CHAPTER SEVENTY TWO
LEENA
The whistle had barely finished sounding when one of the girls rushed at me immediately like she wanted to end everything quickly. She didnât even hesitate as she raised her hand to hit me but my body moved before I could even think. I stepped aside quickly and her hand missed me completely. She looked surprised but didnât stop, she turned and came at me again. This time I was ready.
I blocked her hand and pushed her back but she grabbed my arm and tried to drag me down with her. We both struggled for a moment, our hands gripping each other tightly, our feet sliding against the ground. It was rough and messy, not like a proper fight, just survival.
She tried to hit my face but I ducked and pushed her hard in the chest. She stumbled back but came again, more angry this time. My heart was beating fast but my body didnât feel weak. I could feel my wolf moving inside me again.
âDonât hold back,â she growled and I didnât.
When the girl rushed again, I grabbed her arm and pulled her forward, then I hit her hard. She didnât expect it. Her body lost balance immediately and she fell to the ground with a loud thud. She tried to stand but she couldnât. She stayed there, holding her side.
Silence followed. Everyone watching went quiet again.
I stood there breathing heavily, staring at her. One of them was already down.
The remaining three girls looked at each other. I saw it clearly in their eyes, they were no longer confident. Then suddenly, they rushed at me together.
I didnât even have time to react properly before one grabbed my arm, another pushed me from behind and the third tried to hit me. I struggled immediately. They were too many.
One of them pulled my hair and I cried out, losing my balance as I fell to my knees. Another one slapped me hard and I felt my head spin for a moment.
âHold her!â one of them shouted. They didnât stop.
They kept hitting and pushing me like they wanted to finish me quickly. I tried to fight back but it was hard. My body started feeling weak again and my breathing became rough.
âStand up.â My wolf growled loudly and something changed again.
I suddenly pushed one of them off me and stood up quickly. My movements became faster and stronger. Before they could react, I grabbed one of them and threw her aside. She hit the ground hard.
The second one rushed at me but I kicked her hard and she fell back.
The third one froze for a second, fear clearly showing in her eyes.
I moved toward her slowly but before I could reach her, a voice suddenly stopped everything.
âEnough.â We all froze.
The Beta stepped forward slowly, his eyes fixed on me. The guards immediately moved but he raised his hand slightly, stopping them.
His gaze didnât leave me.
He looked at me strangely, like he was trying to understand something.
The ground was quiet. No one spoke.
Then he smirked slightly.
âInteresting,â he said.
Without saying anything else, he turned and walked away.
I could see the other maid looking so afraid as the soldiers approached them. I felt so much pity for them. They were dragged away while they cried and I wondered what would be their fate.
ALPHA DAMIAN POV
The council hall was already filled when I walked in. The elders were seated, their faces serious as they waited.
Samara was there too. She sat calmly like nothing was wrong but I noticed the slight stiffness in her posture. The moment our eyes met, she smiled faintly but I didnât return it. I took my seat and gave a simple nod.
âBring her in,â I said.
The door opened and Freya was dragged inside. She looked nothing like before. Her face was pale, her body weak and there were bruises on her arms and neck. She could barely stand properly. The moment she entered, I saw Samaraâs brows raise slightly but I also noticed the nervousness in her eyes.
Freya was pushed forward and made to stand in the middle.
I looked at her for a moment before speaking.
âTell them what really happened,â I said.
She hesitated and looked around nervously. No one spoke. The elders were all watching her closely.
âI⊠I already said everything before,â she muttered weakly. My jaw tightened.
âSay the truth,â I said again, my voice lowered this time.
She flinched slightly. Her eyes moved toward Samara for a second before quickly looking away. That alone told me everything.
âSpeak,â I said. Her lips trembled and tears filled her eyes.
âI lied,â she said finally. Murmurs filled the hall immediately.
âIt was not Leena,â she continued, her voice shaking.
âShe didnât push Lady Samara. She didnât do anything.â She added. The room became quiet again. I didnât take my eyes off her.
âWho told you to lie?â I asked. She broke down immediately.
âLady Samara,â she said. Everything went still.
âShe told me to say it. She said I should blame Leena. I was scared so I did it,â she added quickly.
All eyes turned to Samara and she stood up immediately.
âThat is a lie,â she said sharply.
âShe is trying to save herself. Why would I do such a thing?â she added, trying to sound calm. I didnât even look at her.
âEnough,â I said coldly. She went silent immediately. I stood up slowly, my gaze moving around the hall.
âYou all heard her,â I said. No one argued.
âLeena is innocent,â I added. There was no doubt in my voice. I turned slightly.
âI will be going to the outpost tomorrow to bring her back,â I said. Some of the elders shifted but no one spoke.
âAnd from now on, no one will dare touch her or accuse her without proof again,â I continued and silence followed.
I didnât wait for any response. I turned and walked out of the hall.
Behind me, I heard hurried footsteps.
âDamian,â Samara called.
I stopped but didnât turn immediately. She came closer, her voice filled with anger.
âYou canât keep treating me like this. I am your mate,â she said. I finally turned to look at her. For a moment, I said nothing.
âI donât feel anything,â I said simply.
Her expression changed.
âThere is no bond. I donât feel you at all,â I continued. Her eyes widened slightly.
âI donât want you,â I added before turning away again. I didnât wait for her response. I walked away without looking back.
She remained there, her fist clenched tightly as I left.
LEENA POV
It was already late and the room had gone quiet. Most of the girls were lying down on their mats, their bodies too tired to even move. I was about to lie down too when the door suddenly slammed open loudly. I flinched immediately and turned toward the door.
A guard walked in, his face serious as his eyes landed on me.
