Anyway… I was looking through the list of amazing couples registered for The Couples Experience, and I just found myself imagining — what if two couples went home with a gift from one of Nigeria’s great bed brands?

It’s not unusual for couples to wake up and rush into the day’s tasks. Well, some still remember to pray, but most? Breakfast, bath, children getting ready, maybe a bit of news scanning or phone browsing.

This morning, I dare you to make your week different. When you wake up, pause and look at your spouse. Really look at them. Especially if you wake first.

Look at the marvelous work of art sleeping near you , look at how they’ve changed being married to you. Look at the curves, muscles, or tummy that the food you cooked, or the one you provided, has added to them. Look at how beautiful or handsome they’ve become in the time you’ve been married. Just admire the precious craft of God beside you.

Don’t stop there. Let your hands roam their body. Feel the silkiness of their skin, that smooth, natural morning texture. Just roam your fingers through that body: through the lines of her hair (if it’s plaited) or underneath if it’s not; through his scalp. Let those fingers roam, tracing their nose lines, ear lobe, neckline, shoulders, downwards to their fingers. From the neck through the middle of their chest down to the navel.

Let those fingers pause and do a little foot massage for both legs, whether they are awake or not. End it with a peck on the cheek and a whisper into their ear saying, “Thank you for loving me the way you do, my king/queen,” before you finally leave the bed to start your day.

It’ll take about 10 minutes or less. It’s worth it.
