LET ME TELL YOU HOW I LEARNED TO PLAY THE PIANO 🎹

Let me tell you how I learned to play the piano. I had been dreaming of playing the piano since I was little. But I didn’t have one and didn’t know anyone who could teach me.

Then, in 2009, I worshiped in a church where there was a keyboard but no one to play it. Someone would come once in a while, but it wasn’t consistent.

So one day, my reverend called him and told him he would love it if he could train one or two people in the church on how to play the piano. He agreed. Five of us showed interest, so we started. The first day, he taught us how to play the C major scale, then he taught us one song.

Ever since that day, the man didn’t show up to teach us again, and none of us knew how to play yet. So we were back to square one.

Since there was no one to play, I took it upon myself that I must learn how to play this piano. So I would go to church every day to rehearse. Sincerely speaking, everything I was playing then was nonsense 😀😀 In fact, my colleagues were jealous of me.

Then I moved on to reading books 📚. I went deeper into music theory books and applied what I read on the piano.

Gradually, I started improving… It wasn’t a one-day job.

So, I want to advise you, don't stop learning!
Get materials that will help you improve!

🎯 1. KNOW YOUR KEYS (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

👉 You must be able to play in all 12 keys

🚫 Embarrassment:

Singer changes key → you get stuck
Band starts in a different key → you’re lost

Practice keys daily
Think in numbers (1–7), not letters
🎧 2. DEVELOP YOUR EAR

👉 Don’t depend only on tutorials