âYou,â he said, pointing at me. âThe Beta wants you.â
My heart skipped.
I slowly stood up, my body tense as I stepped forward. No one said anything as I followed him out of the room. I could feel their eyes on my back but I didnât turn.
We walked through the dark path until we got to a bigger building. The guard pushed the door open and gestured for me to go in.
I stepped inside slowly. My eyes widened slightly.
There was a table in the middle of the room filled with food. Different kinds of food I hadnât seen since I got here. It looked too good for a place like this.
The Beta was already there. He sat comfortably, leaning back with a wide grin on his face as he looked at me.
âCome,â he said. I hesitated for a moment before walking closer.
âSit,â he added. I slowly sat down, still confused.
âEat,â he said, nodding toward the food.
I looked at the food again, then back at him. I didnât trust this. But I was hungry.
Slowly, I picked up one of the plates and started eating. The food tasted good but I couldnât even enjoy it properly because of the way he was staring at me.
His eyes didnât leave me at all. It made me uncomfortable.
âYou are pretty,â he said suddenly but I paused but didnât respond.
âAnd strong too,â he added, still smiling. I kept eating quietly, not knowing what to say.
âI like that,â he continued. I finally looked up at him.
âWhat do you mean?â I asked.
His smile widened slightly.
âI can make you powerful here,â he said calmly and I frowned.
âNo one will touch you. No one will disrespect you. You will live better than the others,â he added. My grip on the spoon tightened slightly.
âI don't understand, why will you do that?â I asked again.
He leaned forward slightly like he was about to explain.
But before he could say anything, the door suddenly burst open.
A guard ran in, breathing heavily, his face filled with fear.
âThey are here!â he said quickly.
The Beta stood up immediately, his expression changing.
âWho?â he asked.
âThem⊠they are at the entrance,â the guard replied.
Without wasting time, the Beta rushed out with him.
I stood up quickly, my heart beating fast. I didnât understand what was going on but I could already hear loud noises from outside.
Heavy footsteps and deep sounds. It didnât sound normal.
I slowly moved toward the door and stepped outside.
The moment I looked ahead, my eyes widened in shock.
Huge creatures were walking into the outpost.
They were massive, bigger than any man I had ever seen. Their bodies looked rough and terrifying, their movements heavy as the ground seemed to shake under their steps.
Some of the soldiers were already stepping back.
Others were preparing to fight.
My heart started beating wildly in my chest as I stared at them.
What⊠are those things?
CHAPTER SEVENTY THREE
The moment those creatures stepped fully into the outpost, everything turned into chaos immediately. The ground felt like it was shaking as they moved forward and the loud sound they were making filled the whole place. The soldiers that were standing at the entrance rushed forward with their weapons but not all of them looked ready. Some hesitated and some even stepped back in fear.
The slaves started running in different directions, some screaming, some falling as they tried to escape. The place that was already rough suddenly became worse. I stood there for a moment, my body frozen because I didnât even understand what I was looking at. I have never seen anything like this before and my heart started beating so fast.
âMove,â my wolf growled loudly in my head but I still couldnât react immediately.
One of the creatures suddenly turned toward my direction and started walking closer. Its eyes were dark and its body looked terrifying. My breath got stuck and I took a step back slowly. It moved faster than I expected and stretched its hand toward me.
That was when my body finally reacted.
I moved quickly to the side and its hand missed me by just a little. I stumbled but didnât fall. My heart was pounding hard as I tried to steady myself. Around me, soldiers were fighting, some were shouting orders, some were already on the ground not moving.
I didnât even have time to think properly before another creature attacked close to where I was standing. A soldier tried to fight it but he was thrown aside like he was nothing. His weapon fell to the ground near me.
I stared at it for a second.
âI donât want to fight,â I said in my head but my wolf didnât listen.
âPick it,â she growled.
My hand moved on its own and I grabbed the weapon. It felt heavy but not impossible. The creature turned toward me again and this time I didnât run.
I stepped forward and attacked.
My movements felt faster than before. I didnât even understand how I was doing it but my body was reacting on its own. I hit the creature and it staggered back slightly. It didnât fall but I could see that I hurt it.
That alone shocked me.
Around me, some soldiers paused for a second as they looked at me. I could feel their eyes but I didnât stop. I held the weapon tighter, my breathing heavy as I stayed ready.
Not far from there, the Beta was fighting too but his attention shifted. I saw him looking at me for a moment, his eyes narrowing slightly like he was trying to understand something. He didnât say anything but I could tell he noticed.
The fight continued for a while.
Some of the creatures were killed but not easily. Some of them pulled back slowly like they were not planning to stay long. The soldiers were injured, some badly and the ground was already stained.
When everything finally started to calm down, the outpost looked worse than before.
Bodies were on the ground, some moving, some not. The slaves that survived were gathered together, their faces filled with fear. No one spoke loudly anymore.
I stood there holding the weapon, my chest rising and falling as I looked around.
This place was already dangerous before.
But now⊠it felt like something worse had just begun.
ALPHA DAMIAN POV
I didnât waste any time after council because the next morning. My mind was already made up and nothing was going to stop me from going to the outpost to bring her back. I walked straight toward the carriage, my steps fast and my jaw clenched tightly.
âDamianâŠâ
I stopped when I felt a hand grab my clothes from behind. I turned and saw Samara. Her eyes were already filled with tears as she held onto me tightly like she was afraid I would disappear.
âPlease donât go,â she said, her voice shaking. âDonât leave me like this⊠I am your mate.â
Her words didnât move me the way they used to. Instead, something about it felt wrong. I looked at her hand on my clothes before slowly removing it.
âYou should rest,â I said coldly.
