International Day of Forests 2026🌍
Today, we celebrate the International Day of Forests 2026. This year’s theme, **“Forests and Economies,”** invites us once again to see that forests are more than just a collection of trees.
It is time to recognize that **nature is our greatest capital**. From providing food, wood, medicine, pulp and paper, to numerous biochemical raw materials that drive global trade, forests are the backbone of both our survival and our economies.
However, viewing forests through a narrow economic lens risks overlooking the many other vital services they provide. Forests regulate our air, support biodiversity, offer spaces for recreation, sustain livelihoods, preserve culture and heritage, and remain pillars of climate stability.
At Urban Tree Revival Initiative (UTRI), we believe that a healthy economy cannot exist on a dying planet. It is time to shift from exploitation to restoration.
From rural communities to global industries, the question remains: how do we balance the scales?
1️⃣ By championing the sustainable use of forest resources
2️⃣ By committing to reforestation in both urban and rural landscapes
🌱Join the conversation: What’s your favourite forest-based product? (Medicine, coffee, wood, etc.)
Hey there fellow nature lovers 💚
We would like to share a unique approach to climate action and highlight the impact that our incredible team at the URBAN TREE REVIVAL INITIATIVE has achieved since inception in 2019.
From tree planting and climate education to empowering farmers and youth, our work demonstrates how communities can lead in addressing deforestation, land degradation, and biodiversity loss in Nigeria.
✅ With over 100,000 students engaged, thousands of trees planted, and grassroots partnerships established, UTRI is creating greener, healthier, and more resilient communities.
🌱 Looking ahead, we are preparing to establish a 5,000-tree Indigenous Recreation Park—a model that combines restoration, livelihoods, and community well-being.
To achieve this ambitious goal, we are seeking your support to help us scale our impact and bring this vision to life.

At Urban Tree Revival Initiative (UTRI), our mission is rooted in action.
Through our “Adopt a Tree” project in Ondo State, we’re restoring degraded land, planting 500+ indigenous fruit trees, and building a community park that supports biodiversity, food security, and climate resilience.
🌳 Every tree planted is a promise:
✔️ To fight climate change
✔️ To restore lost green cover
✔️ To create sustainable spaces for future generations

In honor of this year’s , our team visited our one-acre Tree Park site in Ondo State to continue our mission of restoring green spaces and promoting biodiversity. 💚
As part of our commitment to land restoration and climate resilience, we planted the following indigenous tree species:
🌿 Chrysophyllum albidum – Agbalumo (African Star Apple)
🌿 Annona muricata – Soursop
🌿 Parkia biglobosa – Iru (Locust Beans)
These trees will not only provide shade and beauty but also contribute to carbon absorption, food security, and ecosystem balance in our community.
A huge shoutout to our amazing volunteers for making this outreach possible! Together, we are restoring nature, one tree at a time. 🌱💪

🌳 Today, the International Day of Forests! 🌍🌱
We are reminded that forests are the lungs of our planet, absorbing carbon, purifying the air, and supporting biodiversity.
Yet, deforestation threatens ecosystems, accelerates climate change, and endangers countless species.
At Urban Tree Revival, we are committed to restoring green spaces, planting indigenous trees, and fostering a sustainable future. Through our Urban Tree Revival Initiative, we aim to create lasting change—one tree at a time!
🌿 Why Trees Matter:
✅ Absorb CO₂ and fight climate change
✅ Prevent soil erosion and desertification
✅ Provide habitat for wildlife
✅ Improve air quality and human well-being

We would like bring it to your notice the full details about the our upcoming "Adopt a Tree project"
This project is intended to establish a park and recreational center in our newly acquired one acre land property Ilara-Mokin, Ondo state Nigeria which will be a pilot initiative aimed at creating a network of larger parks across all 36 states of Nigeria.
This park will feature the planting of 500 Indigenous fruit trees, promote agroforestry and act as a hub for environmental sustainability education and other eco-friendly initiatives.
During the early stage of tree growth, we will empower female farmers and grant them access to plant arable crops like yam, maize, and vegetables etc. in the spaces between our trees creating an system until canopy closure.
While at the same time these female farmers help us to nurture our trees and maintain the place from getting weedy.
This will provide immediate income opportunities for the farmers to alleviate poverty and build their capacity and resilience to the changing weather patterns.
