Oxidative stress is a condition in which an imbalance exists between oxidant and antioxidant levels in such a way that oxidant production over- whelms antioxidant defenses, often leading to oxidation of lipids, proteins, DNA, and other molecules in ways that impair cellular functions.

The City That Forgot to Rest
Imagine your body as a busy city. The power plants (your cells) work all day, producing energy to keep everything running. But just like power plants release smoke, your cells release oxidants—tiny sparks that can damage roads, buildings, and even the city’s blueprint.
Thankfully, the city has firefighters—antioxidants—who quickly put out the sparks and keep things safe.
But what if the city never rested?
The power plants run nonstop, the sparks keep flying, and eventually, the firefighters get tired. Soon, the roads crack, buildings weaken, and the city struggles to function.
That’s what happens inside you when oxidative stress builds up. Without rest, your body can’t balance oxidants and antioxidants. Cells get damaged, and health begins to break down.