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
âDamian, how can you say that? After everything⊠after what happened to our baby?â she asked, her voice breaking. I didnât respond. I just stepped back.
âI said go inside,â I repeated and pushed her hand away completely.
She stumbled slightly but didnât fall. She just stood there staring at me like she didnât recognize me anymore. I didnât wait. I turned and entered the carriage immediately.
âMove,â I ordered.
The guards didnât hesitate. The carriage started moving and the palace slowly disappeared behind me.
At first, everything was quiet but after some time, my chest started feeling tight. My heart began beating louder than normal like something was wrong. I frowned slightly, placing my hand on my chest as I tried to understand what was happening.
It didnât feel like fear. It felt like something pulling me.
My brows furrowed as flashes suddenly started appearing in my head. Memories⊠ones I couldnât remember before. Leena⊠her face, her voice, the way she looked at me.
My breath got stuck.
More memories followed. Moments I had forgotten completely. The way I felt around her, the bond, the connection⊠everything came rushing back all at once.
I sat up straight, my eyes widening slightly.
âSheâŠâ I muttered under my breath.
Leena is my mate.
The realization hit me hard and my grip tightened immediately. I had been calling Samara my mate all this time while my real mate was suffering.
I felt a sharp pain in my chest. How did I forget something like that? I clenched my fist tightly, anger building inside me but this time it was directed at myself. I have been blind this whole time.
âFaster,â I said suddenly.
The guard in front looked back slightly.
âMy Alpha?â
âMove quickly,â I repeated, my voice firm.
The carriage picked up speed immediately. My heart was still beating fast but this time it was different.
I couldnât wait anymore. I need to see her.
LEENA POV
Morning came slowly but the outpost didnât feel calm at all. The place was still messy from what happened last night. Everywhere looked rough and dirty and there were marks on the ground from the fight. Some places were stained and broken like the attack had torn through everything without mercy.
The slaves were already awake and moving around. No one needed to be told what to do. We all started cleaning immediately like it was normal. Some were carrying away the bodies while others were washing the ground and fixing what could be fixed. The soldiers were also moving around, some injured, some still holding their weapons like they were expecting another attack at any moment.
I bent down and started picking things from the ground, my body still feeling sore from yesterday but not as weak as before. My wolf was quiet but not silent. She was watching everything.
âThis is not the first time,â the girl beside me said suddenly.
I turned to look at her.
âThey always come like that,â she continued, her hands still working.
âThe soldiers here⊠their job is to fight them and stop them from entering the pack. If they pass here, they will go straight to the villages and kill people.â
My hands slowed down as I listened to her.
âThey die here so others can live,â she added simply.
I swallowed hard as I looked around again. The injured soldiers, the tired slaves, the broken ground. My chest tightened slightly as I imagined the kind of danger they face every single time.
Before I could say anything, I suddenly noticed movement in front of me.
I looked up and saw the other slaves walking toward me slowly. My heart skipped immediately.
I stepped back without thinking, my body becoming alert. I didnât understand what was going on and I wasnât ready for another fight.
They kept coming closer until they stopped right in front of me. For a second, no one said anything.
Then suddenly⊠they all went down on their knees. My eyes widened in shock.
âOur queen,â they all said together, their heads bowing low. My breath got stuck.
âWhat?â I muttered, completely confused as I stared at them.
None of them lifted their heads. They remained there, kneeling in front of me like I was someone important.
My heart started beating fast again but this time it wasnât fear, It was confusion.
I looked around, hoping someone would explain what was happening but no one did.
I was still standing there, frozen, as they all remained on their knees before me.
CHAPTER SEVENTY FOUR
LEENA POV
âWhat is going on, why are you kneeling and also calling me your queen?â I asked in shock while staring at them. My voice sounded confused even to my own ears because I didnât understand any of this at all.
âBecause you deserve it,â one of them said without raising her head. âYou are the strongest among us. No maid has ever faced those giant creatures before but you did and you are still standing here.â
âThat doesnât mean anything,â I said quickly, shaking my head. âI am just trying to survive like everyone else.â
They didnât respond to that. None of them moved. They remained on their knees like my words didnât change anything.
I felt uncomfortable seeing them like that. These were the same people that used to laugh at me, push me around, and treat me like I was nothing. Now they were bowing their heads to me like I was someone important and I didnât know what to do with that.
âStand up,â I said after a moment. No one moved.
âI said stand up,â I repeated, my voice a little firmer this time.
They slowly raised their heads and stood up one after the other but I could see it clearly in their eyes, nothing had changed. The respect was still there and it felt strange.
âYou donât have to do this,â I added but they didnât argue with me. They just nodded slightly like they heard me but still believed what they wanted.
âWe will take care of everything,â one of them said. âYou donât need to stress yourself.â
Before I could respond, they had already moved. Some of them started cleaning faster, some carried things away and others began fixing the place like they were trying to finish everything before I even tried to help.
I stood there for a moment, watching them.
When I tried to pick something from the ground, one of them rushed forward quickly.
âNo, you donât have to do that,â she said and took it from my hand.
âI can do it,â I said but she shook her head immediately.
âWe will handle it,â she replied and moved away before I could stop her.
It continued like that.
Every time I tried to do something, someone would stop me. They didnât allow me to touch anything at all. It was like I was no longer part of them.
As they moved around, I noticed something else. Anytime they walked past me, they bowed their heads slightly. Not all the way down like before but enough to show respect. I felt strange.
These were the same women that looked scary when I first arrived. The same ones that laughed at me and made me feel small. Now they were careful around me like they didnât want to offend me.
I didnât even know how to feel about it.
Part of me felt uncomfortable because I didnât ask for this. I was not used to being treated like this and it didnât feel normal.
