Goodbye, Ugly Scrollbars! Here’s How to Hide Them
Give Me 2 Minutes and Make Scrollbars Disappear Like Magic

This Tiny Detail Could Set Your Website Apart

A scrollbar shows on a page whenever there is an overflow happening. It lets the user know that a particular page can be scrolled horizontally or vertically.

Some issues developers come across when dealing with scrollbars include not putting accessibility in mind and not testing them across multiple browsers.

Knowing how to style, display, or hide scrollbars would make you stand out because, instead of the browser’s default styling, you can give your desired style that fits your brand.

To show the scrollbar, your page needs to overflow. By default, the overflow is visible, so only when your content can’t contain the page then the scrollbar would show up, or you can set it to show by default by setting overflow: scroll.
Knowing now that you are not just limited to the default style that allows all browsers to give their preferred style to the scrollbar, instead, you can give something unique that would be the same for all browsers.

Styling the scrollbar and making it unique.

Neat Pages Start Here: Mastering Hidden Scrollbars

Hiding the visibility of your scrollbar is different from making overflow hidden. If your scrollbar is hidden, your page won’t be able to scroll because you have given overflow: hidden to your page.

Hiding scrollbars should be based on the design, user experience, and some other factors. Note: also take care of accessibility issues for people that need accessibility features, like screen readers and so on.

A scrollbar, if not handled well, can prevent your design from being neat. There might be some areas on your page where you want the content to scroll but also avoid the scrollbar — this is when hiding the scrollbar comes in handy.

Hiding Scrollbars in CSS:
It works by giving your div, table, or any tag you want to apply the overflow to, a class name of your choice. In this case, I would use scrollbar-hide.

index.html

Index.css
scrollbar-hide::-webkit-scrollbar {

display: none;

}
scrollbar-hide {

-ms-overflow-style: none;

scrollbar-width: none;

}

Note:
The ::-webkit-scrollbar is a CSS pseudo-element that allows you to customize the appearance of scrollbars in browsers that use the WebKit rendering engine (e.g., Chrome, Safari, and newer versions of Edge).

The -ms-overflow-style is a CSS property specific to Internet Explorer (IE) and Edge (prior to version 79, which switched to the Chromium engine). It controls the appearance of the scrollbars in a web page or element.

Now you can go ahead improving your styling — not just letting scrollbars affect your design. You now have the power to disable or hide your scrollbar.

A scrollbar, which is caused by page overflow, can also affect the layout, style, or design of a page. Understanding how it works and how to go about it gives you so much flexibility to tweak it to your desired output.

This is the story of Fred, a young, gentle and hardworking guy living with his parents. Fred had big dreams of becoming a software developer, but money was tight at home, and he couldn't afford to stay in school.

Instead, Fred had to help out his parents with their small business. It wasn't easy, especially when some kids made fun of him for not having much money. But Fred didn't let that get him down. He loved computers and writing, so he found joy in helping his parents keep track of their sales.

To chase his dream, Fred started going to a computer cafe far from home. The journey was tough, but he was determined. At the cafe, he struggled at first, but with practice, he got better. He spent hours learning online, soaking up all the knowledge he could.

After months of hard work, Fred created a software program to help his parents manage their business. It was a game-changer! With his success, Fred decided to help other local businesses too. His writing skills helped him convince clients, and soon, he was on his way to success.

With each step forward, Fred got closer to buying his own computer and lifting his family out of poverty. His story shows that no matter what challenges you face, if you stay determined and passionate, you can make your dreams come true.

Artificial intelligence is an incredibly powerful tool.

AI technology has been able to achieve some feats like acing the SAT, defeating a chess grandmaster and debugging code like it is nothing.

AI has now grown to the use of multimodal(ability to use and work with more than just text) like transcribing speech, captioning images and video, generating artwork and so on.

But with all it feature it seems AI lack common sense, because we have seen instance of AI giving deepfakes and hallucination.
For instance, take the prompt in the picture as a sample.
I asked chatGPT - I have a 12 liter jug and a six liter jug, how do I fill a six liter jug, instead of just giving me a straight answer(use the six liter jug),it goes through a complex process.

So What do we say about AI passing exam and randomly failing basic common sense?
What are your thoughts on this?

François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume “Voltaire”, was an 18th century French Enlightenment writer, historian and philosopher, famous for his wit and his advocacy of freedom of speech. One of his most popular quotes is the beautifully simple: “Common sense is not so common.”

AI still not there

There has been recent development in the field of Artificial intelligence with various companies like OpenAI(ChatGPT), Anthropic(Claude), Goggle(Gemini) and some other copilot tools.

These AI tools help to detect flaws in products, summarize text, assist developers with auto completion and generate useful code snippets . Web creation has been made easy with AI tools . It can also assist content creators to generate scripts . It is also useful for image generation and so on.

Although there had been some issues with some chatbot like hallucination(giving misinformation or content not relevant to the conversation),chatbot not able to read text, some image generate by AI tools when checked professionally has some issues or fault.

But with all these feature is AI there yet?Artificial General Intelligence(AGI), also referred to as strong AI or human AI, has shown a glimpse of what AI has to offer; the ability to perform a broad spectrum of cognitive tasks at or above human level.
