Last Christmas, I wrote this piece for a boutique's webpage to raise awareness about their new wares. I called it ECO-FRIENDLY FASHION FOR CHRISTMAS. This is an old article published in 2020, I can't ascertain if it's information remains true today...
Bamboo bags. Have you heard of them? Well, they're awesome. They are made of bamboo and are in so many shapes and sizes, colours and textures that you must find your hearts desire. OK, what about rattan bags? These ones are made of straws. Did I say they were eco-friendly.... and cheap; why wouldn't they be cheap, they are made of bamboo and straws. Wear these bags with a straw sun hat and you would be Miss Eco-Nigeria.
You can practically wear them with anything. While the rattan bags are usually smaller in size -like purses, the bamboo bags are larger. Some bamboo bags are see-through while others are not, some are more flexible than others as well. Though some can be seen as impractical, celebrities stretch our minds by defying practicality for fashion, who says fashion is practical - or comfortable. But comfortable these bags are, light in weight and diverse in application, they are a must have for every sane woman. Men just a little longer and yours might be on the way as Gucci is working on a male variant.
These bags mostly lack in ornaments so it is advised that when wearing them wear other accessories. Two looks to rock this Christmas with a rattan or bamboo bag will be;
The cute cheerleader look. A wrapped around cropped top made out of lovely tropical prints that suit the day's vibes with a deconstructed denim mini-skirt and 'dad' sneakers will fit perfectly with a strap rattan or bamboo bag. Minimal golden accessories will be a great match with such allure to celebrate your stunning tan.
The Parisian look. Protect your hair from damaging sun and look like a fashionista with a straw hat and a plain little dress. Look like a perfect french girl with strappy heels, a plain dress and a silk scarf. Complete the outfit with a statement earring, best if it is made of straws or some natural material as well. Golden or diamond themed accessorising will also do. You could add a denim or leather jacket if it's too chilly outside.
The bags go well with all footwears be it slippers, sandals, block heels or wedge sandals. Striped and polka dotted dresses are also great with these bags. You could also experiment with shorts, trousers and jumpsuits. Try out different tops for different looks. Shame your friends this Christmas, become their fashion icon.

Wow I was surprised to find this article I wrote two years ago still in my storage. I wrote it for an entertainment magazine in 2019, I called it "DUBAI DIVA". Please the subject matter here is outdated, I only posted it because I thought it was quite a good piece of writing.
So let us get this story straight, On Friday night (November 15th) at the venue of the OneAfricaMusicFest in Dubai, Nollywood diva Tonto Dikeh got into an exchange of words with the security at the entrance and before one could say Robinson, the confrontation had escalated into one which involved the Police and arrests were made. According to sources, tonto arrived at the venue of the event and the security refused to allow her in while others walked pass her into the event, Tonto got upset and she who sources say appeared intoxicated launched a verbal attack on the security guard and two colleagues who were with her excused themselves when they could not stop or control her. She is quoted to have called the white security guard a ''N***a'' while yelling and cursing and asking him if he knows who she is.........''Do you know who i am? Do you fvcking know who i am'' When it got out of hand the Police was called in and she was taken away. In an Instagram post the following day, Nigerian Cross-dresser Bobrisky confirmed the arrest in a distraught manner.
It was later reported that the controversial actress has been deported back to Nigeria. Reacting to this situation, Tonto Dikeh in a video posted on her YouTube channel on Monday, debunked the claims with her bestie, Bobrisky in their hotel room. "Hello, people whats up. I heard you guys have been looking for me up to the extent that you guys created fake news that I was deported. Really? Anyways I'm still here...still here...going to be here for a while. And please stop the fake news, I have not been deported. Y'all don't know my name? Its King Tonto. You guys are joking with me, I swear, these bloggers be joking with me," she said.
In recent days, news has been that Tonto dikeh even though not deported is still in detention. In an interview with blogger Kemi Ashefon, an unknown source said the following; âFirst, Tonto is not the type to use that kind of video to debunk allegations of detention and deportation. She would have used a more beautiful background wearing gorgeous clothes and displaying affluence. That was a damage control video she shared through Bobrisky. Tonto was looking like a tart! She wasnât wearing make-up and looking like a prisoner in one small room! Anyways, in the video, there was no address about her arrest. The Tonto we knew would have tore whoever wrote that story into shreds.â
Also, Bobrisky has now shared another video on his page showing Tonto Dikeh telling her fans to follow her new Instagram page, . The actress explained that her old account is fine but she left her password in her office in Nigeria and cannot access the page.
Kemi Ashefonâs source also commented on this. The source said: âWho is fooling who? She said she is still in Dubai but her password is still in Africa! In this IT age? The video looks so stupid! Meanwhile, before the new page, she had posted many photos from Dubai on the old page which has over 5million followers. It was on her old page she posted her âfake giftâ from Timi Frank. She even bought a new phone to run the new page! As a matter of fact, she removed the nylon seal from the cover of the phone!â The source also said: âAfter her arrest and her hotel room was searched, they found out that she came to Dubai with hard drugs which she must have been taking.â
The truth behind these series of events is yet to be known as neither Tonto or Bobrisky is yet to affirm or deny this claim. But like all things under the sun, in due time all will be figured out.

FINDING GOD by Magnus Okonkwo
I looked in the mirror
To find God,
For my preacher always said,
"God is in your heart",
But all I saw was pain,
Guilt, Anger and Frustration,
And I said to myself,
"Could God really be here"
I looked around me
To find God,
For my preacher always said,
"God is in your fellow men",
But all my fellow men were dead drunk,
Ci**rs in lips and pants down,
And I said to myself
"Could God really be here"
I looked around the world
To find God,
For my preacher always said,
"God is everywhere",
But the world was at war,
Indulging murder, r**e and all forms of vice,
And I said to myself,
"Could God really be here"
Now I'm back in my solitude,
Wondering why I couldn't find God,
Maybe it was my preacher
Who never quite outgrew
The stories his mother told him as a toddler,
Or maybe it was God
Who couldn't bear the world anymore,
So went somewhere else.

I REALLY LIKE THIS SONG. a poem by Magnus Okonkwo
Oh, the sounds that cause my heart to leap,
The rhythm that makes my feet to dance,
The instruments form a sea my soul falls into deep,
And his tale I wish to experience even by chance.
His stories of love, of life , of pain,
I'm flushed with emotions, drenched with it as though the rain,
But why all this philosophy as along I sing?
- Because I really like this song.