Another part of me stayed quiet because I knew how this place worked. Strength was everything here and the moment they saw it, everything changed.
I looked down at my hands slowly.
Nothing about me felt different on the outside but clearly something had changed.
And whether I liked it or not⊠they had already decided who I was.
Later that evening, we were all gathered again after the work was done. I thought we would just return to our room and rest but that didnât happen. Some soldiers walked in and started looking around like they were searching for something. Their eyes moved from one person to another until they started pointing.
âYou⊠you⊠and you,â one of them said.
My heart started beating faster when his finger suddenly stopped at me.
âYou too,â he added.
I froze for a second but I didnât argue. I stepped forward slowly with the others. In total, we were about twenty girls standing there, all looking confused and worried.
âWhat is this about?â one of the girls asked quietly but no one answered her.
We were led to a larger open space where many soldiers were already gathered. Some were sitting, some were standing and most of them were drinking heavily. The smell of alcohol filled the air and their voices were loud and rough. It was clear they were not in a good state.
âWe are in a bad mood today,â one of the soldiers said loudly. âWe lost men in that fight and we need something to ease our mind.â My stomach tightened.
âYou girls will dance for us,â he continued.
No one said anything after that. We all understood what it meant. We didnât have a choice.
Music started playing and the soldiers began cheering loudly. Some of them laughed, some shouted and some kept drinking like they didnât care about anything anymore.
I stood there for a moment before forcing myself to move. My body felt stiff at first but I knew I couldnât stop. I started dancing slowly with the others, trying not to draw too much attention to myself. I hated it.
Every part of me wanted to stop. The way they were looking at us made my skin crawl and my heart felt heavy. But I didnât dare to stop because I knew what would happen if I did. So I kept moving.
The cheers became louder as time went on. Some of them stood up, clapping and laughing while others called out to us. It felt like it would never end.
Finally, after what felt like forever, the music stopped. Relief didnât come. Instead, the soldiers started standing up one after the other. Their eyes moved around again but this time it was different.
They were choosing. One by one, they pointed at the girls they wanted and dragged them away without hesitation. Some of the girls tried to resist but it didnât work. Their cries slowly faded as they were taken away.
My hands moved behind me and started shaking without control. I kept my head down, hoping no one would notice me.
Then I heard footsteps coming closer. I slowly lifted my head and saw one of the guards walking toward me. He was clearly drunk, his steps unsteady and his eyes dark. The way he looked at me made my body stiffen immediately.
âI will choose her,â he said, pointing directly at me.
My heart dropped but before he could come closer, another voice cut through the noise.
âShe belongs to me.â Everything went quiet for a second.
The Beta walked in, his expression calm but his eyes sharp. The soldiers immediately lowered their heads slightly when they saw him.
He stopped beside me and glanced at the guard.
âThose of you that are still eyeing her,â he said slowly, his voice clear, âavoid her now because you can never have her.â
Silence followed.
âOnly me,â he added.
My body tensed as he reached out and grabbed my arm. His grip was firm but not rough.
âCome,â he said.
I didnât resist. I let him lead me away from the place while the others remained there. My heart was still beating fast and my mind was filled with confusion and fear.
We got to his room and he told me to sit. I hesitated for a moment before finally sitting down slowly. My body was still tense and my mind was not at rest. He didnât sit immediately. He just stood there, staring at me without saying anything and that alone made me feel very uncomfortable.
âDo you know that Alpha Damian and Lady Samara got married yesterday?â he asked suddenly.
My heart hurt immediately just hearing those words. It felt like something inside me cracked but I tried not to show it.
âI donât know,â I muttered quietly.
He laughed lightly like he expected that answer.
âOf course you donât because you are trapped here,â he said.
My wolf reacted immediately. She started screaming in my head, her voice filled with anger and pain. I held my breath, trying to stay calm but it was hard.
He started walking toward me slowly and I shifted back on the seat without thinking.
âI want you to forget about the Alpha,â he said as he got closer.
âHe doesnât care about you. He doesnât love you,â he continued.
My chest tightened but I didnât say anything.
âGive me a chance,â he added, reaching for my hand and holding it.
âI will make you untouchable in this outpost. No one will dare touch you. Me and you will rule this place together.â
I tried to pull my hand away but his grip was too strong.
âI donât think I can⊠please let me go,â I said, my voice low.
His expression changed immediately and he frowned deeply, tightening his grip on my hand.
âWhy not?â he asked sharply.
âDo you think the Alpha will ever care about you again? You will remain in this outpost forever,â he yelled.
Before I could react, he moved closer and tried to kiss me. I quickly turned my head away, struggling to push him back but he was too strong. He pushed me down and my body hit the seat hard.
My strength was gone.
My wolf was not helping anymore. She had gone silent after hearing the news and it felt like I was alone again. Tears filled my eyes as I struggled weakly.
âStop⊠pleaseâŠâ I whispered but he didnât listen.
He moved closer again and I felt my hope slowly fading away.
Then suddenlyâŠ
âWhat the hell are you doing with my woman?â
The voice was loud and familiar and everything stopped.
The Beta was suddenly pulled away from me and before he could react, a strong punch landed on his face. He staggered back immediately, touching his lip as blood appeared but instead of getting angry, he smirked.
âYour woman?â he said.
âIf she is really your woman, why did you send her to the outpost in the first place knowing it is a dangerous place?â
I slowly sat up, my heart beating fast as I looked at him. It's really Alpha Damian.
He was standing there, his eyes dark with anger.
âBecause I trusted you,â he said coldly.
âI told you to watch over her for me. Protect her, not claim her as yours.â The Beta laughed lightly.
âI donât care,â he said.
