Rebel With a Cause ⇨2
The lunch hour flew by in a flurry of laughter and banter, but as Harper headed to her next class, her thoughts kept drifting back to Jake. She shook her head, trying to focus on her history assignment. But her concentration was shot when she heard a soft tap on her shoulder. She looked up, and there he was, Jake, standing over her, his blue eyes sparkling. “Hey, Harper. What are you up to after school?" he asked, a hint of nerves in his voice. Harper’s heart pounded in her chest. “N-nothing. Just...
"...hangin’ out, I guess. Why do you ask?" Harper replied, trying to sound casual. Jake hesitated, then said, "I was thinking maybe we could grab a coffee or something. I mean, if you're not busy." Harper's pulse quickened. Was he actually asking her out? She took a deep breath, fighting the urge to squeal like a fangirl. "Sure, I'd like that," she said, trying to play it cool. Jake grinned, looking relieved. "Cool, cool..After school, Harper met Jake at the local coffee shop, her hands sweaty and her stomach full of butterflies. They chatted over lattes, and Harper found herself surprised at how easy the conversation flowed. Jake was funny, thoughtful, and seemed genuinely interested in her. As they walked out of the shop together, a warm breeze rustled the trees overhead. And as they reached the corner, Jake reached out and took her hand. Harper felt a tingle run up her arm, and a goofy smile spread across her face. This was definitely turning into something more than just a casual hangout.
The next few weeks flew by in a haze of stolen glances, lingering touches, and late-night texts. Harper found herself falling hard for Jake, and she could tell he was into her too. But there was one small problem: his ex-girlfriend. She was the queen bee of the school, the cheer captain, the girl everyone wanted to be or date. And she was not happy about Jake moving on. Harper could sense the tension brewing, and she knew it was only a matter of time before
Rebel With a Cause ⇨ Part 1
Harper stared at the school building, a sense of dread washing over her as she approached. The fluorescent lights cast a harsh glare on the scuffed floors and graffiti-covered lockers. She clutched her backpack tightly, her black nail polish and Doc Martens clashing with the preppy polo shirts and pastel skirts of her classmates. She took a deep breath, squared her shoulders, and marched into the chaos of the crowded hallways, determined to make it through the day without getting sucked into the social politics of high school...
As Harper made her way to her locker, she heard whispers and giggles from the popular kids, who whispered things like, "There she is, the resident artist," and "I hear she paints in her garage and listens to indie rock." Harper rolled her eyes and shoved her backpack into her locker. She spotted her best friend, Miles, across the hall, sporting his usual beanie and headphones. She flashed him a quick grin before heading to class, determined to stay true to herself, no matter what the high school hierarchy had to say about it...
The day progressed in a blur of algebra equations and history lectures. But then, as Harper walked to lunch, she spotted the football captain, Jake, chatting with his buddies in the quad. Harper's stomach did a little flip. She'd been crushing on Jake since freshman year, but he was a social butterfly, while she was more of a lone wolf. She kept her distance, not wanting to draw attention to herself. But as she passed by, Jake's gaze met hers for a split second, and she swore she saw a flicker of interest in his eyes...
The Haunted House on Elm Street
As the door slammed shut behind me, I was plunged into total darkness. I strained my ears for any sounds, but all I could hear was the pounding of my own heart. The air was thick with dust and the musty scent of decay. I took a hesitant step forward, my feet creaking on the rotting wood floor. Suddenly, I heard a noise - a soft, rustling sound, like something moving in the shadows. I froze, my breath catching in my throat. Was I alone in this house... or was there something lurking in the darkness?🤭
I inched forward, my eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of movement. The rustling sound grew louder, coming from the room on my left. I hesitated, not sure if I should investigate or make a run for it. But my curiosity got the better of me and I crept towards the room. As I approached the doorway, a cold breeze wafted towards me, smelling of damp earth and decay. I took a deep breath and peered inside...
My heart pounded in my chest as I stepped into the room, my eyes adjusting to the dim light. I could see shapes moving in the shadows, but I couldn't make out what they were. Suddenly, a voice whispered in my ear, "You shouldn't be here..." I whipped around, but there was no one there. A chill ran down my spine. I had to get out of here, fast.
You want more? Alright, prepare yourself...
As I turned to leave, I heard a low, guttural moan from the corner of the room. I froze, every muscle in my body tensing. Then, from the shadows, a figure emerged. It was tall, hulking, and cloaked in a tattered black robe. It took a step towards me, its eyes glowing red in the darkness. I let out a scream and started running, but the figure was fast, too fast. It was gaining on me, its moans turning to cackles of delight...
