THEME: LET THERE BE LIGHT V.
MEMORISE:
O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: Isaiah 48:18
READ: Philippians 4:6-7.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
MESSAGE:
Let there be light could mean le there be peace. There is, however, a link between having the peace of God and obedience to His commandments, as we see in our memory verse today.
One of the commandments which some people may not recognize is in Matthew 11:29 where Jesus Christ commands that we should learn of Him o that we may find rest (peace) for our souls. This is very important because Romans 10:17 also says “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Also, there are categories of peace. We have regular peace (Isaiah 45:7), great peace (Psalm 119:165), all-round peace (1 Kings 4:24) and peace like a river (Isaiah 48:18).
A question that then comes to mind is, “who gives peace at whatever level?”. The answer is simple: God is the Giver of peace. He gives peace through Hi Son Jesus Christ- the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), this is why Apostle Peter prayed for the Church, saying “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7). The preceding verse says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” In other words, before you ca have the peace of God, you must learn to trust Him, and you cannot trust the One you do not know or accept as your all in all. In addition, you cannot talk of praising and honoring Him as you should.
On this note,

*THE SACRIFICE OF PRAISE*
*TEXT* : PSALM 33: 1-8
*Key Verse* : "Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright" ( *Psalm* *33:1)*
Do you know that God, our heavenly Father loves to be praised? How did you feel the last time somebody praised you or commended you for good works? Happy of course.
God has done and is still doing excellent things for us and around us. He therefore deserves all the praises we can give unto Him. Alot of God's children ask for this and that from God. There is nothing bad in asking, because God wants us to ask. But many people forget to stop and just thank God for everything He has done for them.
Do not be an ungrateful child of God. Every day, learn to say 'thank you' to God for anything and everything He has done. Did you say thank you to God this morning?
When you count your blessings, do not forget to offer sacrifice of praise to the One who loves you most and has blessed you with all good things of life.
*Prayer* : Thank You for all You have done for me.

BE MINISTERED TO AS WELL
Read: Ephesians 4:11-13
Ephesians 4:11-13 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
MEMORISE: As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend (Proverbs 27:17)
EXPOSITION
The Scripture reveals to us, as Christians, that each of us has been given a certain gift/talent to work with. God poured out His grace on us, so that we may slip it over on others who are in dire need of it. We are admonished to minister to others with whatever gift, power and skill God gives us. This gladdens the heart of every heavenly-conscious soldier of Christ, glorifying God with what He has deposited inside of us. Are you called to be an/a apostle, prophet, pastor, teacher, evangelist, administrator, chorister, instrumentalist, usher, children worker, etc.? Do it as the grace/ministry given to you by God. The gifts of Christ are intended for the good of His people, to bring into orderly spiritual state those who have been dislocated and disjointed by sin, to build up the Church, and to be fulfilled in ministry (Eph. 4:11-14).
Dear reader, having used your gift to bless others, are you also being ministered to by the ministration of others? Are you only available in church when you are to minister? Don't always pour yourself into the life of others without allowing others to bless you. None possesses all the spiritual gifts. A river that flows out without any connection to a source soon dries off. Make yourself available to be ministered to, blessed and equipped the more by others' ministration.

Topic: Being Called Up the Mountain with Jesus
Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted and they came to him. Mark 3:13
Message
This Scripture passage reveals Jesus summoning His Apostles up the mountain so as to give them the commission to preach and to cast out demons in His name. One significant aspect of this Scripture passage is that Jesus summoned the Apostles “up the mountain.”
Everything Jesus did in life was filled with significance. This particular action displays great symbolic value. The commission of the Apostles to preach and to cast out demons only took place after they went up the mountain at Jesus’ invitation. Why did He do this only after calling His Apostles up a mountain?
A mountain is a symbol of our journey toward God. It’s an indication that we are to go up toward Him. And it reveals that we are only equipped to go forth and fulfill God’s will after we have first gone up to meet Him.
The “mountain” we are called to go up is first and foremost prayer. We are to daily go up to meet our Lord, seeking Him through a life of deep surrender. Jesus calls us to Himself where He waits for us so as to be alone with Him basking in His glorious presence.
Unless we go up that mountain with our Lord, we will be ill-equipped to fulfill His divine commission. We will be insufficiently prepared to bring His love and mercy to a world in need.
Reflect, today, upon the invitation Jesus offers you to follow Him up the mountain of prayer. Respond to that invitation so that you can then be sent forth by Him to fulfill His divine command of love.
Pray: My inviting Lord, I do accept Your gentle invitation to go up the mountain of faith and prayer. I desire to seek You out and to be with You. As I meet You in prayer, give me the grace I need to then go forth and fulfill Your divine will. Jesus, I trust in You.

