Theme: Arrows of the Lord's deliverance
Text: 2 Kings 13: 14- 19
Introduction
Arrows are instruments of warfare to attack an enemy. Ps 144: 6. If it Lord's arrow it means it is a type of Lord's instrument for warfare.
Deliverance means being set free from bondages or barriers that tied one down from walking in victory.
In the text we can learn some lessons.
1. The king of Israel Joash had a formidable enemy. We too have this enemy and his agents. Eph 6: 12-13, John 10:10, Ps 91:5
2.He went to Elisha to help him. Elisha told him what to do .He gave him instructions. The word of the Lord has given us what to do to defeat the enemies. Eph 6:11, Ps 18:6
3. IST instruction is to take bow and arrows. We are enjoined to use the weapon of warfare. Eph 6: 11
3. Elijah and the King put their hands on the bow and arrows. Jesus say we can do nothing without him.
John 15: 5 , but we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us Phil 4: 13. With him I can run throughout a troop Ps 18: 29
4. He was asked to open the window. Get rid of every hindrance if you want God to act on your behalf. Sin 1John 3:22, doubt and unbelief James 1: 6-8, Unforgiveness Mk 11: 25-26
5. Elisha asked him to shoot after hitting the ground which he did 3 times. He told him the arrows are the arrows of the Lord's deliverance and he will win only 3 times. God wants us to be winning and that is why we must keep on the fight without stopping. Luke 18:1, 1Pet 5: 8
As we continue to pray to the Lord He will send His arrows to deal with our enemies. God can use anything as His arrow. That is why bible say God has open His arsenal and brought out His weapons of wrath. Jer 50: 25 Our enemies are in trouble and our victory is assured.
Prayers
1. Oh Lord I thank you for the victory that you have already won for me at Calvary.
2. Job 6: 4 Oh Lord send your arrows against my enemies and release the poison of the arrow into the enemies
3. Ps 7 : 13 Father send you arrows of death against all my persecutors. Sicknesses, diseases, infirmities, shame, disgrace , and silent persecutors.
4. Ps 18: 14 Oh Lord my God send out your arrow of deliverance into the camp of my enemies and let them scatter
5. Ps 57: 4 Oh Lord send out your arrow of deliverance and let it pierce the heart of every giant working against my destiny.
6. Ps 64: 7 Father just like the rod of Moses swallow the rod of Egypt magicians please send your arrow of deliverance and let it destroy the arrows of the enemies against me and my family
7. Ps 144: 6 Or Lord my father shoot out your arrows with flaming fire and destroy all my enemies.
8. Ezek 5: 16 Father please send your arrow of famine into the land of my enemies.
9. Hab 3: 11 Oh Lord my God let your arrow of deliverance with lightning go into area of darkness in my life and
destroy all the works of darkness in my home and family.
10.The Lord's Arrows of Testimony appear by fire and change every negative situations in my life.
11. Your individual prayers
12. Thank God for helping you and for answering your prayers.
Praise the Lord.

THEME: KEEPING AND MAINTAINING GOD’S APPROVED RELATIONSHIPS III 8th July 2020
TEXT: Gal 6:10, John 1:12 - 13

INTRODUCTION:

We thank God for the last two teachings on the theme. We have being studying. We have studied four types of relationships and how to maintain them because they are relationships that God approved. We have also seen that not all relationships are God’s approved. Today we want to study another type of relationship and how to maintain it.

GOD’S FAMILY:

This is the relationship that connects us to the one who orchestrated our new birth and with those born in the same manner. God’s family is the family of believers where God is our father 1Cor 8:6, Mt 6: 9. And Jesus is our brother. We become part of the family at the new birth when we receive Him John 1:12-13. Having become a child of God, we become fellow citizens with the saints Eph. 2:19-22, the household of faith Gal. 6:10, household of God, 1Tim. 3:15. Hence all of us become one with the same father where there is neither Greek or Jew but one in Christ. Gal, 3:28. In other words, no discrimination. Acts 10: 34-35.
God is interested in this relationship because the family will continue here after. John 14:1-2, Eph. 1:9-10, and we are fellow citizens of heaven with the saints Eph. 2:19.

01) How are the members of the family related?

