Hope For Life Initiative

Every year on 5 September, the world marks the International Day of Charity—a day established by the United Nations to encourage people, organisations and stakeholders around the world to support others through volunteerism, philanthropy and acts of kindness.

The date also commemorates the passing of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, whose life was dedicated to serving people living in poverty and distress. Her legacy reminds us that charity is not only about giving material things; it is about seeing people, responding to their needs and restoring hope and dignity.

These values are at the heart of Hope for Life Initiative (HFLI).

At Hope for Life Initiative, we believe that every person deserves an opportunity to live with dignity, discover their potential and build a better future. Through our work with disadvantaged children and widows, we seek to turn compassion into practical action through education, empowerment, mentorship, climate action and community support.

For us, charity is not simply about giving. It is about creating opportunities, restoring hope and empowering people to fulfil their potential.

From providing educational support to children, empowering widows with skills and opportunities, supporting communities through environmental initiatives, to mobilising volunteers and partners to respond to social needs, our work is rooted in the belief that small acts of service can create meaningful and lasting change.

As we mark the International Day of Charity, we are reminded that each of us has something to give—our time, skills, resources, voice or simply our willingness to serve.