âAnd I donât regret what I did. If I have the chance, I will claim her as much as I want.â
That was it.
The Alpha lost his control completely.
He stepped forward and threw another punch. The Beta blocked it this time and returned one immediately. The sound echoed in the room as they both fought back.
The fight became intense quickly.
They moved fast, hitting and blocking each other without holding back. But it didnât take long before the Alpha gained the upper hand.
His punches became heavier and more aggressive.
The Beta started stepping back, trying to defend himself but it wasnât enough. The Alpha hit him again and again like he was planning to kill him.
I stood there, frozen, watching everything.

CHAPTER SIXTY NINE
ALPHA DAMIAN POV
Everything about this situation doesnât feel right and no matter how I try to ignore it, my mind keeps telling me the same thing over and over again that she didnât do it. I sat there in the council earlier and listened to everything, the accusations, the witness, the anger from the elders, but something inside me refused to accept it.
Leena didnât look like someone who could do something like that. The way she kept shaking her head, the way her voice broke when she tried to defend herself, it didnât look like a lie. It felt real and that is what is troubling me the most.
But the elders have already made up their minds and Samaraâs condition made everything worse because no one is willing to doubt her at this moment. I could see it clearly, they are all on her side and anything I say against it will only create more problems.
I clenched my fist tightly as I stood by the window, watching the guards prepare the carriage outside. This is not how I wanted things to go but I need time. I need proof.
I have already sent a letter to my Beta at the outpost, giving him a clear order to watch over her and make sure nothing happens to her no matter what. If anything goes wrong, I will hold him responsible.
The carriage door was opened and I saw her being led outside by the guards. Her hands were not tied but the way they surrounded her made it clear she had no way to escape.
She looked weak but she still walked forward.
For a moment, she turned her head slightly toward this direction like she felt my presence even though she couldnât see me standing here. My chest tightened without warning.
Then she looked away and stepped into the carriage without saying anything.
The door closed. I let out a slow breath, my jaw tightening.
âSurvive,â I muttered quietly.
Because until I find the truth⊠that is the only thing she must do.
LEENA POV
The journey didnât stop, the carriage kept moving forward without slowing down and I just sat there quietly, my body leaning against the side as the wheels rolled over the rough road again and again. I didnât even know how long we have been traveling but it felt like forever.
No one spoke to me. The guards just sat outside while I remained inside alone with my thoughts. My hands were resting on my lap and my fingers kept tightening and loosening without me even noticing.
Strangely, they gave me food.
One of the guards opened the carriage after some time and passed a plate to me without saying anything. I stared at it for a moment, surprised, because I wasnât expecting that at all. I thought they would just treat me like nothing. But I still took it.
I was hungry and my body was weak so I didnât argue. I ate slowly, the food tasting bland but I forced myself to finish it anyway because I knew I would need strength for whatever is waiting for me.
After that, the journey continued again.
The carriage kept moving and moving, the same sound repeating in my ears until it started to feel like it was inside my head. I leaned back and closed my eyes for a moment but my mind refused to rest. Everything kept replaying.
The council⊠Freya⊠Lady Samara⊠the punishment and Alpha Damian. My chest tightened slightly but I quickly pushed the thought away.
My wolf was silent.
She hasnât said anything since everything happened and that scared me more than anything. She always talks, always reacts, always complains but now⊠nothing.
It felt like I was completely alone.
By the time the carriage finally slowed down, the sun was already going down. The light outside had turned orange and the air felt colder.
âWe are here,â one of the guards said roughly.
The door opened and I was dragged out before I could even prepare myself. My feet touched the ground and I lifted my head slowly.
Then my eyes widened because the place looked horrible.
Everything looked dirty and rough like no one cared about it. The ground was dry and cracked, the buildings looked old and broken and there was a strange smell in the air that made my stomach turn.
I could see soldiers everywhere.
They were big⊠huge⊠their bodies looked strong and dangerous and the way they moved made my heart beat faster. Some of them were laughing loudly, some were training and some were just standing around with weapons in their hands.
Their eyes moved toward me. I felt it immediately.
The way they looked at me made my skin crawl.
Then I saw the slaves.
They looked weak and tired, their bodies dirty, their clothes torn and their faces empty like they have already given up on everything. Some of them were carrying things, some were cleaning and some were just sitting on the ground like they didnât even have strength anymore.
I swallowed hard. I have heard about this place before but seeing it with my own eyes was different. They donât send people here unless they want them to suffer.
Only women who have committed serious crimes are sent here so they can live the rest of their lives in pain.
My legs started shaking where I stood. Before I could even think, the guards dragged me forward and took me deeper into the place.
Then I saw the Beta. I froze slightly as I recognized him immediately. We had met once before and I still remember the way he looked at me that day.
âWe meet again,â he said with a smirk, his eyes scanning my body in a way that made me uncomfortable.
I quickly lowered my gaze and stared at the ground. I didnât want to look at him.
âTake her to one of the rooms,â he said casually.
Just like that, I was handed over to another soldier. This one looked even scarier.
He didnât say anything as he grabbed my arm and started leading me away. His grip was tight and I didnât even try to resist.
We walked through a narrow path before stopping in front of a small building.
He pushed the door open and dragged me inside.
âYou are going to be staying here,â he said before letting go of me.
I looked around and my breath got stuck.
There were already nine women inside and I will be the tenth. There was no bed only mats.
Dirty, worn out mats scattered on the floor.
The smell inside the room was worse and I had to fight the urge to cover my nose. Before I could say anything, the soldier turned and left, closing the door behind him.
Silence filled the room.
Then slowly, all of them turned to look at me.
Their eyes felt heavy. Some of them looked cold, some looked amused and some looked like they were already judging me.