We are all born of God. John 1:13, Born of the spirit John 3: 5-8
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ Rom. 10:9, 1John 5:1 for we are son of God by faith in Jesus Christ. Gal. 3:26, Acts 2:40 – 41
Mt 8:15 –We are doing the will of the father
We are heir of the kingdom and joint heir with Christ. Rom 8:17
Led the by spirit of God. Rom 8:14 and are controlled by the spirit. Rom 8:19 and the spirit that we receive is that of sonship. Rom 8:15
We are children who received righteousness by faith. Rom 4:13 and promises by faith Rom 4:16 and justified by faith Rom 5:1

02) How do we strengthen or maintain this relationship?

Love one another – No hatred, No bitterness – 1John 4:11, Eph. 4:2-3, John 15: 12-13, Heb. 12:15. Let anger be put away from you.
Submitting to one another Eph. 5:21, in the fear of the Lord, wives submitting to husbands. Eph. 5:22, Husband submitting to the wives, children submitting to the parents (Biological and Spiritual) 1Pet. 5:5, Don’t rebuke an elder but take him as a father 1Tim 5:1 and the older women as mothers.
Unity amongst brethren. Pursue courses that will unify the brethren. 1Cor 1:10, Acts 4:32, Phil 2:2-3, Ps 133:1-2.
Learn to forgive each other. Col. 3:13, keep on the fellowship of peace, 2 Cor. 13:11
Fellowshipping together: Heb. 10:25, Acts 4:42, Eph. 5:19 and we need to encourage and build up one another. 1Thes 5:11. Jesus said where two or three are gathered in His name, He will be there, Mt 18:20 and we walk in the light if we fellowship with one another. 1John 1:17
Caring for one another. Acts 2:44-57, Rom 12:10. It is the duty of every believer to care for each other. Pray for each other, support each other, comfort the distress and help the weak. Gal. 6:1-2. Don’t take advantage of your brother. 1 Thes. 4:10 and do good to the household of faith. Gal. 6:10
Speaking truth to one another: Don’t speak against each other. James 4:11, speaking truth in love, Ehp.4:15, don’t tell lies to one another Eph. 4:25, No corrupt communication, Eph. 5:29, and no filthiness nor foolish talking or jesting. Eph. 5:4.
Living in holiness: As long as we live in Holiness, the presence of God will terbanacle with us and will draw us closer to one another. As long as we obey Him together, He will not withdraw His Holy Spirit. Ps. 51:10-12 and we can all make heaven together. Rev. 21:7-8.

CONCLUSION:
The relationship of brethren is very important to God. This is the relationship that transcend to eternity. The desire of God and the Lord Jesus Christ is that we should be one. John 17:12. When we do these things that keep us together, we are able to say ABBA FATHER together.

HOUR OF MERCY.
Good morning on this 2nd day of July 2020.
Theme : Thank the author of Life
Text : Psalm 34 : 1-7
Some 7 days ago I asked us to thank God for at least one hour every day for 7 days. On Sunday night I had a confirmation from the Lord that the praises, Thanksgiving and worship was moving the hand of the Lord to work on behalf of those that believed and were part of this sacrifice unto our maker and author.
1.God created us and gave us life Gen 1 : 26-28, Psalm 139:14
2 He kept maintaining us by continually giving us life John 10: 10
3.Our lives are in His hands Job : 12: 9-10. He can kill and bring back to life Deut 32: 39, 1 Samuel 2: 6.
With these facts ask yourself how you have survived this pandemic to date? It is because He cares about us and He has encompass us with this loving kindness.
Today we shall be completing the 7 days praise , worship and Thanksgiving. If you are yet to join us please do it today. David said in the text that he will bless the Lord at all times. Verse 3 says O magnify the Lord with me. Let's honour Him the more and He will do more and honour us with more life. Hallelujah.
Prayers
1. Thank Him for the past six months for protection , mercies, provision and in fact for all His benefits
2. Thank Him for deliverance from Corona virus and other evils in the last 6 months.
3. Thank Him for He is mindful of you and for His seven eyes that He is using to watch over us and our households
4. Thank Him for His faithfulness and for not giving up on you.
5. Thank Him for the next six months for the benefits you are going to receive
6. Thank Him that you are still going to go to His sanctuary and praise and offer sacrifices of Thanksgiving

THEME: KEEPING AND MAINTAINING GOD’S APPROVED RELATIONSHIPS II 1st July 2020

TEXT: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

INTRODUCTION:

Last week we begin a study on this topic. We learnt that not all relationship is good or right and some relationships that people entered into are not approved by God. However we confirmed that God is interested in relationship and He was the one that orchestrated relationship in the beginning. We studied two types of relationships. Today we will like to study two other types of relationships. I pray that God will bless us as we journey through the word together.

