From thousands to millions, we’ll be learning how to break numbers down, understand their place values and write them confidently in words.

This week, we continue with NUMBER NOTATION — Writing Numbers in Words and Figures. 🔢
🧮 SHADED vs UNSHADED AREA!
Ever looked at a shaded shape and wondered, “Where do I start?” 🤔
It’s actually simple!
Shaded Area = Whole Area − Unshaded Area
And when asked for the difference:
Difference = Larger Area − Smaller Area
No tricks! Just understand the shape, choose the right formula, and calculate. 💙

📚 NEW TERM MATHEMATICS: WE ARE STARTING WITH NUMBERS! 🔢✨
Guess what? The first Mathematics topic in many classes this new term is something that looks simple but is actually the foundation for almost everything we will do in Mathematics!
👉 READING AND WRITING OF NUMBERS + PLACE VALUE.
Depending on the class, learners may be working with numbers up to:
🔹 1,000
🔹 10,000
🔹 100,000
🔹 Millions
🔹 Billions
🔹 Trillions!
But here is the BIG question:
Can your child read a number correctly AND explain the value of each digit? 🤔
Let's break it down! 👇
🔢 WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO READ A NUMBER?
We read a number according to the value represented by each group of digits.
The secret is simple:
👉 GROUP THE NUMBER IN THREES!
Whenever you see a large number, start from the RIGHT and separate the digits into groups of three.
For example:
8,305,214,607
Break it down:
8 | 305 | 214 | 607
Now give each group a name:
8 | 305 | 214 | 607
Billion | Million | Thousand | Ones
Now read each group from LEFT to RIGHT:
8 billion
305 million
214 thousand
607
Put them together:
👉 Eight billion, three hundred and five million, two hundred and fourteen thousand, six hundred and seven.
THAT'S IT!
⭐ THE GOLDEN RULE
When you see a huge number:
1️⃣ Start from the RIGHT.
2️⃣ Group the digits in threes.
3️⃣ Name each group: Thousand → Million → Billion → Trillion.
4️⃣ Read from LEFT to RIGHT.
5️⃣ Skip groups that contain only zeros.