âWhat a fragile rose,â one of them said with a small smirk.
âTo think she is about to get ruined, I pity her,â another one added and they all laughed.
My heart started beating faster.
âHow long do you think she will survive?â another one asked like I wasnât even there.
âMaybe two days,â one of the girls replied and they all laughed again.
I stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do.
Then I saw an empty mat. I slowly walked toward it and sat down quietly. But before I could even settle, someone suddenly kicked me.
I gasped and looked up quickly. A scary looking woman was standing in front of me, her eyes filled with warning.
âThat is my mat,â she said coldly.
âI⊠Iâm sorry,â I said quickly and stood up. I didnât argue. I just stepped away immediately.
âCome over here,â a voice said from the side.
I turned and saw a girl pointing at the empty mat beside her. I hesitated for a moment before walking toward her and sitting down.
She looked calmer than the others not friendly⊠but not as scary.
âHow did you get here?â she asked after I settled down.
âI was framed for killing⊠but I did not do it,â I said quietly. She looked at me for a moment before nodding slightly.
âI believe you,â she said.
I looked at her in surprise.
âYou donât look like someone who can hurt a fly,â she added. Her words made my chest tighten a little.
âWhat about you?â I asked slowly. âWhy are you here?â
She didnât hesitate.
âBecause I killed my boss, her husband and her two children,â she said. My eyes widened immediately.
âWhat?â I gasped. She looked at me and smirked slightly.
âWhy are you shocked? That is small,â she said casually. I couldnât even respond.
âDo you know the type of crimes the others here committed?â she continued. âYou must be tough if you want to survive here.â
Her words sent chills down my spine.
âI⊠understand,â I said quietly.
âGood,â she replied.
I swallowed hard before speaking again.
âThank you⊠I am Leena,â I said. She suddenly laughed.
âDonât tell people your name,â she said.
I frowned slightly.
âWe donât need names here,â she added.
Then she reached beside her and brought out two daggers. She handed one to me.
I stared at it in shock.
âWhat is this for?â I asked, my voice slightly shaking.
âFor protection,â she said simply. âWhen you sleep, hold it close to you.â
I looked at the dagger in my hand and felt a shiver run down my spine.
She laid down on her mat and placed her own dagger on her chest like it was normal.
I just sat there, still staring at mine. My heart was beating fast. My mind was spinning. What kind of place is this?
And how am I supposed to survive here?
CHAPTER SEVENTY
LEENA POV
Night came slowly and the room became quiet but it didnât feel peaceful at all. Everyone had already settled on their mats but no one was really sleeping. I laid down slowly on the mat beside the girl who gave me the dagger and I held it tightly in my hand just like she told me to do.
My body was tired but my eyes refused to close. Everywhere felt strange and dangerous and I couldnât relax even for a second. The air in the room was heavy and the smell was still there, making it hard for me to breathe properly.
After some time, I started hearing noises from outside. At first it was just footsteps and low voices but it didnât take long before it became louder. I could hear men laughing loudly and talking in rough voices. Some of them sounded drunk and the way they spoke made my body feel cold.
Then I heard a scream. It was from another room. My body froze immediately and I slowly sat up, my hand tightening around the dagger. The scream didnât stop immediately, it continued for a while before it slowly faded and everywhere became quiet again.
âWhat was that?â I whispered without thinking.
The girl beside me didnât even turn to look at me.
âKeep quiet if you want to survive,â she said calmly.
My heart was beating so fast and I didnât know what to do. I slowly laid back down but my body remained stiff.
After some minutes, footsteps came closer to our door. My breath got stuck in my throat.
The footsteps stopped right in front of our door and I heard someone trying to push it open. The handle moved slightly and my heart almost jumped out of my chest.
âOpen it,â a rough voice said from outside.
No one in the room moved. I held the dagger tighter, my hands shaking badly. I didnât even know what I was planning to do with it but I just held it like it could protect me.
âPlease go away,â one of the older slaves said quietly. The man outside laughed.
âSend the new one out,â he said. My eyes widened immediately.
âShe looks fresh,â another voice added and they both laughed again. Fear rushed through my whole body and I shook my head slowly even though they couldnât see me.
âNo one is coming out,â the same woman said again but her voice was still low.
There was silence for a moment and then I heard footsteps again but this time they were walking away.
I didnât relax immediately. I stayed still for a long time, listening carefully until I was sure they were gone. My whole body was shaking.
âYou are lucky,â the girl beside me said. I turned to look at her.
âThey donât usually leave that easily,â she added before turning to the other side like nothing happened.
I swallowed hard and looked down at the dagger in my hand. This place was worse than I imagined. I didnât sleep that night.
I just stayed there, holding the dagger tightly and listening to every sound until morning finally came.
The door suddenly opened roughly and bright light entered the room, making me squint my eyes.
âGet up,â one of the soldiers shouted. Everyone stood up immediately and I quickly followed them. My body felt weak and my eyes were heavy because I didnât sleep at all.
We were dragged outside and the cold morning air hit my face.
âMove,â another soldier said and pushed one of the women forward.
We were taken to a large open space where other slaves were already working. Some were carrying heavy loads, some were cooking, and some were cleaning weapons.
âSplit them,â a voice said.
Immediately, we were separated.
I was pushed toward a group carrying large containers of water. The container was placed in front of me and I stared at it in shock because it looked too heavy.
âCarry it,â the soldier said.
âI⊠I canât,â I said before I could stop myself. He glared at me.
âYou can or you will be beaten,â he said coldly.
My heart started beating fast again and I quickly bent down and tried to lift it. The weight was too much and I struggled immediately. My hands were shaking and my body felt like it would collapse.
