β€œEven when Naira was stronger, life was still hard for the common man.” β€” Seun Kuti

β€œBack when $1=1₦, life was still hard.
That was the time Fela was still singing about our struggles.

Basic commodities were scarce and unaffordable.
Bread was sold for 10 kobo (₦0.10) β€” Even with petrol at 22 kobo per litre (₦0.22) People couldn't afford it.

That tells you β€” a strong currency doesn’t mean a better life.

Our problem is not just the economy.

A simple government intervention could have helped:
a price monitoring committee to control the cost of essentials β€” linking prices to minimum wage and ensuring fair profit margins for producers and traders.

I’m not even talking about luxury items β€” just everyday necessities:
toothpaste, soap, food, rent, deodorant, tissue paper.
