisitive face.. I just do enjoy leaving her in suspense, I wonder why she didn't read my mind this time.

"Come-on, spill it already!" She snaps and I smiled, shrugging in pride.

"Well, he schools there now and he was really shocked when he saw me.. Well I played a little game on him, it made him so tense and At a time I thought he was going to change or p*e in his pant.. It was so funny I almost laughed" a smile crept to my lips at the thought..

It indeed was such a funny sight. I can't remember when I had such fun last.

I looked at granny and she had a stern frown on, a scolding one. I rolled my eyes.
"Come-on granny it was just a harmless fun, quit giving me that look! And besides I gave him something to think on. Must you always be so old fashioned? Even Gita supports me, right girl?" I talked to the rabbit in my arm and she purred. I rubbed her back with a smile.

"That's my bestie" I smiled at her.

"Fun isn't what you can have in this case, it's a delicate one" she scolds.

"Okay fine. Whatever you say!" I shrugged. "Well, they're both doing a good job hiding that secret" I said.

"I know And now that I have them both where I want them- together. It's about time I strike and do what I came here for" she said.

"Well, as usual.. Do your thing but I'm skipping school tomorrow. I'm tired of having to bear that fat man talk about rubbish" I said.

"No, you won't skip school. We can't tell what happens the day you do so you can't take that risk" she said.

"Whatever. I'll just go late instead and right.. I need that L tattoo on your neck, on mine.. I'm very sure he'll check for it tomorrow-

"I've told you countless time that it isn't a tattoo Nikita, i-

"It's a mission imprint.. Yeah, I get it but I need it anyways.. A copy would do" I told her standing up and walking away.

Mom was at home when I arrived, she said she had just come in and I was very relieved when she informed me that the test results brought out nothing vital. We had dinner together and then I went to bed, as I undressed and changed into my nightwear my hand moved on the necklace, I realized that the blue content in it had decreased.. I sighed and picked a book from my shelf, laid on my bed and began reading.

Morning came the next day, mom dropped me off at the school gate and after a peck or two, I was on my way to the school building.
I tuck my hand into my hoodie pocket and walked down the passageway.. Suddenly I began hearing loud voices behind me and everyone in the hall was looking back while some were running.. I turned to see what the noises was all about and just immediately my gaze met Melvin at the front and flocks of students surrounding him, well female students. I sigh softly and was about looking away when I saw him waving.. I looked and his gaze was on me..

He's waving...at me?! My eyes widen when I saw half of the attention he was getting being transferred to me..

Huh? I quickly pushed my gaze forward, put my hoodie cap on and hurried out of the hall to class, forgetting about the locker.
I arrived at the class and Clara wasn't In seat..

Ever since we met she has always been an early bird so..?
Is she skipping school today or what?

I put my bag down and moved to my seat.. Taking a deep sigh over again.
**Melvin's POV**
School turned out to be pretty great that day and yeah the lots of attention were making me feel more human. Belle was actually the one that styled me this way.
I watched the board as the teacher taught, it looked strange because I couldn't understand but soon after he began explaining, I started grabbing the whole thing..
He asked a question and I was the only one that made an attempt to answer, I answered and got it right and I was applauded, even more than I had expected with all the flirty smiles from the girls..

Wow.. So this is what high school feels like?

After more teachings and talks we were finally allowed to go for break, I had so many invites but I turned them down with excuses.

After the class was empty, I head to the cafeteria and almost immediately found Kayla at the farther, she had her hoodie cap on..obviously trying to hide from me.

I still wonder why Belle didn't make us stay in the same class cos it'd have been easier for me to talk to her that way.

She was reading and a pack of crackers was beside her book.. I reached her and noticed Clara wasn't with her.
"Eating alone?" I asked, pulling into a seat beside her and immediately her gaze came to me, she quickly looks around and rests her gaze back on me.

"What're you doing?"

"Keeping you company. It's kind of tiring sitting and getting those looks from girls everywhere" I said and she rolled her eyes.

"Are you complaining now? What were you expecting with that look?"

"I'm not. I'm just so hungry" I pout, holding my stomach..

I should tease her a little.

"Well you're in a cafeteria, go get some food and leave" she said.

"No.. The food here are totally not my kind of foods.. They're strange and tasteless" I said, well with a bit of truth tho.

"Oh really.. So what exactly are your kind of food?" She asked.

"Blood..lots of them" I said and her once curious look got replaced with a shocked frown.. I laughed inwardly..

She looked cute on that face tho and..funny. I laughed out.