âMove faster,â someone shouted from behind.
I forced myself to stand properly and started walking slowly. Each step felt heavy and painful and my arms felt like they would break at any moment.
I saw some of the other slaves carrying theirs like they were already used to it but I wasnât.
My legs suddenly gave up and I fell forward, dropping the container on the ground. Water spilled everywhere. Laughter followed immediately.
âLook at her,â one of the soldiers said.
âShe wonât last,â another added.
My face burned with embarrassment and I quickly tried to stand up but my body felt too weak.
Before I could even get up properly, a hand grabbed my arm roughly and pulled me up.
âDo you want to die here?â the soldier snapped.
âIâm sorry,â I said quickly.
âPick it up,â he said.
I bent down again and lifted the container with everything I had left in me. My body hurt badly but I didnât dare drop it again. As I struggled to move, I felt eyes on me. I didnât need to look to know someone was watching.
And it was the Beta.
He was standing not too far away, his arms folded as he watched everything. There was a smirk on his face and his eyes didnât leave me.
It made my skin crawl. I quickly looked away and focused on walking.
That night, the room was not as quiet as before.
Everyone had returned from the dayâs work, their bodies tired and dirty, but there was still tension in the air. I sat on my mat quietly, my body aching from everything I went through. My arms still hurt from carrying the heavy container and my legs felt weak, but I didnât complain.
I was trying to stay unnoticed. But it didnât work.
The same girl who had been laughing at me earlier stepped forward again. She had a mocking smile on her face as she looked down at me like I was nothing.
âLook at her,â she said loudly so everyone could hear.
âThe little weak thing is still alive.â Some of the others chuckled softly.
I didnât say anything. I just kept my head down, hoping she would leave but she didnât.
She suddenly kicked my leg, making me lose balance slightly.
âStand up when I am talking to you,â she snapped.
I slowly lifted my head and looked at her but didnât say anything. That seemed to annoy her even more.
âAre you dumb too?â she added and laughed.
Before I could react, she pushed me hard and I fell to the ground. My body hit the floor and pain shot through me immediately. Laughter filled the room.
âMaybe she wonât even last till tomorrow,â another voice said.
I slowly pushed myself up, my chest rising and falling as I tried to stay calm, but inside me everything was boiling.
I didnât want to fight because I didnât want trouble.
I just wanted to survive.
âStop acting like that,â the girl beside me suddenly said quietly. I turned to look at her.
âIf you keep acting weak, they will never stop,â she continued. I swallowed hard.
âI donât want to fight,â I said honestly. She looked at me for a moment before shaking her head.
âThen you will die here,â she said simply.
Her words hit me harder than anything else.
âThey will bully you every day, use you, step on you, and no one will help you,â she added. My hands slowly clenched.
âIf you want to survive, you must fight back,â she said finally. Silence filled my head after that.
The girl in front of me laughed again and turned like she was done with me.
That was when something inside me snapped. I slowly stood up. My body felt different. I didnât even realize when I started moving.
Before anyone could understand what was happening, I rushed forward and grabbed her hair from behind. She didnât see it coming at all.
She screamed in shock.
âWhat theââ She tried to turn and fight back but my grip tightened. I didnât even feel weak anymore. My body felt full of strength like something else had taken over completely. And I realized it's my wolf.
âYou think I am weak?â I said, my voice low and strange even to my own ears. She struggled but it was useless. With just one hand, I lifted her up from the ground.
The entire room went silent. Shock filled their faces. Even though I didn't understand what I was doing, I couldnât stop.
Then without hesitation, I threw her hard against the wall.
Her body slammed into it with a loud sound and she dropped to the ground immediately.
No one laughed this time. Everyone just stared at me. Silence filled the room.
My chest was rising and falling slowly and my hand was still slightly raised from the throw.
I was even shocked.
But my wolf wasnât. she was not silent anymore.
And deep down, I knew something had changed.
I was not the same weak girl they saw before.
CHAPTER SEVENTY ONE
LEENA POV
The moment her body hit the wall, the entire room went silent. No one laughed anymore.
The girl I threw was lying on the ground, holding her side as she groaned in pain, her face twisted like she didnât even understand what just happened to her. Everyone was staring at me like I was something they had never seen before.
My chest was rising and falling slowly and my hand was still slightly raised. I didnât even know when I lowered it.
âWhat⊠was that?â one of the girls whispered.
âShe is not normal,â another one muttered quietly.
The same people that were laughing at me earlier were now looking at me with fear in their eyes. No one moved close to me again. No one said anything.
I slowly turned and looked at the girl beside me, the one that told me to fight back. She was staring at me too but there was no fear in her eyes. Instead, she smirked slightly.
âGood,â she said calmly.
âNow they wonât touch you easily.â
I looked down at my hand, still trying to understand what just happened. My body didnât feel weak anymore. It felt different.
But something about it scared me too. Before I could say anything, the door suddenly opened roughly.
Two guards rushed inside with angry expressions on their faces.
âWhat is going on here?â one of them shouted loudly. No one answered immediately.
Their eyes moved around the room until they saw the girl on the ground.
âWhat happened to her?â the second guard asked, his voice filled with suspicion. The room was still quiet.
Then suddenly, one of the girls pointed at me.
âShe did it.â
All eyes turned to me again. The guard stepped forward, his gaze fixed on me.
âYou?â he asked, looking me up and down like he didnât believe it.
âShe threw her like that,â another one added quickly. The guard frowned deeply and walked closer to me.
âYou did this?â he asked again.
I didnât say anything immediately but I didnât deny it either.
He paused for a moment, his eyes narrowing as he studied me carefully. Then he looked at the girl on the floor again and back at me.
