So many people believe exercise is for those who have made money, those with “free time” or gym memberships, But the truth is, exercise is what helps you live long enough, and strong enough, to enjoy the money when it comes

Your body is your first investment
You can’t build wealth if you’re always tired
You can’t chase opportunities if your back aches from just standing up You can’t lead, hustle, or care for your family if you’re running on weak bones and stiff joints

The night wore on, the compound slowly emptying as one by one, the boys drifted home, Chinedu stayed behind, pretending to scroll on his phone, but really he was just buying time

The tightness in his chest hadn’t left, if anything, it had grown worse, pressing harder, like a stubborn hand refusing to let go, his forehead was damp again, even though the breeze had gotten cooler

He stood up to stretch, hoping movement would ease the discomfort, Instead, a sharp pain shot down his left arm, and for a moment, his vision blurred, he grabbed the edge of the table

“Musa, are you okay?” one of the boys asked, noticing his sudden stillness

Chinedu forced another weak smile, “It’s just stress… I’ll be fine”

But inside, panic was rising, This wasn’t stress, This wasn’t pepper, This wasn’t normal, He tried to brush it off again, tried to act like nothing was wrong, But the body has a way of demanding attention when ignored, Suddenly, his legs buckled, The phone slipped from his hand, hitting the ground with a heavy sound

“Chinedu!” Musa shouted, rushing forward as his friend slumped in the chair, clutching his chest, The laughter of earlier was gone
�The compound was silent now, except for the sound of hurried voices and the scramble for help Within minutes, they were rushing him to the nearest hospital, Nurses wheeled him into the emergency room as his friends waited outside, their faces pale with fear

The doctor’s words were clear and firm, “He had all the early warning signs chest pain, sweating, dizziness, This was not food or stress, This was his heart.”

Silence fell on the group, None of them had thought that a young man in his twenties could face something like this

The truth is, the body never whispers without a reason, Those “small” signs the chest tightness, the short breath, the sudden sweat are the body’s alarm bells, Ignoring them can turn minutes into life or death moments

That night, the boys learned a lesson that would stay with them forever, health is not something to wave off or postpone, Pay attention to your body, Listen early, Act fast, Because sometimes, tomorrow is too late

That evening, the boys were still hanging out in the compound, The laughter was loud, the suya plate was empty, and bottles of malt lay scattered on the table

But something was different about Chinedu, He wasn’t laughing as hard as the rest, He kept adjusting his shirt, quietly wiping sweat from his forehead, even though the evening breeze was cool
“Bro, why are you sweating like you just ran a marathon?” Musa asked, half joking

Chinedu forced a smile, “It’s probably the pepper from the suya,” he replied quickly

But deep inside, he knew it wasn’t pepper, Pepper doesn’t make your chest feel like a block of cement, He shifted uneasily in his chair, rubbed his chest lightly, and quickly hid it so no one would notice

The gist continued, but his laughter came late, as if his mind was somewhere else, Every few minutes, he held his head and closed his eyes like the light was suddenly too bright for him

Still, like most men, he waved it off “It’s nothing, I’ll be fine,” he told himself

And no one pressed him further After all, who wants to spoil a Friday night with health talk?

What Chinedu didn’t realize was that the body never whispers without a reason, Those “small” signs were already shouting, but he wasn’t listening

Chinedu was the life of the party 🎉�Always the loudest laugh, the guy who never missed Friday night pepper soup and beer with the boys, His friends used to call him “strong man” because no matter how late they stayed out, he would still wake up early for work the next day

But last month, something small started happening He noticed his head would pound like drum beats in the morning, just for a few minutes, he brushed it off

“Na stress jare.”

Then another day, he was climbing the stairs at the office and suddenly stopped halfway, breathing heavy like he just ran from Ojuelegba to CMS He laughed at himself and saidďż˝
“Abeg, na because I never chop”
