MY TRIP TO IYAKE NATURAL SUSPENDED LAKE, ADO-AWAYE ON 21ST NOVEMBER 2025

Iyake Lake is a suspended lake located in Ado Awaye, Oyo State, Nigeria. It is the only natural suspended lake in the world, situated atop a mountain and surrounded by numerous myths and legends. Locals believe it to be bottomless and spiritually powerful, with stories linking it to a goddess of fertility and a woman who committed su***de by falling into it.

I was also oppurtuned to meet with the paramount ruler of ado awaye, The Alado of Ado-Awaye, Oba (Rev.) Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi.

As nature would also have it, I met with fellow tourism practitioners Ogbeni Jide Fajuyi of .oodua_magazine and Morenikeji Aradamilola the CEO of . we had a very good discussion on how the youths should work tirelessly to push Nigerian tourism sector forward. The bottom line is we need to collaborate.
