DISCIPLER’S GUIDE FOR MINISTRY
God had called Samuel thrice, but he mistook it for Eli’s voice; now Eli guided him on how to respond.
The LORD came, stood there, and called him as before, and Samuel responded, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
This time, God visibly manifested Himself to Samuel and announced His plan to do something that makes ears tingle.
God would carry out his verdict against Eli and his family because Eli had allowed his sons to blaspheme God unrestrained.
God also vowed that the sins of Eli and his sons would never be forgiven by sacrifices or offerings.
By morning, Eli requested of Samuel everything God had said, and upon the report, Eli responded, “It is the LORD’s will; let him do what he thinks best.”
In Paul’s second letter to Timothy, Paul identified Timothy as his dear son and introduced himself as an Apostle of Christ Jesus, chosen and sent out by God’s will.
Paul acknowledged that in his regular intercession, he thanks God for Timothy, and longs to see him again
He reminded Timothy of his family heritage in the faith and believes the same faith continues strong in him.
Hence, Paul reminds Timothy to let the spiritual gift he received through the laying on of hands grow increasingly, as a small flame grows into a fire.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and sound mind.”
He further encouraged him not to be ashamed of telling people about Jesus or of him who is suffering and imprisoned for the Good News, and must be ready to suffer for the sake of the gospel
God loves us, called us, and he showed us his undeserved grace through Jesus
Timothy must hold on to the model of sound teaching and protect it with the help of the Holy Spirit

1ST LESSON: Prov. 4:20-27
2ND LESSON: Luke 18:15-17
FATHERLY ADVICE AND BLESSINGS
The fourth chapter of Proverbs presents a father’s wise advice, encouraging the sons not to swerve from the right way.
In the covered verses, the father’s instruction focuses on the anatomy of discipleship, including the ear, sight, heart, body, mouth, lips, eyes, and foot.
Implying that the whole body must be oriented towards the teachings of the father and respond beyond passive knowledge into taking the right actions.
The first point of call is to pay attention and let the words sink in deeply.
Solomon guarantees his teaching brings life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.
Solomon instructs his children to guard their hearts above all else, so that they may focus on desires that keep them on the right path.
They must not bend the truth, avoid corrupt speech, keep their heads straight, eyes fixed on their goals, and keep their feet from following evil.
It was customary for a mother to bring her children to a rabbi for a blessing.
Luke records an occasion where some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could place his hands on them and bless them, but the disciples saw this as an intrusion; perhaps the children are not worthy of the Master’s time.
On the contrary, Jesus cautioned the disciples, welcomed the children into his arms, placed his hands on their heads, and blessed them.
Jesus then used the moment to preach about the kingdom of God; God’s kingdom belongs to people like little children.
We must accept the Kingdom of God as little children accept things, because they totally depend on those who care for them.
We should receive the kingdom depending not on self-righteousness but on coming to him in humble trust and complete dependence.

316TH EDITION, MAY 31ST 2026
1ST LESSON: Joel 2:23-32
2ND LESSON: Luke 4:12-21
THE MINISTRY OF THE SAVIOR
God revealed that the mighty army locust attack was his doing and called for immediate repentance so that he might withdraw this curse and send blessings.
The LORD promised the restoration of grain, wine, and olive oil, enough to satisfy their needs.
God promised to demonstrate his faithfulness by sending autumn rain needed to soften the soil for plowing and the spring rain needed for the crop’s maturation.
He will also restore what they have lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts.
After restoring their food, God will pour out His Spirit upon all people; sons and daughters will prophesy, the old will dream, and the young men will see visions.
The era of the Spirit outpouring will be preceded by the ministry of the Messiah, when salvation will be available to all, but only the ones who call to the Lord will receive it.
In the second lesson, Jesus overcame the devil’s temptation by responding with Scripture, and the devil left him.
Jesus returned to Galilee filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, and he continues to teach in the synagogues.
He came to Nazareth, his boyhood village, and he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day.
The scroll of Isaiah was handed to him, and he unrolled it, finding the place where this was written:
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that the captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.”
After this, he announced, “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day.”
Thus, Jesus proclaimed himself as the Messiah, the one who brings God’s ancient promises to pass.