1. MARITAL RELATIONSHIP:

Marital relationship is the relationship that exists between a husband and a wife. In other words, this is how two people male and female are connected in marriage. Gen 2:23-24. When it is God’s approved, it means the coming together by a man and a woman in marriage in accordance with the word of God and God acting as a witness. Mal 2:14. Accordingly, every marriage that God approves, it is a covenant relationship. It means you made a vow in the presence of God and to God regarding your spouse. Marital relationship is one in which there is conjugal relationship. Gen 4:1, 1Cor. 7:4-5

Why is marital relationship important to God?

It is a model of the relationship between Christ and the Church. Eph. 5:22-32

It is supposed to be permanent relationship until death. Mat 19:5-6, 1Thes 4:17

It is the most intimate of all human relationships. Gen 2:23-25
It involves leaving, cleaving and united by the man and the woman

It is a sanctified relationship – to be kept holy. Heb13:4, Ezek. 26:1-63

To raise Godly seed so that we can fulfill God’s injunction of fruitfulness and increase. Mal 3:15, Gen 1:28, Rom 8:4

It is evident from the scripture that there are types of marital relationships that God does not approve John 4: 17-18

Marital relationship between a believer and unbeliever
God frowned at situations where a believer will go and get wedded to an unbeliever. This is however different from when the marriage was consummated when the two were unbelievers and one has given his/her life to the Lord and is now a believer. 2 Cor. 6:14-16, 1Sam 25:3-35

Marital relationship between a man and many wives otherwise called polygamy. The standard of God for marriage is one wife and one husband. Gen 2:18 – 25. Jesus echoed that it was monogamy from the beginning. Mat 19:4-8
Elders are to be husband of one wife. 1Tim 3:2, just like the Deacons 1Tim 3:12. With many wives there is bound to be favourites, contentions, schemes and idolatry as witnessed in the bible.

Living together without formal marriage between a man and a woman – No marriage, traditional, registry or in the Church. John 4:17-18

Other types of marital relationship. Rom. 1:26-27, 32
Man marrying man – Homosexual
Woman marrying a woman – Lesbianism
Human marrying animals – Sensual Exo. 22:19 – Be******ty
Fathers wife – Deut.22:30
Sister – Deut. 27:22-23

How to maintain God’s approved marital Relationship

Commitment: Christ is committed to us and He expects partners to be committed to one another in marriage. 1Cor. 7:10-11, Rom 7:1-3. In sickness or under any circumstance that is palatable or unpalatable you have to be committed. Gen 27:21. It requires hard work and sacrifice.

Trust: Trust is essential to maintain a healthy marital relationship. Trust believes that the other party is totally committed to the other party’s good. Prov. 31:11-12. You must not hide anything from each other. This allows the trust to grow. Be open and be honest to one another. Don’t lie.

Communication: Honest, open conversation is important in marital relationship, through dialogue; bonding is developed, through confidence building, trust building and helps in building emotional strength. Speaking to yourself in psalms, hymns, making melody. Eph. 5:19.

Love: Husband love your wife. Col 3:19. True love protects.
Love must be expressed. 1John 3:18 and parties must not live in fear 1John 4:18. Don’t give up on each other- 1Cor 13:6-7. Trust each other with compassion.
Respect and Honour each other: Honour one another – Rom. 12:10. Render due benevolence to each other. 1Cor. 7:3, 1Pet 3:7

Tolerance: Eph. 4:2- Bearing one another in love.

