Call for Inputs and Feedback
Local Stakeholder Public Consultation – ecoWise Distributed Solar Voluntary Project Activities (VPAs) in Nigeria

Nigeria’s distributed solar sector is at a turning point. The barrier is not technology or demand, but access to credible, scalable climate finance. Africa faces a $12.5 billion annual electricity access financing gap, and one of the biggest obstacles has been the high cost and complexity of carbon credit verification.

The proposed ecoWise Distributed Solar VPAs, led by Vectar Energy Limited, are designed to address this challenge by enabling distributed solar projects across Nigeria to generate high integrity carbon credits through advanced digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification infrastructure.

This consultation will present the proposed ecoWise VPAs and gather stakeholder feedback on:
- Programme design and eligibility criteria
- Monitoring and verification framework
- Environmental and social safeguards
- Developer participation requirements

The sessions will explore how the programme can strengthen project economics, unlock climate finance, and accelerate Nigeria’s clean energy transition.

The voluntary carbon credit market is projected to grow from USD 2.1 billion in 2025 to nearly USD 19.8 billion by 2035, a compound annual growth rate of 25 percent.
This explosive growth underscores the central role carbon credits are playing in global climate finance. Yet, like any currency, their value depends on trust, transparency, and accountability. Without robust verification, carbon markets risk being undermined by greenwashing and inefficiency.

Carbon credits serve as a bridge to net zero offsetting unavoidable emissions while companies invest in long term decarbonization. They act as a catalyst for climate finance, channeling funds into renewable energy, reforestation, and community projects. And with frameworks like the Paris Agreement, credits are increasingly recognized as legitimate financial instruments.
Still, challenges remain. Integrity risks such as double counting and unverifiable claims erode confidence. Transparency gaps leave stakeholders uncertain about real impact. Market fragmentation complicates adoption as voluntary and compliance markets operate under different rules.

This is where ecoWise steps in, as a Digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (DMRV) platform, ecoWise tackles these challenges directly. It ensures data integrity by tracking emissions reductions with precision, delivers transparency through real time reporting, scales efficiently by digitizing MRV processes to reduce costs, and strengthens accountability with automated verification that minimizes bias.

Carbon credits will only fulfill their potential as the currency of net zero if they are trusted. Platforms like ecoWise are redefining carbon markets, ensuring every credit purchased translates into measurable climate impact.

ecoWise Thursday Trivia!

In clean energy and carbon markets, reporting systems matter more than many realize.
But what really sets automated reporting apart from manual processes?

Drop your answer below!

One of the biggest barriers to climate finance in Nigeria is trust in data.

ecoWise changes that by converting real-time clean energy and emissions data into verified, traceable carbon credits and RECs, powered by global-standard dMRV.

More transparency. More trust. More capital for clean energy.

Vectar Energy recorded major milestones with multiple awards received, high-impact events hosted, and climate finance unlocked to advance clean energy access.
None of this would have been possible without the collective support of our partners, stakeholders, and allies across the ecosystem.

We extend our sincere appreciation to iFair, , , .energy, Proserve Energy, , , Verra, , , and the Office of the SSA to the President on Climate Finance and Stakeholder Engagement. For believing in the vision and working alongside us.

Thank you all for the trust, commitment, and shared resolve to accelerate Nigeria’s energy transition.

Cheers to a more sustainable 2026!
