It's okay to start out as a rookie

Starting out in a new career and business can be dicey at the beginning. Convincing your boss that you can get the job done or canvassing for customers seems like a tall order at the early stages.

Whichever the case we share a few things that are important when moving from rookie to expert:

1.Your word is your bond : be sure you can do what you've promised to do and more. At this early stage you're building trust capital, you don't want to crush yours early.

2. Never stop learning : if all you know is all there is to know then you possibly know nothing. Continuous personal and professional development is very important.

3.Take action: put whatever you've learnt to practice. Test your hypothesis, validate theories, remodel your framework; this way you're building your experience. After all being an expert means a high level of experience.

1. Discover What You Love Career Assessment and Planning Workbook for Teens was launched.

2. In collaboration with Project Aspire we administered career assessment, counselled and mentored young boys at the Lagos Correctional Home for boys Oregun Ikeja.
