I went to school with a borrowed money for school fees!

My childhood experience remains fresh in my memory.

Those blessed days of how my mum goes to my neighbor, just to borrow money to pay my school fees.

It was so embarrassing!

The level of poverty in my family was so deep that even the poor people referred to us as being poor.

Thank God, I was able to change the narrative in my family by breaking out of poverty.

As my way of giving back to society, I founded the Stephen Akintayo Foundation , an NGO that caters for orphans, the less privileged and widows, as well as mentor young minds.

We are re-launching the Foundation on the 28th of January 2022, which is also my birthday celebration.

This is a ministry God has given me to ensure that children don't go through poverty childhood.

I am inviting you to celebrate this re-launch with me.

I had the opportunity to become a millionaire a long time ago!

Several years ago, while in my 20s, I was offered a deal that would make me a millionaire at that time.

It was a very lucrative business in the media industry, but we had to settle some people in some positions.

They were asking for 2 million Naira for just a signature to be effected to fast track operations.

We were a 3-man team, and I was the leader of this team. I told them that we aren't giving anybody bribe before we start this company.

How could we start a company by giving bribe. A building built on a faulty foundation cannot stand.

Since it required that the 3 of us had to be in agreement before the 2 million Naira was paid, it couldn't work because I refused.

My integrity is key to me, I don't joke with it. We fell out, and till today, they don't speak to me anymore.

If only people can understand their times and seasons, a lot of depression will be reduced.

I realized that all open doors are not God's doors. I didn't know that God was preparing something greater for me through Gtext.

You don't need to cut corners and soil your name just to be rich. A good name is better than riches.

Be diligent and honest in all your dealings. It pays!

If I had given that bribe and cut corners, I wouldn't be at the level I am today, because I would have tampered with my destiny.

Know God's direction for your life and work with it. Don't envy anybody. Not all open doors you get are God's doors.

I believe that life itself is a gift, and we spend this gift by giving gifts.

Everyday we give out something; time, service, encouragement, smile, laughter, hope, words, help, money, food, love, carbon-dioxide etc.

No matter how little it is, we give something.

The thing is, the more you give the more you grow. If you stop giving your growth becomes stunted.

So since life is a gift, we have to keep on giving.

I have made this a principle of my life and that's why I keep expanding.

Nobody meets me and remains the same, because I'll deposit a value that can't be exhausted in a while.

I want to raise people like me and replicate myself in as many people as possible, that's why I do what I am doing.

I have passion for the youths, that's why I love working with them.

In fact, I have a show that's coming out very soon which will attract the interest of the youths worldwide, and it's called "Big Talk with DSA". Watch this space for more details.

To continue giving gifts everyday without getting exhausted, discover your purpose and live in it.

I knew my purpose on earth right from the age of 17. I knew I couldn't afford to live a wasted life.

Until your life counts for something, you are not living.

If you're not fulfilling your purpose, you're only existing. The day you start fulfilling your purpose is the day you start living.

That's why it's not how far, but how well.

I've received several "No's" in my life!

If I am to count the number of no's I have received, they are enough to keep me at the bottom.

If I had allowed all the no's I've received to weigh me down, I wouldn't have been at this level I am today.

The ability to keep showing up everyday despite my discouragements, has brought me to this level.

This is my biggest secret!

I remembered that year I printed 100 copies of my CV and went from company to company in search of a job.

In a particular company I went to, I wrote a Cover letter that said, "Don't pay me for 6 months till I prove my worth." One of the managers then told me I couldn't be employed because they didn't have enough working space.

That was how desperate I was to make a life for myself. Yet, I wasn't given a chance to prove myself.

Today, it's an honour to see the same people who turned me down celebrate me.

What made the difference? I refused to give up. I didn't give up on myself nor on my abilities.

I knew where I was headed in life. I knew the vision God had given me, so I couldn't be discouraged by a 'No'.

Let me tell you, NO means "Next Opportunity." So if you get a no today, it simply means you should try the next opportunity.

I broke up with poverty for life!

Where I grew up in a remote village in Maiduguri, I had no access to electricity, running water, and a good toilet.

It was a true definition of poverty!

At that level of poverty in my background, it was difficult to attract great friends by default.

Despite the depth of poverty, I was able to break out and change the story of my lineage.

In retrospect, I formed relationships with billionaires, even though I wasn't close to being a thousandaire. I had to intentionally work on those relationships because I knew they would bring me the money I desired.

In building wealth, social capital comes first before financial capital. That's what successful people did to get to where they are.

The company you keep determines what accompanies you.

The connections you have determine your collection.

Who you follow determines what follows you.

Your network determines your net worth.

I choose my friends strategically because I am building a circle of wealthy people.

I want you to use it too and improve the quality of your life.

I once envisioned to be in the circle of those in my network many years ago, and I am glad that it came through sooner than I thought, because I've worked on my relationships.
