"I have been married for nine years now, and God has blessed us with five beautiful daughters. But in my husband’s family, it is like I have done nothing.

My husband is the only son, and his mother has moved into our house since last year. Every morning, she greets me with, "Where is the man that will carry our name?"

The pressure is too much. My husband, who used to love me, has changed completely. He doesn’t even look at me unless he wants to try for another baby. Last month, I thought I finally had the answer. A friend took me to a woman in the village who gave me some herbs and told me to tie a white thread around my waist during the "process." I did everything. I even fasted for seven days.

But when I went for a scan last week, the doctor told me it’s another girl. I cried until my eyes turned red. I couldn't even tell my husband. When I got home, I had to tell a lie that I lost the pregnancy because I was scared of what his sisters and mother would do to me. They have already started suggesting another wife for him right in my presence.

I am tired of going from one native doctor to another, drinking bitter things and wasting money, yet the result is the same. I love my daughters, they are my life, but it’s like they are not enough to save my marriage.

Please, is there any special way to make sure the next one is a boy? Is there a particular time or something I should eat? I am desperate. I don’t want to lose my home. I want my husband back. Please help a sister"

Kanyama volunteer midwife turns taxi into Labour Ward, saves mother and baby

WHAT began as an ordinary day for volunteer midwife, Patricia Hamalambo, quickly turned into a remarkable act of courage and compassion that saved two lives.

Patricia had just knocked off from duty at Kanyama Level One Hospital in Lusaka when she noticed a large crowd gathered around a taxi.

Still dressed in her nurse’s uniform, her curiosity led her closer to the scene — a decision that would change everything for an expectant mother in desperate need.

As she approached, members of the public quickly ushered her into the centre of the crowd. There, she found a pregnant woman lying down, her water already broken and labour progressing rapidly.

“I begged the taxi driver not to leave and asked him to allow me to help the expectant mother give birth from his car,” Patricia narrates to TV Yatu.

At first, the driver hesitated, worried that the car seats would be stained.

“But I convinced him and assured him that I would have his car washed,” Patricia recalls.

As the brief negotiation unfolded, the woman’s labour continued to intensify. Once the driver finally agreed, Patricia asked several women from the crowd to help move the expectant mother into the taxi.

Realising the situation was becoming overwhelming due to the growing crowd, Patricia asked the driver to quickly leave the scene and head towards Kanyama Level One Hospital, with a few women accompanying them to assist.

Moments after the taxi pulled into the hospital car park, Patricia noticed the baby’s head already crowning.

“I quickly put on my gloves and helped the mother deliver a healthy baby boy right there in the car,” she said.

After the successful delivery, Patricia rushed into the Hospital to fetch a wheelchair and carefully wheeled the new mother and her baby into the labour ward for further care.

Unknown to her, the dramatic moment had been captured by renowned photojournalist Jean Mandela, documenting

" I don’t know if I should run or if I’ve already put myself in trouble. 😭It started on one of those Facebook groups where they said "Comment with a green heart 💚 if you are looking for a serious relationship."

He messaged me that same night. We realized we stayed in the same part of Lagos, so we talked on the phone throughout the next day.
He begged me to come over for the weekend. When I got there, everything was fine. We ate, we gaffed, and we spent time together like real lovers. Around 3 am this morning, he woke me up for another round. While we were at it, not even ten minutes in, he just stopped moving. He started making a strange sound in his throat and then he just fell heavy on top of me.

I tried to shake him, but he was like a log of wood. I splashed cold sachet water on his face, but his eyes were just fixed. I was so terrified. I thought about shouting for the neighbors, but I was scared of what people would say seeing me there at that time of the night.😭😭😭

I just dressed up, took my bag, and ran out of the house. It’s been almost 12 hours now and I haven’t heard anything. I’ve been calling his phone but it’s just ringing. My legs are shaking. What if he didn't wake up? If I go to the police, will they believe I didn’t do anything to him?
Please, I need advice before I lose my mind. 💔💔😭

Please, post but do not expose my identity 🙏

Silence around the table with cold chill
running down the spin of both parents.

sometimes even accompany you to your
doorstep! Are you setting a good example for
your 10-year-old daughter?”
The father continued
“And her elder sister, that good-for-nothing,
With her rasta man of a boyfriend, Who is
always found with her in all the hotels. Do you
believe she is setting a good example for her
younger sister?”
And the recriminations went on and on and on…. lordlamba
The grandmother touches the shoulder of the
little grand daughter to console her And asks
her :
“Well, my little girl, how did it happen?”
And the little girl replies while stifling her
sobs:

The grandmother asked:

Hide My Identity and Post For Me
I am a lady and I stay in Lusaka. I live with my grandmother. I graduated in 2020. My grandmother works as a maid. I am not working yet.

My issue is that the boss my grandmother is working for has been telling me to start working as a maid so that my grandmother can rest. She has sat me down several times. My grandmother is 83 yrs old. She says she can't tell her to cook or do anything because of her age.

I feel working as a maid is just too much. As someone who went to school I am finding it difficult to settle for a job as a maid. I explained everything to her but she can't understand. I don't know maybe she takes me for a fo.ol. Because where can I even start from? I think banisakila bamai baja.

My grandmother is in support of her. Simply because she has done a lot for us with her husband. I am feeling confused and depressed right now.

What should I do? Help me.
