Parenting resource and community for mums, dads, parents, and caregivers. It takes an e-village!

Lagos Mums is an online community where mums can meet; ask questions; give advice; a place where they can dialogue. Bonds can be made, find that shopping deal, find that store with that LBD, discuss nanny issues, talk about schools, discover events around the city and talk about finances and career…The Lagos Mum today is an internet warrior, bb toting, laptop carrying; and that led to the birth of Lagos Mums, an online community as the destination for information and answers on the go.

Meet Mrs. Yemisi Ogunlade, our Mum of the Month for June🩵, who wears many hats🎩 with purpose and grace.

She is an Education and Business Management Consultant, and the Principal Consultant at Plumptre Advisory, where she helps families make informed educational choices for international study👩🏽‍🎓🌎.

Beyond the boardroom, she is a wife and mum of two, an active mentor, a British Council Certified Counsellor and currently serves as the Chair of the Education & Schools Group of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce.

She tells us every hat she wears is connected by a central thread: she’s passionate about helping people grow into who they are meant to become, what she like to call "the intersection of people, purpose and possibility"🤝🏽.

In the midst of all of this, she calls motherhood “one of the most defining journeys of her life.”

From beginning motherhood without the traditional support of an ‘omugwo’ experience, to raising confident, grounded children in an ever-changing world, her journey has been one of resilience, intentionality, and continuous growth😊💪🏽.

In this inspiring conversation, she shares her thoughts on modern parenting, balancing work and family, building a business from the ground up, and the motherhood myth she believes every mum should stop believing.

Tap the link in our bio to read more about her journey, including her love for K-drama and the hilarious way her daughter kept tabs on her in boarding school, and what the Lagosmums community means to her Lagosmums🌸!

Have you asked your child how they are feeling lately?

It is no news that a lot of scary things have become “regular” headlines in this country🙂.

Most recently, we have followed the disheartening news of the capture of schoolchildren right from their classrooms💔.

Fear is spreading, not just among adults but among our children too. Nowadays it’s difficult to keep bad news from them.

As parents, we may not be able to protect them from every difficult story, but we can help them build the emotional tools they need to process what they see, ask questions, and feel anchored.

Swipe through for practical ways to support your child when the news feels overwhelming❤️.

We love how she answers this question about being open about her faith.

When you know who you are you don’t turn it on and off, your faith is a part of you, loving God is not something to hide or reserve for certain stages.

They came into our lives and turned everything upside down, our sleep, our plans, our hearts. But quietly, daily, they are also our greatest teachers. 🙏

This Children’s Day, we’re flipping the script. Save this and share it with a mum who needs to hear it today. 💛

Helping our children navigate an AI-driven world doesn’t require us to have a technical degree. It just requires human connection, curiosity, and intentionality. 🤍✨

By setting clear boundaries, teaching them to think critically like digital detectives, and implementing simple habits like a weekly digital check-in over a family meal, we can empower them to use technology safely and wisely.

Tag a fellow parent who needs a little encouragement navigating the digital age today! 📣

You spend every day teaching your child. But what if they are quietly teaching you something too? 👀

We pour so much of ourselves into raising our children, the school runs, the homework help, the screen time battles, and the bedtime negotiations. But somewhere in between the beautiful chaos of Lagos motherhood, our children are holding up a mirror to us. And what we see might just change everything. 💛

These 7 lessons are things our children teach us every single day — if we are intentional enough to notice.

👇🏾 Read the captions. Take your time with each one. Then share in the comments which one spoke directly to you?

Mummy when I grow up, I’m going to be the president of Nigeria!

“Ehehn, really?” 😆

Every parent knows that children say the most interesting things, unprovoked. And well, it’s our natural instinct to just laugh it off and keep it moving. After all, not every child who says they’re going to be Africa’s richest man/woman will actually become that. Plus, didn’t we all say these things as well?

But amidst all the jokes and laughter, there’s a subtle perception our children develop when they observe how we regard their thoughts, opinions, and behaviour from a young age.

A person’s confidence is very easily influenced by their earliest interactions.

As a parent, you will very likely be their first role model and sounding board.

How are you making sure that your child grows up to see themselves as valued and capable, through the ups and downs of life?

Swipe to find out how to raise a child with a strong sense of self-worth🩵.
