Today was Day 3 and the final session of the Virtual Digital Training for IT students at FUTA Fish Farm, with students from Federal University of Technology Akure and Adekunle Ajasin University.

We discussed the importance of keeping daily farm records simple, consistent, and decision-driven. Students also learned that proper record keeping is a strong leverage for farmers and that securing a market before production is a smart strategy for sustainable aquaculture business growth.

Thank you to all participants for the commitment and active participation throughout the training.

Day 2 of our virtual digital training organized by Smater by AquaOrg in collaboration with FUTA and AAUA students on internship at the FUTA Fish Farm was both practical and insightful.

Today, we explored key aspects of daily farm routines and the importance of keen observation in aquaculture management.

Key highlights from the session include:

• Understanding daily farm routine and operational discipline
• Using human sense organs as the first tool for water quality assessment before relying on instruments
• Observing fish behavior carefully before feeding to guide proper feeding decisions
• An introduction to the aquaculture business life cycle and how it shapes farm success, moving from opportunity to design setup, and scaling confidently.

It was a hands-on learning experience that reinforced the importance of observation, consistency, and practical thinking in aquaculture management.

Feed and other inputs are already high; customers should not be low. You don't always have to be in a panic-selling situation anymore.
