Festival of African Literature
CALL FOR ENTRIES: AFRICAN STORYTELLING COMPETITION
Are you a gifted African storyteller with a tale to tell? Do you have a unique voice and perspective to share with the world?
We invite you to submit your entry for the African Storytelling Competition, a flagship event at the CBAAC Festival of African Literature.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
1. Original composition, specifically for the competition.
2. Maximum duration of 5 minutes.
3. The story should be an authentic African Indigenous tale or align with the theme:
'African Heritage and Renaissance'.
We encourage the use of indigenous sounds and/or instruments to enhance the storytelling experience.
4. Submit your story in digital format (Word or PDF) with a (3) minute audio/video recording of your storytelling.
SUBMISSION PROCESS:
Email your entry to [email protected] with 'AFRICAN STORYTELLING COMPETITION' as the subject. Include your name, contact information, age, and a short bio (max 100 words).

Participation is free and open to all, registration is however compulsory.

Festival of African Literature
Are you a young and emerging African Poet/Spoken Word artist between the ages of 18 and 35?
Are you ready to unleash your creativity and share your African story with the world?
Then, you are invited to submit your entry for the Poetry and Spoken Word Slam to feature at the CBAAC Festival of African Literature
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
1. Poetry Requirements:
-It must be an original composition, specifically for the slam.
- It should not exceed the duration of 5 minutes.
- The Poem/Spoken Word should tell an authentic African Indigenous story/history or in line with the Theme: 'African Heritage and Renaissance'.
Selected entries will be performed live at the slam or a pre-recorded (video) for international participants and others outside Abuja will be on display for virtual participants.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
Poems should be submitted in digital format (Word or PDF) with a (1) minute reel of a previous performance.
- Send your Entry to the Email: [email protected] with "POETRY/SPOKEN WORD SLAM'' as the subject.
- Poets should also include their names, contact information, age, and a short bio (maximum of 100 words) along with the work.
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission Deadline: Wednesday, 15th January, 2025
Successful entries will be notified on or before the 22nd January, 2025.
