CHAPTER 50

TRUST IN LOVE (PART 1)

When Eugene and Nina were finally done with dinner, Eugene made his way toward the stables to feed Maximus, just as he had promised. Maximus was not an ordinary horse, and everyone who knew him understood that. He rarely allowed anyone to ride him except his master, and even when it came to being touched, he could be surprisingly difficult. There had been countless occasions when he had refused to let anyone come near him, yet somehow, he had always been different around Eugene.

Lately, however, Eugene had begun noticing something even more unusual. Maximus seemed to have developed a certain fondness for Nina, and Eugene could not deny that he liked seeing it. Nina followed beside him, helping him carry the basket filled with apples and carrots.

When Maximus noticed them approaching, the great horse stirred from his sleep and slowly raised his head, almost as though he had been waiting for them. There was something strangely knowing about the way his eyes settled on them, and Eugene smiled as he walked closer, reaching out to stroke his mane.

“He's a good horse,” Nina said, breaking the comfortable silence between them.

“Yes, he is. And a special one,” Eugene replied as he took an apple from the basket and held it out to Maximus. The horse eagerly ate it, then gave a loud neigh as though agreeing with his master.

Nina couldn't help smiling at the sight. She had never considered herself much of an animal lover, but there was something about Maximus that made her want to stay near him. Carefully, she reached out and touched the bridge of his nose, expecting him to pull away. He didn't. Instead, Maximus remained perfectly still beneath her gentle touch, his large eyes resting calmly on her.

Eugene watched them with quiet amusement. He had once found it surprising that Maximus would allow Nina anywhere near him, but by now, he was beginning to accept that the horse had chosen her for some reason he could not understand. “He likes you,”

King Eugene always give orders and doesn't ask but that night he was asking Nina to come along.

"Of course,Your Majesty"Nina replied "I would love to"She smiled.

William was sitting on one of the few benches at the training field.His eyes were lost even though he stared ahead of him.Ethan had told him to get to bed earlier but he didn't listen.He never listens.

Liam was waiting for his lover.

"William."

He heard a female voice he knew too well.She was right on time...but she was not alone.Gideon was with her.

"I want you to meet someone,this is---"Laurel stopped midway and her smile slowly faded.

Liam raised his head and stared Laurel in the eyes.She didn't even know when those startling blue eyes changed deep blue and his gaze averted to Gideon's.

"William?"Laurel sounded worried when all of a sudden,Liam stood and gripped Gideon by the collar.

He was angry it showed in those blue eyes.His face grew solemn and his brows furrowed.

"Leave.Her.Alone.Laurel is mine.She is mine"William growled viciously but the warning and dark aura coming from William made Gideon smirk.

It didn't even get to Gideon and he's not taking it seriously...
