Celebrating the People Behind Our Journey 💙

Twenty years ago, they took a chance on a bold vision. Today, their dedication, resilience and commitment continue to shape who we are.

We recently celebrated 60 colleagues who joined APM Terminals Apapa in the year our terminal commenced operations. Their contributions have been instrumental in transforming Apapa from a largely manual operation into a modern, technology-enabled gateway connecting Nigeria to global trade.

Reflecting on their remarkable journey, APM Terminals Nigeria Country Manager, Koen De Backker, shared:
"I remember faces and I certainly remember the smiles. And what I do remember is your performance, persistence and resilience."

APM Terminals Apapa Managing Director, Kamal Alhraishat, also paid tribute to the honourees:
"What you see today is the result of your hard work and dedication. Be proud of that. You are the foundation of this company. We invested in systems and infrastructure, but none of it would be possible without our people."

For two decades, these colleagues have helped build more than a terminal. They have built a culture rooted in ownership, teamwork, resilience and continuous improvement, values that remain at the heart of The Apapa Way.

To our 20-year honourees: thank you for your commitment, passion and service. Your legacy continues to inspire us as we shape the future of trade and logistics in Nigeria.

Keeping Trade Moving With 24-hour Barge Operations

Starting October 1, APM Terminals Apapa will launch 24-hour barge operations, enabling the seamless movement of export and import containers around the clock.

The announcement was made by our Head of Commercial, Kayode Olufemi Daniel, during the third edition of our Exporters Forum, themed "Exports – Voice of Customers Forum." The forum brought together exporters, shipping lines, logistics operators, industry stakeholders, and academia to discuss opportunities to strengthen Nigeria's export ecosystem and address key supply chain challenges.

With 24-hour barge operations, customers will have greater flexibility to move export cargo into the terminal, evacuate import containers, and return empty containers at any time. This enhanced service is backed by continued investments in our logistics infrastructure, including the expansion of capacity at our dedicated Finger Jetty.

At APM Terminals Apapa, we remain committed to creating smarter, more reliable supply chain solutions that keep trade moving, support Nigeria's export growth, and deliver greater value to our customers.

Go Green Week 2026: Employees Lead Joint Port Clean-Up Exercise

At APM Terminals Apapa, sustainability is more than a commitment. It is action in progress.

As part of our 2026 Go Green Week celebrations, employees came together for a large-scale clean-up exercise along the common user roads at the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, reinforcing our commitment to creating a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable port environment.

The exercise covered a significant stretch of the port corridor, from the Finger Jetty through the common user road to Eko Support Services, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Roundabout, Adekunle Road, and the APM Terminals Apapa main gate. Together, employees collected and disposed of approximately 57.85 kg of waste, including plastics, nylon packaging, wooden planks, bottles, stones, and other debris, helping to improve the environment for all port users.

Held under the theme “Healthy Ecosystems. Resilient Business.”, the clean-up formed part of a week-long programme that also featured tree-planting activities and an environmental town hall focused on raising awareness of sustainable practices among employees.

These initiatives reflect our ongoing efforts to reduce waste, promote environmental stewardship, and contribute to healthier, more resilient ecosystems within and around Nigeria's premier port.

A huge thank you to our employees and stakeholders who participated and demonstrated that meaningful change happens when we work together. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to building a more sustainable future for our business, our communities, and the environment.

Strengthening Collaboration to Advance Nigeria's Maritime Industry

At APM Terminals Apapa, we recognize that strong partnerships are essential to building a more efficient, competitive, and sustainable maritime sector.

Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome the Director, Western Zone Command of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mrs. Obasanjo Akande Olubusola, and her delegation to our terminal. The team was received by our Terminal Managing Director, Kamal Alhraishat, alongside members of the management team.

The visit provided a valuable platform for constructive dialogue on areas of mutual interest, with discussions centered on strengthening collaboration, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the continued growth of Nigeria's maritime ecosystem.

A key focus of the engagement was the critical role of partnership between regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders in improving service delivery, optimizing port operations, and creating greater value across the maritime value chain. Mrs. Obasanjo highlighted the importance of continued stakeholder alignment and collaboration in driving the competitiveness of Nigeria's maritime industry.

Speaking during the visit, Kamal Alhraishat expressed appreciation to Mrs. Obasanjo and her team, reaffirming APM Terminals Apapa's commitment to working closely with NIMASA and other stakeholders to promote efficient trade facilitation, operational excellence, and sustainable industry development.

As Nigeria's maritime sector continues to evolve, collaboration remains a key driver of innovation, resilience, and long-term growth. Together, we can create a stronger and more efficient port and logistics ecosystem that supports customers, trade, and the nation's economic development.

730 Days LTI-Free: A Milestone Built on Safety, Reliability and Customer Trust!

We are proud to celebrate a significant achievement at APM Terminals Apapa — 730 days (two years) without a Lost Time Injury (LTI).

This milestone, the first of its kind since the commencement of our operations under the Nigerian Ports Authority concession, reflects the unwavering commitment of our employees to safety, the right safety mindset, and a culture where everyone takes responsibility for looking out for one another.

While this achievement is a testament to our strong safety culture, its impact extends beyond our workforce. Safe operations drive reliability, consistency, and efficiency—enabling us to deliver better service to our customers. When our people work safely, our equipment, processes, and operations perform more effectively, helping customers move their cargo with confidence and predictability.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the dedication of our entire workforce, the guidance of our Safety Team, and the leadership of our Management Team, who continue to champion safety at every level of the organization.

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on continuously raising the bar, strengthening our safety culture, and delivering operational excellence that creates value for our customers and stakeholders.

Because safety is not just about preventing incidents—it is the foundation of reliable operations, customer satisfaction, and sustainable business performance.

Congratulations to Team Apapa on this remarkable achievement.