Forgiveness: Love does not keep record of wrongs 1Cor. 13:4-5
Make allowance for each other’s fault – Col. 3:13-14

2. FRIENDSHIP RELATIONSHIP 1 Sam 18: 1-4

God is interested in friendship between Man and Man. Going by our text, there is success in two people who are connected and bonded together in achieving greater success. God knows that we need some people to fulfill our destiny. Joseph needed the Butler. Gen 41:9. David needed Jonathan 1Sam 18:1-4. Abraham was a friend of God. James 2:23. However, you need to choose your friend carefully and this is where the importance of work of the Holy Spirit should prevail. You must be led by the Holy Spirit. Rom. 8:14 Why is this necessary?
Iron sharpens iron. Prov. 27:17
A good friend gives counsel. It is dangerous to live as a alone ranger but it is equally bad when you receive bad counsel from wicked heart. Prov. 11:14, Prov. 15:22, 2 Sam 13:1-32
A friend that is committed may be better than a brother Prov. 18:24
A wise friend can have a positive influence on someone. Prov. 13:20, Prov. 27:17. However bad company corrupts good manners.
Don’t make friendship with an angry man. Prov. 22: 24-26
Don’t make friendship with unreliable people and unfruitful work of darkness or there that practice them. Prov. 18:24, 2 Sam 15:31 –

How do you maintain approved God’s friendship Jonathan and David.
Love – Platonic loving relationship: David and Jonathan loved each other. Jonathan loved David as his own soul. He made a covenant with David, 1 Sam. 18:1-3 Jesus loved lazarus. John 11:35-36, Rom 5:8. God demonstrated His love for us that when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Loyalty – John 15:13 – Jonathan was loyal to David & vice versa. 1Sam 19;1-7, 11 Sam 9: 1-5
Openness and Honesty – Jonathan stripped himself bare for David. Honest discussions Prov. 24:26 (GTA Translation)
Sacrifice – Friends that are ready to give not waiting to receive can do anything for their friend. John 15:13, He laid down his life for his friends.

God made Jesus sin who knew no sin 2Cor. 5:21
He became poor so that we can be rich. 2 Cor. 8:9
Jesus laid his life for us- An example for us to follow. 1John 3:16
Bare our sins; by His stripes we are healed. 1Pet. 2:24

CONCLUSION

Today we have studied two other types of relationship. You need relationship to fulfill your destiny. Many relationship that would have helped in fulfilling destiny has been ruined because of not been able to maintain either marital or friendship relationship. Where such relationship has broken down, you need to do something about it today.

Know where you have missed it
Cry to the lord to repair same
Take steps to repair same

FOUNTAIN OF LOVE PARISH, 44 AGEGE MOTOR ROAD, MOSHALASI, MUSHIN

THEME: KEEPING AND MAINTAINING GOD’S APPROVED RELATIONSHIPS 26th June 2020

TEXT: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

1. INTRODUCTION:

Relationship is the way in which two or more people or things are connected together. It can also mean the way people, group behave towards or get involved with each other. God orchestrated relationship.

Gen 2:18- God said it is not good for Adam to be alone. God himself used to come and fellowship with Adam and Eve

Gen 3: 8.
Man is created for relationships. Man is wired and created to loving association with one another. Jesus called twelve (12) disciples, ordained them so that they could be with him (in relationship) Mark 3:14.

Unfortunately COVID’19 has being having impact in relationships. Social distancing is one of the protocols and has been having adverse effect. How do we keep and maintain God’s approved relationships with social distancing and other restrictions? This study is expected to bring us awareness in keeping and maintaining Gods approved type of relationships. Our text confirms that with right relationship there can be greater achievements.

TYPES OF RELATIONSHIPS:

Trinitical Relationship – This is the relationship that exists between the God head. This is the relationship that exists between God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Gen 1:2-3. The Bible stated that God created the Earth and all things by the word with the presence of the presence of the spirit of God.
Jesus is the word, John 1:1. They are all one in all.

Jesus said He and the Father are one. John 10:30
Jesus said all the father has belongs to him and all he has belongs to the father. John 17:10
The Holy Spirit is called the Holy Spirit of God and also the spirit of Christ. Eph. 4:30, 1Pet 1:11 and God gave the fullness of the spirit to his Son, John 3:34
They testify of each other John 3:36 and the Son loves the Father and that is why he obeyed the Father completely John 4:31, and even unto death Phil 2:6-8. Multiply, replenish the earth and to dominate all his creation.
Gen 1:26-28

God and Man – Man was created in the image of God with full authority to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth and to dominate all his creation. Gen 1:26-28

* God’s relationship with man started with Adam and Eve. They used to fellowship together Gen 2:8-9. After the fall in the Garden of Eden, man lost that sweet relationship with God.
God set up a redemptive plan and activate it by entering into a relationship with Abraham, Gen 12:1-3.