âYou⊠how did you do that?â he asked slowly.
The room became even more silent. The guard left the room and I felt that I was no longer invisible.
ALPHA DAMIAN POV
I couldnât ignore it anymore. No matter how everything played out in the council, my mind kept telling me the same thing again and again that Leena didnât do it. Something about it didnât feel right and I wasnât going to sit back and let it go like that.
That was why Freya was now in front of me.
She was dragged into the room by the guards, her hands tied and her face filled with fear but she was still trying to act calm. I stood there, staring at her without saying anything for a moment, letting the silence make her uncomfortable.
âSay the truth,â I finally said.
She swallowed hard but quickly shook her head.
âI already did, my Alpha,â she replied.
My jaw tightened. I took a step closer to her and her body stiffened immediately.
âDonât lie to me,â I said, my voice dropping.
âI am not lying,â she insisted but her voice wasnât as strong as before.
Anger started building inside me and I couldnât control it anymore. My eyes started changing color slowly and I could feel my wolf getting restless. The air around me became heavy and she noticed it immediately.
Fear flashed across her face.
âLast chance,â I said.
She shook her head again but this time it was slower.
âI said the truth,â she muttered.
That was when I lost my patience. I moved forward quickly and grabbed her by the neck, lifting her slightly off the ground. She gasped loudly, her hands struggling against mine.
âDo you think I wonât kill you?â I growled, my voice no longer calm.
Her eyes widened in pure fear now. Tears filled her eyes immediately as her body started shaking.
âIt was not me!â she cried out.
My grip tightened slightly.
âThen who?â I asked.
âIt was Lady Samara!â she shouted quickly.
My hand froze.
âShe told me to say it, she told me to lie, I didnât have a choice,â she added, her voice breaking as tears rolled down her face.
I stared at her for a moment before slowly dropping her. She fell to the ground, coughing heavily and trying to catch her breath.
âLock her up,â I told the guards coldly.
They immediately dragged her away.
âBy tomorrow, she will say everything in front of the elders,â I added before turning and walking out.
I went back to my room, my mind heavy with everything I just heard.
The moment I entered, I saw Samara already there.
She stood up immediately and walked toward me with a soft smile, like nothing was wrong. She tried to touch me but I stepped back.
âDamianâŠâ she called softly, moving closer again. I pushed her away without thinking.
âGo to your room,â I said coldly.
Her face changed immediately.
âDamian, what is wrong?â she asked but I didnât answer her.
âI said go,â I repeated.
She stared at me for a moment before turning and leaving slowly. I stood there alone, my fist clenched tightly because everything was starting to make sense now.
LEENA POV
THE NEXT DAY
We started our morning duty again and this time everything felt different. The container that almost broke my arms yesterday didnât feel that heavy anymore and I was able to carry it without struggling too much. My body still hurt but it was not the same kind of weakness from before. It felt like I was getting used to it quickly.
My wolf hasnât been quiet since last night. She kept talking in my head and moving around like she was excited about something.
âDo you think he has forgotten about us already?â she asked again.
I didnât answer immediately because I didnât know what to say. The thought alone made my chest feel tight.
âI donât know,â I finally muttered in my mind.
But I couldnât help thinking about it. Has he really forgotten me completely?
I shook my head and focused on my work, trying not to think too much.
After some time, I finished carrying one of the containers and was on my way back when someone suddenly stepped in front of me, blocking my path.
I stopped. It was the girl I fought with last night.
Her eyes were filled with anger and behind her were three other girls, making four of them. I noticed immediately that they were not from our room.
âSo you think you are strong now?â she said with a smirk.
I didnât respond. I just tried to walk past them but one of the girls grabbed my arm and pushed me back.
âWhere do you think you are going?â another one said.
âYou were faking it, right?â the first girl added.
âActing weak when you first came here so people will pity you,â one of them said and they all laughed.
âI wasnât faking anything,â I said quietly.
âLiar,â she snapped immediately.
I tried to move again but this time she grabbed my hair from behind and pulled me back hard.
Pain shot through my head and I gasped.
âDonât turn your back on me,â she said angrily.
I pulled her hand away but another girl grabbed me again.
âStay there,â she said.
They kept pushing me around and dragging me by my hair like I was nothing. I tried to stay calm at first but they didnât stop. Something inside me snapped again.
I suddenly pushed one of them hard and she fell back. The others rushed at me immediately and we started fighting.
It was messy and rough. They were four and I was alone but my body didnât feel weak. I blocked some of their hits and pushed them away, hitting back when I could. My wolf was fully awake now and I could feel her strength moving through me.
âFight,â she growled in my head. I didnât hold back anymore. After some time, loud voices were heard and guards rushed toward us.
âStop!â one of them shouted.
They grabbed all of us roughly and pulled us apart. My breathing was heavy and my body was tense but I didnât look away from them.
We were dragged away immediately and taken to the Beta.
The moment we got there, he was already waiting.
He looked at me with that same smirk on his face, like he already knew what happened.
âSo⊠causing trouble already,â he said to me.
No one spoke. He leaned back slightly and looked at all five of us.
âGood,â he said. Then his smile widened.
âYou fourâŠâ he pointed at the girls.
âAnd youâŠâ he added, looking directly at me.
âYou will fight each other.â My heart skipped.
âA tournament,â he continued calmly.
âAnyone who losesâŠâ he paused slightly.
âThe soldiers are free to do whatever they want with them.â My heart started beating loudly in my chest.
I looked at the four girls and saw the smirk on their faces. They looked confident like they were sure they would win.
A circle was quickly drawn on the ground and we were pushed inside.
I swallowed hard, my hands slowly clenching.
A whistle was raised. Then it blew and the fight started.
