Happy International Day of the Girl Child. Today, as the world turns its attention to the dreams, struggles, and rights of girls everywhere, we reflect on “In Her Shoes”, a story born from the desire to see girls like Halima free to choose who they become.
Recent stories of child marriage remind us that too many girls are still forced to trade their childhood for survival. “In Her Shoes” stands as a quiet protest against this. It is a call to see, to listen, and to act.
Winning at the Power24 International Film Festival affirmed that Halima’s story resonates beyond borders. It is the story of every girl who dares to dream beyond the limits the world has drawn for her.
To every girl child, may you never lose the light within you. And if you must fight to be who you’re meant to be, may the world rise in your favor, and may you win. To the women and girls who poured their hearts into bringing “In Her Shoes” to life, you are the heartbeat of this story, and its light.