God called Abraham ‘His Friend’ indicating the level of relationship between him and Abraham. Isaiah 41:8.Abraham be called a friend of God because of his faith in God, James 2:23. He believed God that what he said he would do, He shall do it and it was accounted to him as righteousness.

*Abraham friendship grew as a result of the knowledge of God and his obedience to God. By this he kept maintaining that friendship even in the midst of trials.

We too can also become a friend of God by accepting in by faith , walking in faith and in obedience to Him, Heb. 11:8-9, Gen 22: 1- 8. By faith, we are saved through grace Eph. 2:8, Acts 16:31, and by faith we keep on maintaining our relationship. Despite the pandemic, we must believe God and his words. We must walk by faith not by sight. 2Cor 5:7, Heb. 11:16.

Abraham obeyed the Lord totally and walked with him in obedience, Gen 22:1-18. God told him to sacrifice his son that he loved and he obeyed until God made a substitute of ram. Heb.11:19 confirmed that he believed that God was able to raise Isaac the child he wanted to use as sacrifice.

Jesus said we are his friends, if we do what he commanded us to do. John 15:14.
Abraham had the knowledge of God and grow in that knowledge.
In Gen 12:1-3, when God called him, His knowledge of God was limited.
In Gen 17: 1- Abraham knew God as the Almighty
In Gen 18: 14- God told him that there is nothing too hard for Him
In Gen 22:14- Abraham knew God as Jehovah – Jireh, the one that can provide.
God was so particular about revealing secrets to Abraham His friend. Gen 18:17. When God was going to destroy S***m and Gomorrah, Abraham and God entered into series of ‘Chats’ with Abraham pleading for the city and its inhabitants. That is what strong friendship with God can do.

Jesus said He revealed all he heard from His father to the disciples who he called friends, John 14:15.
As believers we must have the deep knowledge of God through His word and by drawing near Him day by day. Acts 17:27. We are enjoined to grow in the knowledge of God. 2Peter 3:18. Grace and peace is multiplied unto us through the knowledge of Christ. 2 Pet1:1-2. We need grace to live during this time and we need to rest in His peace and this can only be gotten if our knowledge of Him as the Prince of Peace and God of Grace. Maintaining our relationship with God is dependent on our faith and our knowledge of Him

God loved Abraham and he in turn loved Him.
Abraham loved God so that every command of God he obeyed, no matter how difficult it was. It is only one who loved God that can obey Him totally 1John 5:3. Jesus said ‘If you love me, you will obey my commandment and he that loveth him, shall be loved by the father and I will love him and manifest myself to him. John 14:21

If we keep on loving and obeying His commandment, our relationship will be deepened and maintained with God. Irrespective of whatever is happening, we must obey the command of the Lord.

CONCLUSION

Today we have looked at two relationships. One is ever constant while the one between God and you need to be strengthened.
It is my Prayer that you will rise above the events of this day and deepen your relationship with God.

26/06/2020

Good morning on this 26th day of June 2020.
On the 29th of March two states of Nigeria, Lagos and Ogun were asked to begin a lockdown on Monday the 30th. Prior to the announcement many offices, organisations have stopped their staff from coming to offices or the like which is about 3 months today. The reason is simply to keep away from Corona virus.
If you are reading this piece today it means the Almighty has been gracious to you and He helped you to defeat Covid 19 up till now. It is my prayers that it is defeated in our lives permanently.
My charge to you today is that you should pause, think about the mercy you have received.
1. I agree that lockdown has helped but it is God that keeps. Psalm 127: 1 He kept me and you both in the day and in the night Psalm 121: 4
2. He made provision for us during this time. Psalm 34:10
3.He gave us hope that we shall pull through and also for the future. Col 1: 27, Psalm 33 : 18-19
4. During the period many who did not have time to rest did and we all learnt great lessons that many of
the things we considered as important are actually not important. Eccles 12: 8
5. It is helping us to re-order our priorities.
I do believe with many more reasons we need to give thanks to God, praise and worship Him. In few days time we will have reached the end of the first half of a wonderful year. I will like you to join the children of God and myself in thanking God by praising and worshipping Him for one hour for the next seven days. Do it at your own time but make sure you do it. When we thank Him, He will do more as we move into the second half of the year.
" Our Hallelujah belongs to Him, He deserves it"
God bless you. Amen.
