The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says no tariff increase has been approved by the commission yet contrary to the impression in some quarters.

In a statement, Usman Arabi, NERC’s General Manager, Public Affairs said it was still consulting with stakeholders, stating that the commission wished to provide guidance that the minor review implemented by the commission was a retrospective adjustment of the tariff regime released in 2015.

Arabi said that this was to account for changes in macroeconomic indices for 2016, 2017 and 2018, “thus providing certainty about revenue shortfall that may have arisen due to the differential between tariffs approved by the regulator and actual end-user tariffs,”

Oil Pipeline Vandalism in Nigeria Soars 77%

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said that it had seen a 77-percent jump in the number of cases of oil and fuel pipeline vandalism on its pipeline infrastructure in June.

NNPC is trying to clamp down on vandalism and has teamed up with a state security company to improve the safety of oil pipelines and to stand up against pipeline vandalism and oil theft, which have plagued the local oil industry for decades.
Leaks in pipelines crisscrossing the Niger Delta are often caused by oil theft, and field operators have frequently declared force majeure on exports of key Nigerian crude grades.

This has hurt exports and oil revenues, which has been particularly hard on the Nigerian budget during the latest price crisis.

They do this through taking on the Niger Delta basin and the Benue Trough which has enough capacity to support the country's oil industry for decades to come.

The Aiteo brand is known to have a resilient get-it-done spirit, as in their words – ‘’we are not afraid to take on these challenges, both for economic success and for the good of the global community.

Oil is a finite natural resource and we must ensure that we retrieve as much of it as possible from the fields that are tapped, refine it as efficiently as possible into fuels and derivatives, and use it wisely in end-user markets, with pricing that reflects its rare value and the innovation that went into its release from its reservoir below the ground.’’

Not surprisingly, over the years, the Aiteo Group has been recognized on several occasions for their outstanding contribution to the energy industry.

This includes the 2018 Award for indigenous oil and Gas Company of the Year at the Nigerian Oil and Gas NOG conference which draws more than 100 industry professionals gathered from both the public and private sectors.

Can we Talk about Energy Hazards? – NIGER DELTA

The Niger delta is one of the most polluted regions in the world. Oil is spilled more each year than in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.

Nigerian government reports more than 7,000 spills between 1970 and 2000 and 2,000 major spillage sites.
Pollution and environmental damage of the oil industry has serious impact on people living in the Niger Delta.

The environment laws are poorly enforced. Government agencies responsible for enforcement were ineffective and, in some cases, compromised by conflicts of interest.
