The Chairman, Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Hon. Morenike Adesina Williams has vowed to distribute 10,000 free face masks as part of its contributions to the people in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. NEWS FLASH: The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 117 new COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, bringing the total to 782. 59 of the new cases are in Lagos alone.

Two new COVID-19-related deaths have been confirmed in Lagos, bringing total number of fatalities to 16. Commissioner for Health in the state, Prof. Akin Abayomi disclosed this in a series of tweets on Tuesday morning. He said that although no new case of infection was recorded on Monday, April 20, two new deaths were recorded. Abayomi identified the first victim as a 45-year-old man that returned from India in January 2020. [ 167 more words ]

Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello has urged Nigerians to collaborate with the Federal and state governments in the fight against the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Recall that Akindele was arrested and prosecuted by the Lagos State government for violating the social distancing rule, when she hosted a birthday party for her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, aka JJC Skills. Nigeria has recorded 86 fresh cases of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the country’s largest number in a single day, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said. The latest figure brings the total number of confirmed cases to 627. NCDC, through its verified Twitter account on Sunday, disclosed that the 86 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from seven states, 70 in Lagos, seven in FCT, three each in Katsina and Akwa Ibom, one each in Jigawa, Bauchi and Borno States. A Singapore-based Nigerian medical practitioner, Dr. Jonathan Obaje, has recommended regular indoor exercise for people amid the coronavirus lockdown to enable them to maintain both physical and mental health. Obaje, who is the Vice President, Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Singapore Chapter, gave the advice on Saturday. My loyal friend and compatriot for the last 42 years - and latterly my Chief-of-Staff - he never wavered in his commitment to the betterment of every one of us. He was among the first key officers to be reappointed for a second stint when Buhari was re-elected as President in 2019.
