Refutation of the Tijāniyyah Belief About the White Cloth and “Presence” of the Prophet ﷺ
Among some followers of the Tijaniyyah, a white cloth is spread during wazīfah with the belief that the Prophet ﷺ comes to attend the gathering or that a place is prepared for him. This belief is not only baseless—it is a clear religious innovation.
Allah has already made the matter clear:
“Indeed, you will die, and indeed they will die.”
(Qur’an 39:30)
The Prophet ﷺ has passed away from this worldly life. He is in the Barzakh and does not move around attending gatherings. To claim otherwise is to speak about the unseen without knowledge.
The Prophet ﷺ himself clarified how our connection to him works:
Send blessings upon me, for your blessings are conveyed to me.”
Sunan Abu Dawud
And Allah has angels who travel the earth conveying to me the salām of my Ummah.”
Sunan an-Nasa'i
If he were truly حاضر (present) in gatherings, why would angels need to convey the salām? This clearly proves he is not physically attending people’s gatherings.
As for spreading a white cloth for him:
There is no verse in the Qur’an
No authentic hadith
No report from the Sahabah
The companions loved the Prophet ﷺ more than anyone, yet they never left a space for him, never spread a cloth, and never claimed he attends their gatherings. If this were خير (good), they would have done it first.
This practice is therefore not just a small mistake it is an invented act of worship. And the Prophet ﷺ warned us clearly:
Do not exaggerate about me as the Christians exaggerated about Jesus Christ…”
Preparing a seat for the Prophet ﷺ or believing he comes to sit in gatherings is exaggeration (ghulūw) and a dangerous deviation.
Oh you Muslims be wise see what they are packaging for you, and telling you to leave your religion and be doing

A brother shared this story:
After the Isha prayer, we held the funeral prayer for a 60-year-old Indian man. Only three men from his own country attended, but the mosque was filled with Saudis who had heard the announcement and came to pray.
When the procession left the mosque, the crowd followed. From that point, it was the Saudis who handled every step of the burial: they placed the man in the car, took him out at the cemetery, carried him to the grave, and lowered him in. They were the ones who carried and set the burial stones, prepared the mud bricks, sealed the grave, and poured the soil... assisted by one Egyptian man who was standing at the grave's edge.
I am certain, though I cannot swear upon the unseen, that 90% of the people there did not know the man, or how or when he died. They came only because they heard a fellow Muslim had passed away in their midst, and they were there to fulfill his right upon them.
The three men from his homeland. They stood watching, photographing the crowd and the grave. I believe they were documenting the burial to send to his family back home, reassuring them that he had been properly laid to rest.
After the burial, the people gathered around the grave, praying for him in a profound and moving silence. Their hearts seemed to say, "We entrust you to Allah, our brother in Islam."
The sorrow of this man's lonely death, so far from his family, was met by the powerful sight of the Islamic bond. It is a bond that refuses to let a believer be left alone in any place where another believer exists.
By Allah, I am overcome with joy for this faith—for its profound bond, its brotherhood, and its teachings. I ask Allah, who blessed us with Islam without us even asking, to keep us steadfast upon it until we meet Him.

Qur’an & Sunnah Defend the Companions — Beware of Cursing Them or Befriending Those Who Do
📖 From the Qur’an:
Allah says about the Sahabah:
> "And those who came after them say, 'Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith, and do not place in our hearts any hatred toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.'"
(Surah Al-Hashr, 59:10)
> "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those with him are harsh against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves… Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him."
(Surah Al-Fath, 48:29)
📌 Allah commands love and dua for the companions — not abuse or hatred.
---
📜 From the Sunnah:
The Prophet ﷺ warned:
> "Do not abuse my Companions. For if one of you were to spend gold equal to Mount Uhud, it would not equal a handful they spent, nor even half of it."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
> "Fear Allah regarding my Companions. Do not take them as a target after me. Whoever loves them, loves them because of loving me, and whoever hates them, hates them because of hating me."
(Sunan al-Tirmidhi – Hasan)
---
⚠️ Serious Warning:
Abdullah ibn Abbas (RA) said: "Do not sit with those who curse the companions of Muhammad ﷺ, for it will cause your heart to become diseased."
Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal said: "Whoever curses the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we fear for him disbelief."
Imam Malik said: "Whoever hates the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ has no share in Islam."
📌 Associating with such people spreads their poison and hardens the heart. A Muslim must avoid them and their gatherings entirely.
---
💡 Ahlus-Sunnah honors all the companions, prays for them, and follows Allah’s command to keep the heart pure towards them.
