On Tuesday 28th May 2024, we celebrate a vital aspect of women's health and well-being – menstrual hygiene.

As a Girl Child Ambassador, I had the privilege of speaking with the incredible girls at our school about the importance of menstrual hygiene management (MHM). Here’s what we discussed and what every girl should know:

Why Menstrual Hygiene Matters

🩸 Health: Good menstrual hygiene helps prevent infections and keeps you healthy.

🎓 Education: Proper management means fewer missed school days.

💪 Dignity and Confidence: Understanding and managing menstruation empowers girls to participate fully in life.

⚖️ Equality: Menstruation should never be a barrier to success and participation in society.

Good Menstrual Hygiene Practices

🧼 Stay Clean: Wash your hands before and after changing sanitary products.

🔄 Change Regularly: Change pads or tampons every 4-6 hours.

🚮 Dispose Properly: Wrap and throw away used products responsibly.

💧 Choose Safe Products: Use high-quality, comfortable products

Final Thought

Menstruation is a natural part of life. On this World Menstrual Hygiene Day, let's commit to breaking the silence, educating ourselves and others, and supporting all girls in managing their periods with dignity and confidence.

Last week, the Paradigm Shifter team had the privilege of providing technology awareness to pupils in my school, which serves an underserved community.

The enthusiasm displayed by my pupils was remarkable, as they eagerly absorbed knowledge and embraced the opportunity to engage with modern technology.

Witnessing the joy on their faces as they interacted with the system, I am pleased to have played a role in exposing them to the transformative power of technology.

Thanks to Paradigm Shifter for making this possible. It is through our collective commitment and passion for education that we were able to make a difference in the lives of the pupils.

"Trimphs and Reflection: A journey through competition stages"

Initially, I prepared my top pupil for a math competition, realizing there was more she needed to learn despite being the best in our school.

She excelled in the first stage, securing a spot at the state level. Her confidence and belief in herself were palpable, fueled by the desire to win.

Having conquered the initial stages, she narrowly missed the finals. I admire her dedication and preparation, and her
unwavering self-belief acknowledges my support. The transition from the local government stage to the state finals marks a notable and impactful journey for her.

Coach Ifeoluwa Fajemirokun made a valuable contribution to our ongoing efforts to provide learning resources for children in low-income communities.

His visit brought joy to my learners, as he generously provided writing materials that will enhance their active learning experience, contributing to the overall growth of the class.

Tech Awareness

Yesterday, as a Teach For Nigeria Fellow and a member of the Paradigm Shifter cell, we conducted a tech awareness program for students in an underserved community.

Our mission is to empower young minds and bring about meaningful change in their lives.

The overwhelming joy on the students' faces was evident as they learned a lot from the computer system.

I express my appreciation to the wonderful Paradigm Shifters team, coach, and facilitator.

Our passion for change enabled us to achieve this, witnessing these students thrive.

Celebrating International Day Of Education.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24th January as International day of education in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.

So, Yesterday I joined the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Ogun, to celebrate this day in CPS, Ogun State.

As one of the keynote speakers, I delved into the 2024 theme, "Education for Lasting Peace." Emphasizing the transformative nature of learning, I highlighted the importance of equipping learners with knowledge, ideas, values, attitudes, and skills to become agents of peace in their communities.