TEXT: Hosea 1:1- 2:1 (NKJV)
1. The word of the LORD that came to Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, [and] Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.
2. [When] the LORD began to speak by Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea: "Go, take yourself a wife of harlotry And children of harlotry, For the land has committed great harlotry [By departing] from the LORD."
3. So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.
4. Then the LORD said to him: "Call his name Jezreel, For in a little [while] I will avenge the bloodshed of Jezreel on the house of Jehu, And bring an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.
5. It shall come to pass in that day That I will break the bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel."
6. And she conceived again and bore a daughter. Then [God] said to him: "Call her name Lo-Ruhamah, For I will no longer have mercy on the house of Israel, But I will utterly take them away.
7. Yet I will have mercy on the house of Judah, Will save them by the LORD their God, And will not save them by bow, Nor by sword or battle, By horses or horsemen."
8. Now when she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, she conceived and bore a son.
9. Then [God] said: "Call his name Lo-Ammi, For you [are] not My people, And I will not be your [God.]
10. " Yet the number of the children of Israel Shall be as the sand of the sea, Which cannot be measured or numbered. And it shall come to pass In the place where it was said to them, 'You [are] not My people,' [There] it shall be said to them, '[You are] sons of the living God.'
11. Then the children of Judah and the children of Israel Shall be gathered together, And appoint for themselves one head; And they shall come up out of the land, For great [will be] the day of Jezreel!
2:1. Say to your brethren, 'My people,' And to your sisters, 'Mercy is shown.'

TOPIC: DESTRUCTION OF SINFUL PEOPLE
TEXT: Amos 9 (NKJV)
1. I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and He said: "Strike the doorposts, that the thresholds may shake, And break them on the heads of them all. I will slay the last of them with the sword. He who flees from them shall not get away, And he who escapes from them shall not be delivered.
2. "Though they dig into hell, From there my hand shall take them; Though they climb up to heaven, From there I will bring them down;
3. And though they hide themselves on top of Carmel, From there I will search and take them; Though they hide from My sight at the bottom of the sea, From there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them;
4. Though they go into captivity before their enemies, From there I will command the sword, And it shall slay them. I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good."
5. The Lord GOD of hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, And all who dwell there mourn; All of it shall swell like the River, And subside like the River of Egypt.
6. He who builds His layers in the sky, And has founded His strata in the earth; Who calls for the waters of the sea, And pours them out on the face of the earth -- The LORD [is] His name.
7. " [Are] you not like the people of Ethiopia to Me, O children of Israel?" says the LORD. "Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt, The Philistines from Caphtor, And the Syrians from Kir?
8. "Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD [are] on the sinful kingdom, And I will destroy it from the face of the earth; Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob," Says the LORD.
9. "For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As [grain] is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.
10. All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, 'The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.'
11. " On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old;
12. That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name," Says the LORD who does this thing.
13. " Behold, the days are coming," says the LORD, "When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow [with it.]
14. I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit [them;] They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.
15. I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them," Says the LORD your God.
STUDY
The Lord had declared that if hands join together, sinners will never go unpunished. He made it clear that when the punishment comes, every sinner must receive it wherever he or she may hide. God's judgement on evil doers will be dreadful because God's eyes are set upon them for judgement and not for good. It is regrettable that many people have forgotten the Almighty God who has given them life, cities, food and divine protection. They mock the Lord God by taking His name and His word in vain. God declared that all the sinners shall perish; but promised to restore and establish those who fear Him.
Our God has no pleasure in the death of a sinner, but that he shall repent, forsake his evil ways and come back to Him. This is the reason for sending His Son Jesus Christ to come and die in our stead. If you repent of all your sins and receive Jesus Christ into your life as Lord and Saviour, you will neither die nor perish, but shall have everlasting life.
PRAYER: Prayer: Lord God Almighty, who has given us Your only Son Jesus Christ to save us from the wrath to come, give us grace to serve you in this generation through the same Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

TOPIC: ROOTED AND BUILT UP IN CHRIST
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as LORD, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7, NIV
Shadrack was a young vibrant Christian when he gained admission to school abroad for further studies. He returned home with strange doctrines and questionable behavior after his studies. He had been exposed to heresies and his sense of holiness has been compromised.
One major thing that is missing in the church today is discipleship. Many people still give their lives to Christ but only few are rooted and built up in Christ through discipleship. People are full of church activities but shallow in the knowledge of the Word of God. We have many confusions in the church because some are babies who have not taken enough spiritual nourishment (spiritually filled) to make them grow to maturity in faith.
Are you undergoing discipleship? Do you think you are being built up in Christ with the Word of God? Do not allow church/fellowship activities make you have false belief of spiritual maturity. Find avenue to go deeper in the Word of God and conform to the Word. Do not play with your spiritual maturity as you seek life transforming discipleship.
Insight: Let us go back to the old time practice of faith in thorough discipleship.
Prayer: Create in me O LORD the yearning, thirst and hunger for your Word so that I can grow in You daily.

TOPIC: DARE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE (I)
Read Daniel 1:1-21
[1]In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
[2]And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
[3]And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;
[4]Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
[5]And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
[6]Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
[7]Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
[8]But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
[9]Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
[10]And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger
