Angola's Tetelo copper mine is set to commence production, aimed at diversifying the economy beyond oil.
The project, valued at $250 million and owned by Shining Star Icarus, plans to produce around 25,000 metric tons of copper annually during its first two years.
Tetelo's development highlights Angola's effort to attract investments into critical minerals supporting renewable energy technologies.
Angola remains reliant on oil, its primary economic backbone, but is seeking diversification due to declining output.

Nigeria’s🇳🇬 Dangote Petroleum Refinery will list 5 to 10% of its shares on the Nigerian Exchange within a year, Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote announced. The refinery plans to double capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day, surpassing India’s Jamnagar plant and pursuing Middle East partnerships and new petrochemical ventures.

Now, eight years later, another milestone: 3,028 entrepreneurs, investors and heirs make up this year’s ranking, 247 more than a year ago. Not only are there more of them, but they’re richer than ever, worth $16.1 trillion in total—up nearly $2 trillion over 2024.
